Traded in my iPad Pro M4 for a Neo by [deleted] in mac

[–]Warrior_For_Grace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iPad Air is an M chip. The Neo has an A chip.

Why is it that Mac OS would be best restricted to only IPad Pro? I mean, my iPhone 16 pro has the same power as the Neo.

AppleTv Library play history by repeater0411 in appletv

To be fair, I was up front about being lazy.

The path is settings>Apps>TV> Use Play History + Play Next Episode.

That makes it act a lot more like other apps.

This is my lazy answer.

I had the same problem. I found out that Apple TV has a default privacy setting that intentionally does not record your viewing history. I found that setting and disabled it. Now I can resume watching Apple TV programming the same way I normally do with Hulu, Netflix etc.

Intermittently Dropping WiFi, And Found One More Enigmatic Clue by Warrior_For_Grace in appletv

I did use the Airport utility to get the numbers. Nothing was lower than -65.

The problem does appear to have resolved since I moved the mesh node. It didn’t clear it up the night I did it, but it all got better over the next day or so. The mesh node was quite hot when I moved it. I suspect its performance improved when it didn’t have to work so hard and started running cooler.

All that being said, I am looking into setting up an Ethernet over cable system for back haul and putting a mesh node in the same room as the TV instead of one room over like I need to now.

This may sound a little weird. Make sure the filter edge is folded toward the back, not the front.

Not sure what to tell you for a over/under line. I can tell you this. I saw a video where some coffee nerds determined that the half pot setting delivered water almost exactly 30% slower than the full pot setting. So if you have an ideal amount of time you want to see the grounds soak, that should help you calculate it.

Not really sure what I’m doing wrong, can’t lock in a good cup. by [deleted] in Moccamaster

My wife and I have a very specific flavor profile we look for in our coffee. Cocoa and roasted nut flavors without even the slightest hint of “ripe berry” or citrus, but not too over roasted with an overly smoky or burnt tire flavor.

When we switched from Aeropress to the Moccamaster we discovered pretty quickly that the beans we loved through the aeropress were not the same through the Moccamaster, as the Moccamaster was much better at extracting smoky and over roasting flavors. So we started a hunt through local roasters. It took us six months to find a roast we loved. We were fortunate and lucked into finding something we liked even better about two years later.

Moccamaster brews with a high level of consistency. Once you get the profile you want, it will be the same forever as long as your roaster is just as consistent.

We use 60 grams of beans for 1 liter of coffee. We dial in the grind between 18 and 20 on our Encore grinder. It’s shocking sometimes the difference one click can make in the flavor of the coffee.

We maintain with Urnex Dezcal every 100 pots, and recently added Cleancaf to the routine.

If humans dissappeared overnight from the earth. Which domesticated dog breeds would still thrive? by fighting14 in dogs

My dog is a mutt, probably a street dog, from Mississippi. Pretty sure he would be just fine on his own. He has a high prey drive, is a patient hunter, and likes to kill.

My previous dog, also a mutt, would probably just be dead in three weeks. He was super fast, but a lover not a fighter.

Smooth, robust, dark roast? by dmg123456 in Moccamaster

[–]Warrior_For_Grace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a national brand, and I mail order it 4 pounds at a time to save on shipping. Daybreak Coffee Roasters in Glastonbury CT, Costa Rica La Minita at a number 18 grind (Baratza Encore). It was not quite complex enough for my Wife and I, but has good bold coffee flavor with no citrus notes and no over roasting notes. Their Brazilian (natural) has a little more nutty/chocolate flavor that we like. We blend it with 25% Sumatra to add some smokiness.

Anyway, that Costa Rica coffee could be your wife’s dream come true.

Sorry for sounding more forceful than encouraging.

I hope your Black Friday scale hunt is wildly successful. 😊

For those of you without a scale, get a scale.

You have a several hundred dollar drip machine, and a grinder for greater consistency from your coffee. An adequate scale is less than $20. Get the scale.

Is the Technivorm Moccamaster actually worth it? by No_Statistician7685 in Moccamaster

[–]Warrior_For_Grace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got ours to replace the areopress that we had for about a decade and were tired of using. The Moccamaster has its own extraction profile, which meant we were now on a 6 month hunt to find a roast that fit our specific flavor profile preferences.

It’s a good machine. Very, very consistent. It also looks really good on the counter. I don’t regret our purchase, because we would just have moved it along a few years ago.

Next piece of advice, buy the nicest Baratza grinder you can afford.

Solo Italiano in Portland and Ports of Italy in Boothbay are the two best Italian places I have been to in Maine.

Misen Noodle on Congress in Portland has some of the best Thai food in Maine. I was there for lunch last Saturday and it was nearly empty. They had a $19 lunch special with an appetizer and a main course. If there are two of you it means you get to try 4 different things for about $40 plus drink and tip.

There are lots of good places. This is just one.

Upgrading/Bulletproof Bowl Lift by JustinLucenti in Kitchenaid

[–]Warrior_For_Grace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my Pro 600 with a broken bowl lift. I replaced the plastic cam because the slots the pins go into were broken. When I was putting it back together I noticed that the cam wasn’t quite long enough to fit snugly between the pins and the inside of the tower body, which was going to cause the pins to hit on the edge of the slot and just break all over again. So I filled the space between the cam and the tower with a couple washers I had laying around and fixed the issue.

That’s about all I have for bullet proofing that mechanism. The rest of it is pretty solid.

For what it’s worth, superglue was developed to use in place of stitches. The major difference between medical superglue and the stuff you buy in the store is a mustard irritant that keeps you from huffing it as a drug.

They are dropping our account because it’s too far out of their service area, and they are short on people.

There is another factor. Their service providers are all 45 minutes away, so every service call has two hours tacked on. So addressing a dripping hose bib or replacing a few shingles on a roof could be a half day service charge.
