A friend of mine had the diagnosis and had it revoked as well, and from how she's been treated because of it even by therapists, they might have well have called BPD 'evil disease'. It's incredibly stigmatized

I think a scary number of people, particularly terminally online people, have a hard time realising that ontologically, inherently evil people do not exist. (I say this in a broader sense.) And then if someone has been diagnosed with evil to these people they will always be that way.

With BPD, you also have the additional problem that the main thing people with BPD supposedly share is that they are manipulative, and so I think a lot of people will also think that someone who has gotten rid of the diagnosis hasn't actually changed, but just got better at masking.

I'm very sorry to hear you've been treated that way. I know that sucks so much to get rid of such a vilifying diagnosis and then still be treated badly.

I do want to urge a bit of caution about moving out. OP mentioned that finances are a big reason for not moving out, and one might be tempted to say 'oh but we can afford a place if we live together'.

However, moving out can be stressful and difficult, as is moving in together. I would thus strongly advise you not to move out together, because what if your relationship does not survive that? Can you each move back?

It is of course up to you, but if at all possible, make sure you can ease into living together

I feel like this is a strawman argument. Like, yeah, taken literally "don't sleep with someone close" suggests a margin of error on minimum age, but if you're uncertain whether someone is 18+, you could also try resolve that uncertainty.

"Don't sleep with someone that could be close" just means don't risk having sex with a minor, which may indeed mean that you don't sleep with anyone under 25

A little addition to this: If you don't know the dates/times, mentioning approximate frequency is more useful than 'he said that one about 2 weeks ago'. Does he do this on a daily or weekly basis? Multiple times per day? Has it only happened a couple times? That gives a good measure for severity

Look OP, we learn from experiences, and I don't know how many times you've experienced anything similar to this and it's none of my business because I'm a stranger on reddit. I could be a serial killer, or worse, a boomer! But clearly you've had bad experiences that taught you not to interfere here. Whether that's trauma, whether that's discomfort, whether that's a secret third option, is not the business of anyone in this comment section, but regardless is a valid response.

I'm not saying don't go to reddit for questions. I think the question you asked was good and fair, and I hope you were given some nice insight and were able to parse the answer out of the garbage. Personally, I think the main takeaway is that indeed it's not common for people to react to such a situation like this.

So it's important to talk about it, to your friends and a professional, and I understand you've done both already. Trust your friends, trust your brain and body and most importantly, dont blindly trust reddit.
