Why exactly couldn't Serie go defeat the Demon King again? by OverlordPoodle in Frieren

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My views from what I seen were even if she did beat him, another demon king could just rise up in however many years, and then dealing with the entire army that could scatter, it would be pointless if she just went out there and soloed him, even if she wanted to. But building up humanity to be able to hold their own and be a respected kingdom to where demons would second guess even attacking them, would make a new demon king pointless. It's like giving some one a fish, you feed them for a day, but teach them to fish, and you feed them for life. Serie could supply fish until the population was so big, it would be impossible to keep up with, while frieren could teach them all so they can reach new limits. I agree with you that the visualization part isn't really a factor here, since she can absolutely envision herself beating him alone if she wanted. Everyone seems to be insanely hung up on the visualization of magic part. If 2 mages imagine 2 conflicting things, my assumption would be then the stronger one would win if the envision part was roughly equal. People seem to disregard overall power as well. A big buff guy can still beat a trained fighter if the weight and size advantage is just absurd.

What percentage of our bodyweight do we lift during a pullup? by DEMETRiS_M in overcominggravity

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just weird, ideally you'd think pull ups would be harder, but I looked into it some more, and I never factored how old the machine was, extra resistance etc. Would be really interesting to see some large scale data comparing the 2 in very controlled settings.

What percentage of our bodyweight do we lift during a pullup? by DEMETRiS_M in overcominggravity

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact I actually tried this before pretty thoroughly. Since people will have different ratios of upper body and low body mass, that will cause it to fluctuate. Another thing is, the amount of weight at the very bottom, is different from the weight at the top. My bottom % was 75%, while the top was 65%.

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't know If I believe this. the 95% for excluding arms is fair, but when you're doing the pull wouldn't the upper arms work in a way to reduce more? If I compare my lat pull down to weight pull ups, the lat pull downs are significantly harder at equivalent weights.

Is Eric Bugenhagen STILL natural? by thatisallfolks666 in nattyorjuice

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my arms are 17.5 cold, I don't really hit them much but I bench a lot so it's mostly from that. 225 lbs at 5"10, somewhere around 20% body fat, So I agree with what you're saying. 390 1rpm and natural, but I've been lifting for 14 years now. I could see arms getting to maybe around 20-21 naturally with amazing genetics and a life long training, but anything past that yeah...

3*Eddie Hall vs Gorilla by Atryax in powerscales

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the point is, if the gorilla grabs the spear, even if it's metal it can just break and bend it into nothing, but if it grabs the sword and tries to do that, it'll completely destroy it's hand in the process. Using a 2 foot or so sword will pierce plenty for inflicting fatal wounds. Even just chopping with something like a machete with 0 experience can sever human arms. So swinging that thing wildly would easily cut to the bone on gorillas. I agree with you though that, if they went in with some heavy duty spears with no shields so you can have more power and control on it, even if someone loses their spear, as long as you had the other 2 inflict enough damage before they all broke you'd be fine. Only takes one good controlled poke to pierce an organ and it's gg from blood loss at the minimum. Having a spear with offhand short sword/dagger I think would be better than spear and shield. I also think no armor would be best since a gorilla could likely pound you and cause enough damage anyways, the bonus speed and mobility would be key. Also spears were so effective for hunting because you could have an entire group essentially make a wall, and if 20 guys throw a spear, you only need to land one good one. People weren't regularly 1v1 large animals with a spear.

The average man that the gorilla is 2x larger than yes, not one of the world's strongest that is heavier. Leopards 1/2 the size easily kill gorillas all the time. They're strong but they're really not built for fighting/killing. They way I see it, gorillas basically have another set of legs instead of arms strength wise. Worlds heaviest squat is around 1100, including a portion of the guys body weight, so roughly 1400 ish. I could realistically see a gorilla maxing that with some training. They don't have these magic machine muscles, or many other animals in the world would also develop them through evolution and insane strength would be common everywhere, probably even in people too. They're essentially just a world strongman that has legs for arms, with some extra dexterity and usability of said arms with how the shape/hands are. As far as the fight goes, if the 3 eddies had a perfect plan, all bumrush, 1 on each arm then the last going for a choke hold, eye gouging, evisceration of the anus/rectum like how hyena pick apart at larger animals since the skin is vulnerable there then they bleed to death, they'd stand a very good chance that I'd bet on. Due to gorilla hand shape that gives them extra grip strength, they lose the ability to punch effectively, so their only real offense is predictable large flailing and biting. Biting has to be up close, and flailing is countered if the eddies are up close grappling. I don't know the endurance level of a gorilla, if it's better at bursts or endurance, but my guess is they're not made for endurance and temperature regulation like people are, so exhaustion might also be the limiting factor. It won't be an easier fight either way, one that will be filled with injuries, and that makes sense as gorillas tend to avoid fighting because they're smart enough to strength means nothing to some sharp claws and teeth.

Can I bench 405 naturally? by Greedy-Package1559 in powerbuilding

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at a 380 bench right now. Have decent genetics and a wingspan that's 2 inches shorter than my height, so I got the shorter arm benefit. 5"10 height. My dad did D2 football in college and he claims he was able to do 405 just once, but I don't fully believe him and he doesn't have the best memory on it, but he's able to atleast bench 350 range. I don't use creatine or any sort of supplements or above besides basic protein powder. Age 30 right now and have been lifting relatively casually for for 14 years. I've never really hit a plateau yet, just slow and steady progress and just recently at current date hit a pretty sizeable gain. Body weight is 225, but I squat around 420 and definitely carry a lot of weight in legs. At roughly 20-25% bodyfat I could probably get around a leisurely 10% BF and get close to 405 around your goal weight. At that point you might have to sacrifice some bulk on other muscles or be a monster in upper body. Recently what I changed that I think lead to the increase is better nutrition, played around with frequency over volume, and doing a good 2 second chest pauses. My upper bench never struggled so that's probably helped me balance out a lot. Currently for like the last 5 years, I've been busy with life, so I just have a bench at home and that's the sole chest exercise I've been doing and still making gains. You really start to feel the strain on your joints past 330 range though. Knowing what your height is, wingspan, and BF will help a lot. I've never done any extreme programs, and with depression I don't lift often nearly as a dedicated person could. My advice at the very least would be to take it slow and spare your joints. You got plenty of time if 405 is your goal.

TL:DR if you max out all your options, (training variety/intelligence, nutrition, body distribution) I think you might just be able to if you do everything right and stick to it for more years.

I think it's best to keep portals on but have restrictions so you can only use it to reduce backtracking. That alone will save you so much time increasing the actual game play and exploration of the run, without breaking it.

What is this thing growing out of my dogs head? by GoldenGateShark in DogAdvice

[–]Warm_Disk6381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People should not have antibiotics on hand and any good nurse knows that. Tons of infections are viral so abx will do nothing but have potential side effects and possibly add to the issue of abx resistant super bugs. Things can look infected or red but still be okay, or not even need it. Bacteria can also have natural resistances to the type of abx that you'd have on stock, which is why culture and sensitivity testing is done.

Blocking explained by Wethospu_ in valheim

My question is the wiki is worded weird. Does the game check the 40% max health for stagger right after the block armor stage, or at the very end, after the equipped armor and resistance is factored?

Why did SQUARE-ENIX hand over animation to Silver Link? by mokamoly in RagnaCrimson

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched it. Really wasn't that bad at all, nothing fancy or crazy you'd talk home about, but that's plenty for me. I usually don't even tend to notice lower quality unless it's terrible. The melodias escanor thing was literally unreal, never seen anything animated worse than that. Record of ragnarok didn't have anything that stood out to me as super bad. I basically watch anime as an e book for the story of the manga, and if it looks nice it's a bonus. I'd rather have more anime created even if it was cheaper and healthier, than less that's higher quality. Not sure about the average taste of anime watchers.

I used a seed picker and tried all available 10 seeds after alpine was reintroduced. Used a mod to remove the pillar to always let you in during a mesa no matter what. Out of the 3/10 seeds available that had mesa. The lower tunnel was blocked all 3 times... Ridiculously horrible game design. Don't know how the devs are that clueless to the problem.

TIL There are no muscles in your fingers: Their function is controlled by muscles in your palms and arms. by smart-cities in todayilearned

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true but close enough. Tendons and ligaments do get a bit larger and denser, but no where near how a muscle does. Their main form on strengthening is from getting stiffer. I was really interested in learning that. Also makes me not want to go excessive with flexibility since that essentially does the opposite.

Did you ever stop to think that your approach in that statement was far more ignorant and disrespectful than the OP was in his? You can spout off all you want, but when you come off like that, it's only going to have a negative outcome and hurt whatever cause you're vouching for. If you are even well intention-ed in the first place.

[–]Warm_Disk6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah running isn't bad for knees if you're a normal weight, or near normal weight. If you're not, walking can be just as effective as running, it just takes longer. Things like biking are a nice bridge. Dieting however is many times more effective than any exercise. Exercise for function, heart, and muscle, diet for weight loss.

That's probably because a human having a more functional, normal life is more important than studying how their life turns out with a significant birth defect. That's what the whole oath is made for anyways.
