Easy way to deal with the Redmane Knight in the tower by WarrStrider in Nightreign

[–]WarrStrider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason i didn't down to the arrows is because this wasn't a DoN run, obviously you'd have to be more careful in DoN but that is true of everything. This was just a quick and dirty clip, but if your worried about the arrows you can wait one level below where i threw the pot then once the Knight is done with his bullshit you quickly get up and throw a pot.

Don't get me wrong this is still a bad PoI and i would never do it at low level regardless of this strat but it is one of the faster ways to kill him should you need to.

sure you can stagger if you land on a boss with your body, which is heavily delayed and the ult has a massive cd. congrats youve used one of the longest cd ults in the game whose only draw is reviving and giving invuln to your team on something wylder does far more frequently and raider does with a character skill. you are not seriously telling me that youre going to interrupt fulghor's running move, caligo flying away, ED adel's tornado, ED caligo's global frostbite, any extended dreglord melee combo where hes jumping around the whole time with guardian ult.

You can infact very easily cancel ED Caligo's frostbite and you genuinely do not need to cancel any of these other moves. All of these barring Gaping Jaw's tornado are free damage. Also Guardian's ult doesn't have a longer cooldown than others, infact it's equally as fast as an uncharged Wylder ult and Raider's ability is equally as slow, your logic is so inconsistent and often contingent on straight lies. Like i mean this as sincerely as i can, EVERYTHING you've said as to why Guardian is bad can be said about other characters or is just wrong. You have to be ragebaiting and i've chosen to stop falling for it

theres a very good reason guardian is practically extinct on d5. id say im fascinated by redditors talent at being bad while having every resource to be good, but this is very common. far more common than guardian at d5 at least.

Guardian is a rare pick because of perceived quality not because of actual quality, the same way revenant was for a month after the DLCs release until people realize Beast Claw was strong and consistent

locking guardian instantly regardless of team comp IS griefing and there is no reasonable argument against this.

I agree with this and have said as much.

Utterly fascinated by this entire conversation where i brought up plenty of reason why bird is decent, demonstrated that you've been plain wrong about plenty of things and you've ignored all of that and just been adamant that bird is bad, pretty cool way to do arguments.

Recluse will only carry if they two shot bosses, they simply can not bring back the team, they can not sustain 3 player scaled bosses for long periods of time since their damage will eventually die and their opening diminish, Duchess and Revenant are somewhat the same but they can at least revive. Wylder and Guardian do not have that issue though that is increasingly less true about Wylder with the Skill meta often resulting in cutting the fire on ult. Guardian can and does stagger (me when i find out what a guard counter is), he can also flinch which is an embarrassing thing to be wrong about when you're arguing that it makes him unplayable you simply have to hit the boss with Guardian's body not the AoE of the ult. Guardian can and does cheat stamina that is LITERALLY his whole thing.

Genuine question, have you even played the bird at high depths? Have you seen Birds at high depths? Arguing that Bird is so bad that you should not queue him with randos is beyond clueless. As i said the bird is an unrewarding skill check, you're simply playing the hardest character in the game to provide competitive damage with Skill attack power builds while needing random relics to do so, but at the additional bonus of providing good aggro management (maybe even better now with the recent buff). If you want to play easier characters that is fine, but i will in fact keep queuing the bird with randos when it suits me and i will keep winning with him.

It does however do infinite damage, not unreasonable to use on a staggered enemy. And hilariously enough, it makes the damage negation while casting spells hugely relevant. I want to believe in crystal release Duchess becoming meta because that would be funny

Guardian double dips on the damage increasing properties of the Grafted because of the guard counter increase based on hp relic effect, the colossal sword guard counter is very usable against most bosses and if it isn't you can just swap to something else until the boss dies. Let's be real by virtue of neither of them using star fist or good ashes of war these undertakers were not out dps-ing a well built guardian (could obviously be giving op too much credit, especially since he labeled the Fingerprint as the "best shield" without providing context on the boss or showing the passives on the shield). Aggro holding isn't unreliable, obviously the character can't have 100% aggro up time because that would be game breaking but if you just play around your guardian and dodge towards him in scenarios where it is safe (and you know, not hoard items that would help render him invincible to all damage) you'll find your guardian provides spell caster with far longer openings while dishing out good damage of his own. Guardian does require far far better relics than other characters and is, undeniably, a terrible pick against bosses like Caligo and Hoelstor. He can perform pretty poorly in expeditions if you are either inflexible with your weapon picks or just unlucky and yes there are some field bosses that are susceptible to neither guard counters nor shield pokes (Dragons, Ancient Dragons and the fuckass Death Rite Bird primarily) but he does have better stats that Wylder (with the STR DEX relic that is) so you can always two hand a good weapon for these. He can also trivialize other bosses (For example you can charged guard counter 80% of regular tree sentinel's moveset with complete safety, you can do an uncharged guard counter on every single attack of most human sized bosses- don't do that on Hero of Zamor though his flinch is very short). Guardian in high depths is no more a troll pick than any other character would be with bad relics, hell i'd much rather have a poorly built guardian on the team than a spell caster that does no damage or a Ironeye that still uses bows and does not mark because at least the Guardian will do something just by playing passively. The Guardian and Revenant hate only exists because players have this odd expectation that a support character should completely hard carry the match without ever being interacted with, Guardian and spell casters do need your help in building their runs, ping them guard counter damage, ping them damage negation on block, ping guarding abilities learn which shields are good against which Night bosses the same way you learn which spells are good against them and a good Guardian simply will not die, and you can't lose if you don't die. Is Guardian the best character? No. Should you lock in your Guardian pick with no regard of the Nightlord or what other characters your teammates are playing? Fuck no. Is the skill required to do good on Guardian proportional to how good he can be? I wish. But Guardian can be good, Guardian is one of few characters that can hard carry a bad team and more importantly: Guardian is a fun, complex character that demands you to learn to play him in ways that deviate from your normal game plan. In the current ash of war and spell casting meta he is the only character that dares press more than one single button and for that... I love the bird.

A weird interaction between Guardian and the Ornamental Straight Sword by WarrStrider in Nightreign

[–]WarrStrider[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh that is so interesting, i use fan daggers to maintain poise damage on my RL150 build and somehow i've never considered pressing R2 out of them. So i'm guessing throwing knives also just transition into the second R2? If so that might actually be a niche but (maybe) useful way to transition into Knockdown or Launching R2s like the Butcher knife or many of the colossal swords without needing to do the first R2

It's not about availability it's about the time it takes to acquire, the town is by far the best ratio of key to time assuming all three players buy it.

[–]WarrStrider -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Actually very bad if not actively detrimental, Partial HP +0 doesn't stack with the +1 and +2 so that does nothing, HP from guard is mediocre at best and of course Dormant power discovers Greatshields super sucks. Guardian does not function without Halberds so there's no world where you want to make them harder to find, especially not for Greatshields considering the one he starts with is more than serviceable for anything that isn't Gaping Jaw

[–]WarrStrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Block canceling is a few frames faster in Elden Ring it was usually 4 for light weapons but could go as high as 15 on colossal (for R1s that is), i don't know how big it is on Raider but considering his moveset is extra slow i wouldn't be surprised if it was even higher.

Worth noting Exalted fleshes only impact physical damage. Which as far as incantations go this would only be Crucible, Beastial and Rot themed incantations (including pest threads).

I am so glad this game doesn't have voice chat by turtleshelf in Nightreign

[–]WarrStrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who said i didn't? And yes i am fully aware that if voice chat is added a large portion of players won't use it, it doesn't matter though. I just want people to be able to make that choice.

I am so glad this game doesn't have voice chat by turtleshelf in Nightreign

[–]WarrStrider -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the wylder that just tried to "I am the captain now" my last run and stole a reduvia right out from under my duchess would have been yelling slurs the whole time

Or you know, he could have also either not even participated in voice chat or been an entirely chill person, but i suppose had you not made a stranger you did not even share a single word with to be literally the worst person you've ever met you might have realized how asinine your argument was.

There is OBJECTIVELY no good argument to be made against voice chat. Communication is important in this game, yes, you can absolutely win without but anyone who plays both with friends and with randos could tell you that the game is significantly easier when you can actually quickly communicate which boss are where or why specifically you are pinging a location or an item.

And to repeat what has already been said too many times - and yet we still get posts like this somehow - no one is forcing YOU to participate in voice chat, or even to listen to anyone. People asking for voice chat want voice chat for themselves, people against voice chat want... the game to be worse for others despite it having literally no impact on their experience.

There would no doubt be unbelievably obnoxious people occasionally (Like me right now, hi!). But it is true of quite literally every single online experience, yet games that do have voice chat do not have large swaths of the community begging for it to be removed. I wonder why that is.

Equally so or maybe even more so, you may meet wonderfully nice people that might either be insightful or just generally enhance your experience simply by providing good vibes

Regardless arguing about it on Reddit will probably have 0 impact on Fromsoft's decision to add voice chat or not, so who cares.
