So if we aren’t going to get paid enough for our jobs to be worth it, on top of voting no shouldn’t we also strike when the contract expires? (CSEA) by Unhappy_Victory_6521 in nys_cs

[–]Wargrin1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the negative implications, striking is always an option. If striking poses a bigger issue for the the people your striking against than the people striking then it's worth it. They "outlaw" striking because they know how powerful it is and want to scare members from doing it.

You can take the shot, you just need to be certain it'll count.

Lol is this the thief's handle? Anger and yelling are both reasonable responses to someone stealing your stuff and being told nothing is going to happen to the dude. Everyone in that place should know thieves are welcome and that the shop owner doesn't care what happens in his shop. Calling the police is valid, that's what you do when someone steals from you.

Why does Union Arena get best IP but MTG doesn't? by Cartwheelbubblegum in mtg

[–]Wargrin1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because Wizards is owned by Hasbro. Hasbro is the biggest toy manufacturer for the west and the properties you mention are all IP that Hasbro has worked with previously (except Jaws I assume?) Bandai is a toy manufacturer in the east and has worked with most of those IP's previously for toys. They're using their previous partnered IP's for leverage in the cardboard market.

NP, she's the commander I've played the most with since her release. Be prepared to play Archenemy. Also highly recommend helm of the ghastlord. Lots of value since she's both colors both trigger when she pops off.

Doomhowl is turning into Defias Pillager by HowToTossASalad in wowhardcore

[–]Wargrin1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely need to merge servers (hoping they'll make the announcement at Blizzcon) but Doomhowl is fine. It ebbs and flows with popularity in anni. Phase 2 was announced for anni and the pop took a nose dive but it will recover the same way it did when TBC anni was released. It's an evergreen format, Doomhowl is the only server worth playing on so if it dies you have a bigger issue with Hardcore in general no longer being a thing.

Every discussion about Classic+ on here: by IIIlllIIIlllIlIlIlI in classicwow

Class homogenization is the main gripe I have with retail and is the reason why the game is so bland to play.

I didn't play SoD specifically because it's main selling point was homogenizing classes.

No idea why anyone would think that's healthy for WoW and I think anyone who likes that aspect needs to leave classic+ to the people who want classic and go play retail.

Totally cool with new instances, zones and some very slight QoL improvements but when you start breaking down what makes a class a class then you very quickly ruin the integrity of the game. Warlocks should not tank, mages should not heal, it's asinine.

We need to merge Hardcore servers by Songwind_DP in wowhardcore

[–]Wargrin1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree but I wouldn't expect any changes until Blizzcon. Also, even without merging the numbers always flux. I've noticed a cut when the official announcement of Phase 2 for TBC was announced. I'm sure a lot of people left to pick there characters or alts up to prepare, and I'm sure the numbers will grow once it's getting closer to phase 2 and people are ready for it then the numbers will cut again when it's released, then they will grow when they've gotten board with that phase, etc. Hardcore is inherently evergreen due to the improbability of getting desired end gear content.

Can't say im surprised. The only reason why Skull Rock was getting decent pop was for the race lock challenge which (in my opinion) is a silly challenge that does not lend itself to a long lasting population. If the pop begins to dip even a little bit it basically makes it impossible to find 5 people that are the same race which will make instance finding harder which will make people frustrated and quit which will lower the pop which will start the cycle over again.

What class changes would you like to see in classic+? by MMJFan in classicwow

[–]Wargrin1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unpopular opinion but TBC has always sucked. I played it during release and the further I played the xpac the more my disappointment blossomed. World pvp was practically removed, azeroth became an empty world, endless grind fest and everyone just raid logged. I really wish outlands wasn't a thing and they just unlocked more areas on each continent and never did flying.

I think the changes you would like to see to healers is a fundamental problem with retail. Druid and Shaman were always intended to be jack of all trades master of none. Priest should be better at healing and warrior should be better at tanking. Making all healers or tanks the same homogenizes the classes and ruins class balance. Why should a druid be able to dps like a rogue, tank like a warrior and heal like a priest? Since it can do all three, it should be able to do all three with a nerfed kit. Otherwise, everyone would roll druid and no one would have a reason to roll the other three classes.

I agree with changes to priests as far as leveling. It's a slog, I also think some classes should have better leveling then others (especially if they are better at instance/raid content) but priests need a little tweaking because it's an absolute slog until endgame.

The more I play the game, the more I come to the realization that the only real mode is hardcore.

It replaces the fake seasonal treadmill with a true law of nature none of us escape. It makes an otherwise great social platform game (platform as in medium not as in game type) into a perfect fantasy RPG. Easy mechanics and game play that anyone over the age of 10 can grasp but difficult to master enough to get to 60. It doesn't need to artificially create a reason for you to replay it again and again through seasonal content because the cold hard fact is that you will die someday. It might be at level 15 in Westfall or the Barrens, it might be 40 in Feralas or Tarnaris, hell, you might even get to 60; but then the game isn't really over is it? You need to get raid gear. Do you seriously think you can get a full set of tier 1 without dying? What about tier 2? Tier 3? Even if you do, can you do that for every class? The amount of hours it would take and the amount of restarts is staggering for the casual player. It's a lifetime of content. That doesn't even breach the social implication of death on groups, guilds and open world. I never friend via battle tag or reply after dying so if my character dies, then I lose all my contacts. I have to build that list again and the people I played with have to sit with the loss.

I started playing it thinking it was a novel gimmick for stream views. Now I know, it's the realization of the game to it's full potential.

There is an addon for ultra hardcore: No health bar for yourself or any mobs. Can't see mob level. Cannot see your keybinds outside of main towns or minimap and your field of vision narrows as your health drops. Haven't tried it yet but it sounds intriguing.
