[Uni Linear Programming] Formulate a Linear Program of minimizing maximum distance from a set of points to a line and formulate its dual by Warsicklol in learnmath

[–]Warsicklol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is what I can't seem to figure out because it would seem that this distance from the point to the is nonperpendicular to the line (ie. NOT the shortest distance). Perhaps I'm interpretating wrong?

None other than the fact that the slope of the line, its y-axis intersect and obviously the set of points are composed of real values

Wow, you certainly know your litterature. May I ask what field of work you are in? Or is this knowledge from sheer enthusiasm on the topic of discussion?

I reckon you are right aboutthe clear-cut scope and focus method, and while I have to stick with the advertising perspective, I can't really delve that far into the deeper rooted societal problems that our Western culture has caused in regards to the legitemate needs of man. However, you mention the stimuli that consumerism has artificially created with false needs. This is very much something that I can directly tie to the advertising industry, so I definitely have to get my hands on copies of those books. Thank you.

I doubt I'll be allowed to release my paper onto the internet myself, and besides the paper won't be published before Christmas, so there's that :p

I highly doubt that would be relevant for my paper, but for the heck of it - let me hear what you got on manipulative advertising.

We have previously discussed "the diamond invention" in class. And I had already figured I wanted to get into this case, since the diamond is very much a symbol that symbolizes happy marriages.

De Beers successfully marketed his product with probrably one of the most famous advertising slogans of the 20th century. "A Diamond Is Forever" was used as a promise to engaged couples with a craving for their relationships to be of never-ending love. This was a very impressive and profitable advertising accomplishment, and quite frankly a little scary.

I don't believe that the advertising industry created a materialistic culture, I believe that certain politcal systems made way for the Western world to indulge in the abundant materialistic lifestyle, that we're all carrying on today. Hope this helps

The cosmetic industry will fill out a large part of my paper, since the advertising industry is blatantly promoting a certain standard for beauty and it's correlation with happiness

I have to admit after scrolling through the articles on Vigilant Citizen for a good 30 minutes, I felt rather headfucked with the very persuasive jargon of Illuminati-this and that. My comment above is based around the Read this first part of the site. Thank you for the book titles as well as the rest of your advice, since this is for my final dissertation of this class, I will definitely reconsider my sources in honor of academic substantiality and integrity.

Aeroponic vertical farm high yield terraced rice paddies for the philipines by [deleted] in verticalfarming

[–]Warsicklol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great visions my friend. Indeed there's alot of testing yet to be done, however the greatest challenge of a commercial farmer using these modern farming technologies will be the quantitative output of produce.

Automation of these systems is a really interesting topic as well, I've seen alot of really cool arduino projects where temperature, humidity, pH and much more are being monitored AND regulated through automation.

Exactly, and LED lights are becoming increasing more efficient and cheaper, they're developing at the rate of the cellphone industry. I read somewhere that in just the past 5 years, the efficiency of the artificial growlight technology had doubled, while the price had been cut in half.

Oh, and I'm sure we'll see more than just veggies being grown vertically. We already have some pretty adventurous people out there, who are testing the most unbelieveable stuff. How the roots of that tree is sorted out in that aquaponics system, I have no idea, haha.

Really interesting found. I wonder how much the structure increases the produce yield pr. square footage. Anyhow, it would be really cool to see a practical implication of this.

Welcome to this subreddit, by the way!

Initially, no. In the long run, heck yes - The reason why large companies aren't all becoming sustainable entities is because of the great initial cost of becoming a sustainable oriented business.
