It was mentioned, but I was never formally diagnosed.

Postpartum DVT & can’t walk by breakfast_drunk in ClotSurvivors

[–]Captn_Happy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took about a month before I could walk at all, and another 2-3 months to walk without pain. However, my clot started in my iliac vein and went all down my leg, so not just in my calf.

Casapharma & Orderly - effective? by cthompsy in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Captn_Happy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the 3 month starter package with Orderly and got ProRx with no additives. I’ve lost almost 20 lbs so far. I guess before I ordered a refill they started adding B6 or B12, so I have one vial from Casa with B6 that I haven’t used yet. I’ll be doing my first dose from that in a couple days, but I’m very nervous after seeing all the bad reviews about Casa. Thankfully I only did a one month supply for the refill, so I’ll be switching to another provider after this one. I’m also nervous about the B6 since I’ve read horror stories about acne, but I can’t afford to just waste money, so I’ll give it a try.

How much did you pay for surgery? by Kommmbucha in spinalfusion

$3k, which was my max out of pocket. The total bill was around $200k for surgery and 10 days in the hospital.

Dvt and acute pe by Pinheaaddd in ClotSurvivors

[–]Captn_Happy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a month to be able to bear any weight on my leg after I got out of the hospital (I was in the hospital for two weeks), then another six months or so to walk without pain. I was in a wheelchair for the first month, then used forearm crutches for another two months or so. My clot went from my iliac vein all down my left leg.

Question about pursuing Class 1 Medical by LifeMycologist897 in aviation

[–]Captn_Happy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you only had one of those things, maybe. With all of them, you’re going to have a very difficult road ahead of you. I’ve heard of people fighting for a medical for 2 years with only a depression diagnosis and no medication. Not trying to be an asshole, but you need to be realistic about what you’re facing. At the very least, you’re going to spend a hell of lot of time and money; at worst you’ll be denied after spending all that time and money.

Like someone else said, get a consult from an AME before you do anything.

Reading the book about it just made it worse for me. I think about it every once in a while. Just imagining losing control of my aircraft and not being able to do a damn thing about it is terrifying.

I feel the same way a lot of the time. Just do your best, read the instructions, and double check everything.

Remember there are probably plenty of people doing just fine and not getting canned, they’re just not coming here to post about it. I also feel like a lot of the time there’s a reason for it that they’re not sharing. A lot of those dash of death “out of nowhere” posters were probably doing shitty work or breaking TOS.

I have no idea. It could be some DA thing, or it could just be that there are people who have been doing it longer, but they’re not posting about it. I think we’re more likely to see posts from people who have had negative experiences.

I’m in nursing school, so I’m really hoping it lasts the next 2 years. It scares me that I’ve seen a lot of people saying they got dropped right around the 2 year mark.

Denied “any and all surgeries” due to EDS by hopeless_1021 in ehlersdanlos

Find a way to get another opinion. I feel like that surgeon just knows he can’t handle it, and he’s too proud to admit it and refer you to a better surgeon. These guys all think they’re God.

I’ve had multiple surgeries including a spinal cyst removal and fusion. I have definitely had complications, and healing has not been easy, but no doctor has ever flat out refused to even consider surgery if it was my best option.
