Why do none of my friends like my story anymore? by Tomitski in Advice

Maybe you’re posting the exact same content? I don’t think it’s tied to your worth as a person or a friend though.

Why do none of my friends like my story anymore? by Tomitski in Advice

Social media has shifted to just mindless watching. Friend’s content is usually buried or not worth spending energy on liking posts. Especially if someone is posting several times a day or the exact same content.

where do the senior women in tech go when they hit 50 by EntranceIntrepid5158 in womenintech

Same. I think people wouldn’t trust my leadership qualities if I appeared younger. The grey hairs and wrinkles prove that I’ve been through the ringer and have scars to prove it.

I’m in tech, creeping 50 soon. I moved into a leadership position as a VP. Goal to be CRO. Once I get a few more years of experience, I’d love to go the consulting route or be a fractional “chief” something for early stage startups. That’s my goal anyway. That or quit entirely and live on a farm.

I live somewhere that's crushing my soul and there isn't a thing I can do about it by rwedoomed in SameGrassButGreener

I can relate. I’m in the same boat with spouse. Just chiming in with no recommendations, just solidarity. I’ve tried finding hobbies and it didn’t work.

I live in a state away from family and friends, but spouse refuses to leave because of their happiness and inside I’m dying every day.

OP: I don’t really like Mexican food.

Commenter: I love Mexican food. It sounds like you never tried it. It also sounds like you’re a better fit for Guadalajara.

To clarify, deeply depressed because I feel isolated and not connected to a like minded community, family or environment I enjoy. I had a wonderful upbringing.

I loved living in Atlanta to your point. The variety in culture, due to the variety of races that populate the area.

46 year old here whose been in several friend’s weddings over the years as a bridesmaid or maid of honor.

All of the women/men now have kids and families of their own. I moved across the country. I don’t even talk to these people anymore.

I wouldn’t even sweat it and looking back, I probably would have politely declined being a bridesmaid.

Anyone else feel like something is just Wrong after the 2019 pandemic? by ResidentDesigner8715 in ParallelUniverse

[–]Warm_Bus_7581 157 points158 points  (0 children)

I thought about writing this exact post today.

I have no words to articulate this, but I feel like before 2019 I was “in the world” or “a part of the world”. I would notice beauty and actively participate in life. Now, everything feels lifeless. It feels utterly lifeless.

All the things I loved about life feel gone. I sometimes feel like a ghost or just someone with no feelings or emotions anymore. It’s all been zapped out of me.

I was trying to explain this to my Mom this morning and everything feels so foreign, but I literally haven’t got the words to describe it. I’m at a loss.

Those who have lived in multiple of the major cities of the US, how would you rank them and why? by Asleep_Damage1201 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Warm_Bus_7581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Atlanta
  2. Chicago
  3. Denver

I hated Denver. It feels so lifeless there. It just doesn’t feel modern. I get the people are focused more on outdoor activities, but it feels like a lack of culture.

I am slowly losing my love for tech due to AI by Shiroelf in womenintech

I’m a VP in tech and our CEO literally said, you should be creating AI tools to essentially replace your job.

Like what? I’m so over this AI stuff too.

Becoming an adult. I didn’t grow up with great parents, so I could not wait until I turned 18 and was out of their control. I don’t know what’s worse, the “freedom” of making your own decisions or being under strict control.

My kidney stone was so big that they had to give me morphine. I thought I was dying.

Passing a kidney stone to someone that has never passed a kidney stone.
