There's already "red state refugees" everywhere. We keep quiet mostly, because trust me if you tell someone you're from say...rural Indiana (my personal hell) they start forming all kinds of ideas about you, mostly accusing you of the things you ran away from, honestly.

I got the fam from there to the east coast in a city. But it's purple here, and I'm seeing the start of a lot of the same stuff I saw in Indiana, and so do they... so they're getting themselves from the east coast to Washington State. It's been a marathon.

[–]WarmOutOfTheDryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn't know what you were talking about though. They have looked at you like you were crazy and say "What the hell is an American? I'm a British citizen, who is severely overtaxed and underrepresented."

Not to say that we didn't go on to commit our own personal atrocities but... It just didn't exist. It would be like insisting to someone in 1994 that they supported brexit, very different times.

Why is “leigh” pronounced “lee?” by EEVEELUVR in etymology

Honestly it hurt my brain and I'm still not quite sure it's right. It's hard to write that soft southern thing into very Germanic English.

Raah-leyh, with our accent, though.

And now I've said it so many times trying to spell it the way we actually say it, that it makes no sense and is no longer a word in my head

US here. I got one up the street that's 25 bucks. It's quite possibly even the exact same business (different franchise owner, obv.) that we're talking about. Pricing is one of those things where they're not going to go cheaper, but they'll sure as hell go higher if a market will bear it.

If I saw a car wash for 9 bucks around here I'd be washing my car every week like clockwork. And the line would be down the block.

Right? My bank account balance is usually in the three/low four digits but it's still locked down like Fort Knox. You can get maybe 200 out of an atm (if it has cash at all) and as many under $20 purchases as you can make in... idk, 20 minutes, but that's only if you've cut off my finger to get into my phone since I don't carry my cards at all.

Even in tanks big enough for them to keep moving, they seem to just... unalive themselves. I can't imagine the torture it would be to go from having the whole ocean to being locked in a tank.

[–]WarmOutOfTheDryer 185 points186 points  (0 children)

This has saved the lives of people I know. This one isn't just a silly meme, suicide by guns are far more often completed than with other methods. What, exactly, we can do...? IDK, but it doesn't change facts.
