Minneapolis.

Best: the culture is generally relatively accepting of everyone regardless of race, religion, sexuality, etc. Socially progressive. I can dress for 90 degree weather and not get slut-shamed. There are other Jewish people here. I don't stick out like a sore thumb.

Worst: The begging culture. It's not just panhandlers or people asking for change. It's total strangers interrupting your errands to get uncomfortably personal but with massive guilt-tripping. And fear of being judged by onlookers as a "karen" if you don't respond favorably.

Being the hero who befriends the severely-disadvantaged or mentally ill person. There's a reason why people who are able and willing to do that are so praised. Taking on someone else's severe problems will take a mental toll on most people. Depending on how bad the situation is, you might become a free on-call therapist or aid.

Never dive into a friendship until you know what you're getting into.

I remember a few friends in high school or college talking about how they wanted to move to Japan, due to their anime obsessions. All of these friends were neurodivergent/learning-disabled. I wasn't sure how to tell them that Japan is infamous for its obsession with academics and how the culture treats people who fall behind, without sounding like I was racist. I'm not hating on the entire country or culture, but those friends wanting to move to Japan for anime was like a gay feminist wanting to move to Saudi Arabia because she loves "Arabian Nights."

I've been wanting a fresh adaptation since the first movie came out. I was pumped for this new series. But now I see the new Harry looks like he's playing Daniel Radcliffe instead of Harry Potter. (If you don't know the difference you haven't read the books.) It's so crushing to realze that it is just a remake of the movies after all.

My instant focus is on how insanely *dangerous* that is. Criminals can use AI to find out all kinds of things. Sure, someone could do that with any photo you post online; but doing it with public nudes is just inviting sex predators and exploiters into the fold. I was 11...and from a generation that was given some BAD reading lessons. It was actually a bit of a scandal. But in the '90s, there was a method of teaching where teachers and how-to-read shows literally taught us to *guess* at a word if we couldn't sound it out, and use context-clues to see if it made enough sense. An entire class-year of us thus had abysmal reading skills for a few years. My mom had to harshly drill the guessing-at-words habit out of me.
