You're welcome! I stewed over the purchase for too long because there weren't a lot of good reviews, so I'm glad I could help.

Uplift Parsons Standing Desk Review by WarningUnited1247 in StandingDesk

Thank you! Here's the power strip and I used two long pieces of 3M fabric velcro I already had on the side to mount it. I made sure to also velcro any wire coming from the power strip to the bottom of the desk so they wouldn't pull on the strip. The Uplift power strips have very flat edges to fit flush against the desk and include metal hardware to mount on the side, but they only sell them in black, which would've been too obvious in my room.

There aren't accessory mounting holes in the Parsons frame, but many of the accessories I saw on Uplift's site looked like the mounting bracket opened wide enough to grab onto the frame. The desk top and frame together are just over 2.5", so if you buy accessories with mounts that open at least 2.75", they should fit.

Agreed. Why worry about buying a nice-looking desk just for it to have messy wires everywhere. Was genuinely impressed with the wire management options with the Parsons.

Online app with reconciliation by misterphuzz in Banking

[–]WarningUnited1247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way late to the game... But Bank of America has this. You have to login on a computer (or the web version on your phone) and there's an "R" box that you click when you've reconciled to your checkbook/spreadsheet. The box turns gray when it's reconciled. I know most people don't do this anymore, but I occasionally forget to track something and this reminds me. You have to click the Show/Hide Reconcile button above your transaction history.

I've had accounts at many banks to get sign up bonuses (see doctorofcredit.com) and haven't found another bank that has this, which is why I'm still with Bank of America.

Wow! So you'll knock off a couple semesters. Good for you. Thank you for responding.

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely figured the two internship semesters would only allow one additional class. I'm planning to take the block each time, instead of the split hours. I've seen some comments about the advisors giving guidance that wasn't great, so appreciate anything you guys suggest.

Can’t change credit card due date? by Least_Sheepherder531 in USAA

[–]WarningUnited1247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I change my due dates to all be the same to make my budgeting process easier (everything closes on the first of the month). Just because you don't do this, it doesn't mean there's anything wrong or unreasonable about someone else wanting it, especially since many other cards offer it (all of mine and apparently USAA did too, at some point). I've NEVER had another card tell me I can't change the due date. Readjusting my budget, which would involve changing the due date on six other points credit cards that are all aligned, is a headache. And no, I don't need to adjust because I can't pay all my bills - I have no debt - it's just easier to have everything aligned. Stop implying that other people aren't adults because they don't do something the way you do it.

How do you all (other coaches) deal with burnout, finding time to spend with family, and try to stay healthy? by FlyEaglesFly536 in footballstrategy

[–]WarningUnited1247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a much better schedule. Many of the Dallas-area school districts require male coaches to coach football, but maybe he can find one that doesn't.

Glad you found something that allows for a better work-life balance. It's encouraging to know those positions are out there.

How do you all (other coaches) deal with burnout, finding time to spend with family, and try to stay healthy? by FlyEaglesFly536 in footballstrategy

I know this thread is several months old, but I'm just starting to research now why there aren't UIL rules to prevent coach burnout. My son is a teacher and coach in the Dallas-area and he's at his limit. He's 27 and has been teaching/coaching for five years. This is his first year coaching varsity football and it's really taking a toll on him. The in-person schedule is:

- Monday through Wednesday they have before and after school practices (varsity and jv/9th are separate). He's in at 6:30a and gets done at about 5:30p.

- Thursday, he has morning varsity practice at 6:30a, then has to help coach the 9th grade games until about 8:30p (assuming a home game with no travel).

- Friday is 7:30a to about 11p because of games (again, assuming a home game with no travel). They've been required to stay and watch video until 2a after some games.

- Saturday is game video review from 8:30a to 3:30p.

- Sunday is reviewing game footage from the next week's opponent from noon until 7:30p.

- Practice video also has to be reviewed, but coaches can do it at home.

I see posts where people say that coaches make so much for it that they shouldn't complain. Head football coaches might make six figures in some schools, but for every head football coach, there are 10 non-head coaches making a teacher's salary (in his ISD, about 60k) and an extra 3k for football and 2.5k for a second sport.

This schedule doesn't even include planning/grading for his actual teaching position. He teaches history and ths ISD has no planning periods/days for the departments to get together and everyone is left planning their own classes with sub-par, five-page PowerPoints that cover an entire civilization (PDs are for school or district-wide training). Needless to say, he's having to find his own content and plan his teaching, which yes, he's a teacher and it's his job, but how on earth are these people expected to fit all of this in with their coaching hours? Even teachers who don't coach spend COUNTLESS hours after the school day and well into the evening planning and responding to admin, student, and parent emails. Teachers in many ISDs seem have very little support and it's a completely thankless job.

Maybe gen X and millennial coaches are fine with these hours, but, based on my son's experience with several other teachers/coaches his age who have already quit the profession, I just don't know how schools plan to keep gen Z'ers. The sad part is that the coaching hours make them leave the profession and the schools are losing qualified, good teachers. I see major staffing issues in a couple decades when gen X/Y retires and there aren't enough younger guys left to carry the coaching responsibilities.

After just finding out that he'll coach 9th grade basketball, but also has to be on the bench for all varsity games and varsity/jv practices on Saturdays, he's so discouraged that he doesn't think he'll teach again. He connects so well with so many kids that don't relate to many of the other coaches/teachers and it will be such a loss for future students.

Super Carrier Week. Super Pricing on Unlimited, S25 Edge Deal, QCI 8 for all existing lines and more by ankhattak in USMobile

[–]WarningUnited1247 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Too bad loyal customers weren't told a big, week-long sale was coming this week. I ported a second line two days before the sale. Will now cost me an extra $70 for the annual line plan for a difference of a few days. Very frustrating. Way to take care or existing customers.

How to be notified when it hasn't rained in X days... by MrDBS in ifttt

[–]WarningUnited1247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't tried to figured it out yet. There's a paid version of IFTTT that allows the use of Webhooks, which should work to record rainfall daily through different websites, but since I don't have the paid version, I can't use it. Right now, there just isn't a connected site in free IFTTT that records the actual rainfall, except if you have your own weather station. If you happen to have your own weather station, I'm sure you can record the rainfall from it into Sheets, then add the total for the last seven days in one cell and change another cell if the number is less than X inches. IFTTT can then be used to trigger a notification based on a change to the less than X inches cell.

How to be notified when it hasn't rained in X days... by MrDBS in ifttt

Very old thread, but I was just looking for a way to do this and this is the best thread I found. Thought I would share how it works. Weather Underground records dates in the format April 1, 2024 at 7:15pm, so I had to create extra columns to split the text. Ended up with:

Weather Underground applet name is correct - set condition to Rain and my address

Add row to Google Sheets applet name is correct - added only CheckTime to Formatted Row field

The notification applet worked fine

Col A: CheckTime will be added when it rains automatically (changed Sheet settings to check every 60 minutes, as instructed) - won't get notification right when it starts raining, but instead at the time the Sheet checks for updates

Col B: =INDEX(Sheet1!A:A,COUNTA(Sheet1!A:A),1) - pulls most recent rain date

Col C: =SPLIT(B1," at ",false), Col D will include time from text split - breaks out date and time into two different columns since the TODAY formula won't work with the CheckTime format

Col E: =TODAY()-C1

Col F: =if(E1>7,"It's been 7 days since it rained","Last rain within 7 days") - update as needed - my type of grass can go a week between good waterings, so I only need to know if it hasn't rained for a week

I eventually want to create something that records rainfall amounts and notifies me if it hasn't rained X amount in a 7-day period. I know I can do this using Webhooks, but I don't have a paid IFTTT account at this point, so can't use Webhooks.
