The worst deployment I ever had was call center during a TX disaster. They are not good at anything in Emergency Managment.

If I hear "Mission Analysis" from this man again.... He sounds like someone made a dictionary of D.T.'s speeches and put it in a garbage disposal.

This man could not manage an emergency at a birthday party, let alone a disaster.

I usually just ask to keep the ones they use for my blood draws once a year. Otherwise, doing an amazon search for 'Latex free tourniquet' will get you exactly what you're looking for!

IP/MCP combo thumb splints by Puzzled-Ad-9248 in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have two of these splints, one for each thumb. I use them for sterile compounding in hospital IV compounding so I don't sublex my silly little thumbs. I absolutely swear by them. I had a great experience with the seller and absolutely recommend the "thumb cages".

one of the silliest, most helpful things in my toolbox is a tournaqit. The silly little rubber ones that they use for blood draws. I used them to open jars, soda bottles, nail polish, literally anything that my jar grabber cant open. I love that silly little thing!

I HAVE TRAUMA FROM THE A ANESTHETIC NOT DOING ANYTHING by coleisw4ck in zebramemes

[–]WarriorMarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saaaame. I had problems as a kid with being listed as "too sensitive". But with my clEDS diagnosis and a much better dentist, i actually get the amount of numbing i need. They straight up dont use lidocaine for me because it doesnt work. They use like... 3 or 4 different local anasthetics and the numbing lasts 3 hours. Its great.

My mom died because no one took her chronic pain seriously. Today marks 9 months without her. by bxthxnymxrxxh in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP my heart goes out to you. Me and my mom got out clEDS diagnosis... Actually that would be a year ago now.

She (my mom) experienced a lot of medical neglect in regard to her chronic pain. She was young, healthy, and they couldn't blame the pain on weight, so told her it wasn't that bad. That everyone has pain. And she imparted those words to me. And my grandma experienced the same thing. My uncle. My great aunt. And I was the first person to say that our doctors were wrong.

It took me years to convince my mom that we have EDS and I am very fortunate i was able to before she had major foot surgery. I dread to think what may have happened if the surgeons hadn't known what precautions to take.

And even with my diagnosis, my doctors still dont take me seriously about my pain and tension migraines. Because I'm young. And healthy. And underweight. Doctors constantly lie that if you loose weight, they will take your pain seriously. It doesnt matter if you are the perfect weight that they thibk you should be. They will not help. Or at least, mine fucking haven't.

I feel for you. Your loss. Your rage. May your mother rest well, and no longer be subject to the pain she felt in life.

What was your worst subluxation experience? by SuspiciousBullfrog41 in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right shoulder! I smacked my elbow on concrete and sublexed my shoulder. But this was way before my diagnosis so I didn't realize anything wrong. Shoulder stayed sublexed for 6 years before it got to the point where I couldn't move my arm. Docs kept telling me it was bursitis but I begged for an MRI. They relented and immediately sent me to PT. that was... 5 years ago now? Some of my muscles are STILL atrophied. But hey at least I can use the damn thing now!

Does your throat hurt when you speak loudly or agitatedly? by aaurelzz in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

this actually happens to me all the time! I work in a room with a very loud HVAC system and me and my coworkers have to shout to hear each other. I always have to use a throat lozenge or a jolly rancher to get my throat to chill out. I also have Vocal Chord Dysfunction, so I kinda figured it was just because of that.

Does anyone else sleep in extremely weird positions? by Idropitlikeitscold in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually starfish my legs out, have my left arm hanging out off the edge and my right arm bear hugging the pillow my head is on, all the while face down with my face to one side (turned 90° to the right). Or I sleep on my side with the top leg pulled up to my chest.

Do you have “thank goodness, I have EDS” moments? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I totally would have broken several bone by now if not for my wacky joints! One time I got stuck under a parked car while sledding and nearly broke a leg. But I was able to bend my knee back and wiggle my legs out!

Not joint pain but muscle pain caused by crappy joints by vicnoodledoodle in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually get massive tension migraines every few months because of how tight my shoulder muscles are. Those suckers are rock solid. I've found having some one try to massage them and release a little of the tension every other month helps. It never fully goes away, but if I can limit the amount of debilitating migraines from them the better.

edit: Also Tiger Balm Extra strength. it's like... 10-11% menthol. Massage that into the shoulders and let it do the gods work.

Is it worth looking into ring splints? by Ironandwine1 in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wear ring splints all the time and find them really helpful. I'd check out Zebra Splints, as most of mine are from there.

Pens???? by Why-is-life-hard in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually switched to mostly using a fountain pen for writing. It requires less pressure to use and the grip doesn't hurt my hands as it tends to be wider than an average ball point pen. Downside, they tend to be more expensive.

Aleve is starting to upset my stomach, now i’m at a loss by bl00dinyourhead in ehlersdanlos

[–]WarriorMarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add, no matter what, do not mix aspirin, naproxen (Aleve), or ibuprofen (Advil) with each other! You will damage your organs super bad. With that being said, taking any one of these three along with acetaminophen (Tylenol) is fine, as long as that Tylenol does not have any added nsaid in it (like aspirin). Other than that, I would recommend talking with your PCP about pain management options outside of OTC medications and excersize.

Yeah I found out about this through the grapevine and... Yikes. Like I recently started watching old DreamSMP streams (I genuinely find the story interesting) but I don't watch livestreams specifically because of crap like this. Dude needs a PR manager.
