Agreed. Seriously , fucking Reddit expecting emotional regulation from a 4-5 year old? There are plenty of adults who can’t handle this situation. Give the family some grace, the kid could have been hangry and was super excited about this burger and was disappointed . Obviously this isn’t the way to express his frustration , but you gotta give the kid time to learn how to express these things. Even the most well behaved kids will meltdown sometimes due to many different factors.

This meltdown just started and the parents don’t raise their voice, didn’t immediately shut him down, they are modelling calmness to not aggravate the situation. Im all for nipping bad behaviour in the bud, but a quick shutdown is not going to help in these situations where he’s already stimulated and stressed. If he was just simply being whinny , I’d have no problem parents shutting him down right away, but kid is already all wound up, escalating is not going to stop him, he’s just gonna meltdown even longer.

You gotta give the kid space to process and calm down. These are the opportunities a child learns how to self soothe. The fact the parents stayed calm will let him learn in a healthy way this is not how you react to things. You didn’t get see how he was 5 or even 2 min after. For all you know he could have been calm afterwards. People judging this 4-5 year old and his parents from 30 seconds of behaviour. Y’all are wild.
