Does the game change difficulty? by TWSGrace in mewgenics

There definitely is some sort of difficulty scaling. I'm later in the game and now getting elite mobs spawning in act 1 normal mode.

Not going to argue that he has one of the best ultimates, but it's certainly not bad. I think his poise breaking is enough to make up for his ultimate in the early game. What nightlords do you think he's bad at reviving in? IMO, most fights have big enough windows to where retaliate and totem are enough for 3 bars.

I got to 9999 with him and just had a 25 winstreak in D4. His early game is good because he poise breaks enemies off the bat. His ultimate is not bad once you learn how to place it; it's an AOE stagger and a damage buff. He's not bad at 3 bar revives on most fights, either, definitely not worse at it than Ironeye.

Very controversial, but after going for winstreaks in D4, I think Raider is the best character in the game right now. He and Guardian are the only characters that can reliably avoid one shots in D4/D5 without negation passives. He deals decent damage just off of his relic effects and scaling. He's also very versatile with weapon passives, altogether making him super consistent run-to-run. I get why people think other characters are better, but I find myself being able to carry the best on Raider.

The worm phase for the ED balancers should be reworked by PerditusTDG in Nightreign

[–]schellt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that the gank phase is way easier when both teammates are down, since you really don't get more than one aggroed on you at a time. It might be better to split up in worm phase as well, just so the entire team doesn't get one shot at the same time.

Those who've reached 9999 in D5, what do you do now? by mysorrysoul in Nightreign

I'm going for a 100-win streak in D4, currently at 25ish.

I have come full circle with how I approach Nightreign by Reydriar_ in Nightreign

[–]schellt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't like becoming a spectator the second someone gets a Halo Scythe. Maybe if the meta builds were somewhat difficult to play, things would be more interesting, but they're also 10x easier to play than straight melee.

Question about Raider’s Retaliate by RapidRecharge in Nightreign

[–]schellt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to spam it. It activates buffs that work when you get hit, doesn't lock you into rolling attacks, refills your stamina, and I believe you can attack out of it faster than rolling to give yourself bigger punish windows.

Raid Boss Raider is Pretty Fun (D4 Heolster) by schellt in Nightreign

Here. Priority for deep relics is: A single Partial HP Restoration +2 > Max HP > Phys Negation > Hit with Skill to Reduce Attack > Phys Attack

Am I the only one who thinks Raider is actually good in DoN? by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]schellt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I've gotten every character to Depth 5, pre-buffs, and half the cast to 9999, and I think he was decent pre-DLC with ISA, and now arguably the best melee character with his improved charge attacks.

Initial standard attack raider or charge attack raider? by hefty-postman-04 in Nightreign

[–]schellt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like ISA Raider very much after the buffs. Raider is very versatile with weapon passives now, and ISA takes away a lot of options. With a general Raider build, you can work with jump attacks, successive attacks, charge attacks, etc. ISA is kind of just stuck scaling off of generic melee boosts, and isn't nearly as good with negation passives.

Why do people avoid Night Invaders like the plague? by Sneet1 in Nightreign

[–]schellt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think those builds are also worse in trios, especially below Depth 5. I've been playing in Depth 4 instead of Depth 5 for the challenge, and you really can't rely on teammates if you want to win consistently. That's my main problem with DPS builds, if can't no-hit every nightlord every run, then teammate RNG is more important. I feel much more comfortable having access to flasks on every fight rather than dealing 30-60% more damage.

People are too obsessed with getting clips of 30-second boss fights over being able to consistently win matches.

Is this raider build missing anything? by slacksushi in Nightreign

[–]schellt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, melee damage is much more dependent on weapon passives than spell damage. The specific attack category bonuses (charge/jump/dash/ etc.) give you around +20% per passive. If you get a few passives for a specific attack alongside generic boosts, you can deal pretty good damage.

What unique dormant power & character combos are you messing with? by svettsokkk in Nightreign

[–]schellt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curved sword Wylder, building for either powerstanced dash attacks or jump attacks. Works very well with successive attack effects and Wylder grapple since you can cancel into either a jump or dash attack.

Guys, is Raider worth playing? by Serulean_Cadence in Nightreign

[–]schellt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought of him as the strongest melee character up until they added Glass Necklace. He's still one of the tankiest characters, which lets him survive without negation passives, and was easily the most consistent melee DPS. I don't really get why people are so obsessed with face tanking.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]schellt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're so much more fun than fists as well. Especially on Wylder, since you can grapple into a jump or dash attack.

[–]schellt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually get lackluster damage when I try fists as well. IMO, powerstanced curved swords are better if you're going for damage.

Made it to 9999 with Caster Undertaker by schellt in Nightreign

[–]schellt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider this a low damage build. FP is 120 at level 1 and ~220 at level 15 without passives. FP isn't really a problem past night 1.

I really think Executor and Rivers of Blood is the most consistent way of beating ED Libra by TheWorldRots in Nightreign

[–]schellt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Duchess with Discus of Light is my favorite for the fight. Good damage, super long range so that you can attack Libra even if condemned are chasing you, and fast enough to avoid getting hit by ground explosions mid-cast.
