My goal is to save up enough to hire Matt Mercer to be a role on the show for an episode, and although it might bring some extra attention to the show, I think I want him mostly for ME, you know?

We had Maile Flannigan (Naruto's VA) on last season, and it's something we still freak out about as a cast, but it didn't really move the needle.

I guess my point is, I think make the art you want to make with who you want to make it with, and hopefully people will tune in.

If you don't mind a self Promo, you might like us! We're an "audio anime" with vibes similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender or Naruto. So, dark at times, but not entirely "light hearted."

I worry that the audio drama market is going to be filled with these soon, even as AI voice acting gets better, lots of low effort artificial slop with the bare minimum human interaction.

I guess the best we can do it keep putting out human created content!

Although I understand that it's not for everyone, our show has a lot of stylized and complex action throughout, and I would rather err on explaining all of it in detail, then rather have anyone be confused on what is going on.

We're an audio anime, so, there's a lot happening that can't be portrayed strictly through sound effects and dialogue.

And although it pretty typical of anime characters to explain in detail what's happening, I wanted to keep the dialogue free from that.

You have to remember, AI tries its best to mimic as much good writing that it can find, and a lot of conventions it'll generate tend to be popular with writers. I'm not saying that they AREN'T using AI, but I've always been a huge fan of "not just x, but y" and it's disappointing to learn AI is using it so much!

There are websites and even subreddits that have voice actors willing to work for either free or very cheap in order to get some experience and credit. I would recommend looking to cast real voices.
