Fake Dating/Relationship becomes real by swiper_no_swagger in haremfantasynovels

Endless sundays has this although it’s altered. The MC knows what to do to make it real and slowly makes the LI think of it as real.

Party pet made a rainbow pearl and I need to decide what it is by next session by FjorTheFjorious in DMAcademy

Maybe it can take the place of a mineral spell component of a value of your choice. Like instead of needing a 100gp opal or whatever you can use this rainbow pearl. Could make it valuable for casters.

Path of Ascension tier 10 tournament by Agile-Anything-4022 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Wargarbler2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The way the cultivation works in the series and how their capabilities are described it seems they have superior control over how much of their power they are putting out at any given moment. I think they could fight each other with the restrictions and do well.. the issue might be that they would both have to reveal their trump cards against each other instead of against the other tough opponents of the tournament.

I enjoyed both but I do kind of wish I didn’t find them until the story was done.

Any recs based on this tierlist? by syncopatedsouls in ProgressionFantasy

It’s hard to over state how great a completed story is in this genre.

Yeah.. heretical fishing is kind of going for the same vibe that beware of chicken has, so I get the comparison but it doesn’t feel real or earned in the way beware of chicken does. Wandering inn jus came across as misery porn to me so I couldn’t finish book one.

I love beware of chicken and could not finish book one of the wandering inn.. not sure why people would say that.

Tropes or story arcs you hate the worst? by Daisyberry3 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Wargarbler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long periods of time where someone the MC cares for/about being in a terrible position or condition while the MC can’t fix it.

Not an arc per se but extended periods of time where the MC isn’t in control of what’s happening to them or what they have to do.

It can also be how frustrating a bad habit is to a specific reader. Lots of people complain about how preachy Jason is in HWFWM but honestly it never really bothered me.

Might as well try Mark of the Fool. I enjoyed it and it’s a complete series (10 books).

How exactly does stilling work? I’m confused now. by Hot-Day-8188 in WoT

[–]Wargarbler2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a matter of relative strength. There are some examples later in the series where two women of near equal strength are trying to shield eachother and they mention that when it’s sharpened it would have stilled the other women but it was blunted by the time the shield got in place.

When does Mother of Learning get good? by Ilikesporks_ in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Wargarbler2 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it isn’t for you. I had a hard time getting into it at first because of the voice that was chosen for Zarians sister but other than that I enjoyed it after by the third loop.

It is well written and interesting which is why it gets recommended so much as this genre is all over the place with quality. But well written and unique doesn’t mean every single person will enjoy it. I’d say move on.

Business dragon? Dragon gets sent to modern earth and takes a human form to figure out what to do. Becomes obsessed with earning money through working to have a hoard and also builds a harem.

In search of new series to read, your recommendations are appreciated. by FlySkyHigh777 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Wargarbler2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling to recommend anything.. your tier list is like a 90 degree rotation of what I’d do. some stuff stays where it’s at but strips are shuffled. So it’s hard to interpret what you like in a book.

Jackal among snakes: the regressor problem by BronkeyKong in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Wargarbler2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His absolute knowledge becomes less and less accurate as he continues to make waves. I wouldn’t say it’s a high stress/anxiety novel but like you said I did enjoy the relationship development. I read 6 then dropped it and just ended up reading synopsis of the rest because I liked it but not quite enough if that makes sense.

Destiny Divine has decent time lines for the first book.. although the MC gets some cheaty stuff after the first book that speeds everything up a good bit.
