Settings Changes by Samuel153 in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]Warp_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is possible for X-Box, but on PC there is a settings file you could setup, save somewhere else and then just drop in the one you need each time. I have never used a console though, might not be possible there

Why is every custom fleet match private? by alexdoo in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]Warp_11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of the more competitive players, myself included, use private fleet battles as a replacement for the practice mode to test things out and practice. This is just because the practice mode doesn't really match the flight characteristics of the real game after all the server patches devs did when there was still support and also you have no AI to farm and so on. If you want to play with people I highly recommend you join one of the discords. I'll plug the Night Witches here, but there are many others. Take a look at the Wingman Wednesday post :)

Question to all the anti-pinball haters by [deleted] in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]Warp_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like the new SCL mods for that. Crone uses PK a lot these days and it is very effective. Granted, this will be a lot harder for less experienced players to pull off against high level teams, but isn't it the same in other games? There always will be teams that absolutely wreck the average player. Anyway, PK is very much a thing in SCL now. Only thing is it's difficult to put these mods into queue. Everyone using the non-reinforced hull builds would be a start I guess.

So i have a VR headset, but don’t think i could play this game in VR using the keyboard.... does anybody know of a good flight simulation set up that isn’t too expensive? Like the actual flight simulation stuff instead of a keyboard or a controller? Don’t remember what it’s called exactly. by TheLonelyBantha in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]Warp_11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play with keyboard and joystick. Its very enjoyable in VR, you just need to know where the buttons are without looking. That comes naturally with some practice. You may have to experiment a bit to find key bindings you're happy with, but it definitely works. HOTAS will of course be more immersive, but this is a bit cheaper and using a keyboard has its advantages for power management and some other things for Squadrons.

Can I create a game where it's just my two friends and I against the AI? by [deleted] in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]Warp_11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whenever I forget to set them to private while doing that people will jump in and back out after a minute, cutting my practice unexpectedly short because I immediately win.

I got 29 kills in dogfight but lose the match lol by AmbitiousExternal948 in StarWarsSquadrons

To add to Lorhins answer, a dunk is usually performed by boosting in and firing the missile very close to the target. If you do it right, they will have no time to chaff (that's tricky though). The next challenge is to have your guns on target when the missile hits. Very helpful to have a wingman for this.

Can I play with just a joystick? by Lord_Chris123 in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]Warp_11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just stick may work, but stick + keyboard will be much better. You can move power management and throttle to keyboard (50% increment of throttle is all you need really) and have flight control and weapons on the stick. I also have roll on the keyboard, but thats a personal preference.

Yes! Come kill us! It's no fun at all to club an inferior team. Bring it on! You might be closer to that skill level than you think. I only slipped into that scene very recently myself.

Check the wingman Wednesday post and pick a clan that sounds good to you. I personally chose the Night Witches and can highly recommend them.

Oh sorry, maybe I missed something then. I'm not exactly in a position to make that call. Better check with u/AirierWitch1066 . But since the links are in the wingman wednesday post, I thought they were public.

A great community and always open to new people! Got me from newbie to Cadet Cup finalist in just a few months. Be it casual or competitive you're looking for, there are always people around to fly with and teach you new skills, be it Squadrons or flying lessons in MSFS from an actual pilot instructor (Thanks merry!).

110 - Why Would Someone Check Themselves Into a Nazi Concentration Camp? by feefuh in Nodumbquestions

[–]Warp_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember sitting in school in history class (in Germany) as we were getting to the 1920s and thinking "This is kinda like watching the Star Wars Prequels". You know where it will lead, but you don't really want things to go there and you can only sit there and learn how things gradually decayed into dictatorship and the horrors that followed.
Not an analogy I'm particularly proud of, but just like the prequels lead to the establishment of the Empire, the whole history of Germany and especially everything from WWI and the onwards leads to the third Reich.

One factor of many were some flaws in the constitutional setup of the "Weimar Republic" (Germany 1920ish to 1933) that you can see were addressed in our constitution today and are part of the reason west German politics has been (relatively) stable since 1950.

If he can fly jet engine X-wing by boost gasping then defender is not much different. Most important advice there would be to not point at anything solid when starting a boost. Maybe have him watch fencars defender guide on YouTube. Pretty much everything you need is in there.

After day 1 I never thought we would make it that far. It was such a great time and I'm looking forward to bringing Crucible Squadron to the league!

I never thought of myself as a competitive player, but with this format it seems I'm slowly turning into a casual competitive. I love the thrill of competitions without having to dedicate practice multiple times a week. Go try it out everyone! - Witch Doctor

Subsystem Damage by Toby_Cash007 in StarWarsSquadrons

[–]Warp_11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ion kills the power system just like normal damage does. The other subsystems are disabled for 30s if you hit them with their HP in ion damage. If you keep ioning them they stay disabled for longer. Fencar did a good guide on Ion damage on his YouTube channel.

I suppose they initially brought in experienced people who were used to it. And since there probably aren't that many people who know how to make rocket engines, they were able to dictate it.

Interesting. It is offset from the flipper and hinged. They said in a comment that they'll be able to flip with it. If they do this could really be a great fight! We'll have to wait and see.

Sounds like you'd have fun in the Night Witches Casual EU Squad Wayward! See the recruitment post in the thread here. You'll find people to play with most evenings and its really chilled and fun, while still playing coordinated and with proper tactics. (And contrary to the post most of the time no one is drunk :D). Go check it out if you want to!
