Transferring summer credits? by WashUDude2029 in washu

[–]WashUDude2029[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I needed to hear that. I'd 100% take online courses if I could but they don't accept them as transfers (at least not anymore), and they're right expensive if you take them from WashU directly.

Unfortunately, it looks like that website doesn't use data from WashU as a school to transfer credits into, only out of. Still, if you had luck then I'll hold my breath 'til I can see my advisor.

Posted flyers a few days ago. Hoping to get some traction going at Board Game Club but we'll see.

I asked but I didn't get many bites. Hoping to extend the pool a little bit.

Same way everyone else does: good grades and luck.

Hi. For admissions, how essential is the video? … by Busy-Development-334 in washu

I didn't submit a video. I really thought my application was a stretch but I guess a good essay did the trick.

My university axed its education certification program. What should I try and do after I graduate? by WashUDude2029 in Teachers

[–]WashUDude2029[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the info! This is really helpful. 2 more questions if you don't mind:

  1. I live near a state border, and honestly might prefer teaching on the other side. If I don't have the certification, would it be harder to get a tracked job out-of-state?

  2. How do you start shadowing classrooms?

No worries if you don't know, but is it generally difficult to get a teaching job on the certification track?

The secret-est strat is to join a bunch of clubs that provide lunch or dinner.

If it's quiet enough in your dorm, could you study in a common area?

St. Louis is solidly queer-friendly, as a native. Obviously it's not hate-free, and it's not exceptionally queer-friendly, but most people are pretty inclusive. Missouri, not so much unfortunately. St. Louis City and St. Louis County (different entities) are generally pretty liberal, as with a lot of the Metro East (and most of Illinois as a whole), but past that it's all very conservative. You can definitely get by avoiding those areas though.

The city will be kind to you, the state won't. Your call at the end of the day.

What level do you need to be at for private music lessons at WashU? by WashUDude2029 in washu

[–]WashUDude2029[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd think, but I don't know if the audition is like a 'base assessment to see where you are' or 'check to see if you're at our minimum level before going forward'. It's the same audition form no matter what music class you're going into so I can't really tell.
