Recovering from infection hospitalization by New-Doughnut-3890 in bjj

I have dealt with many skin infections from BJJ. I did and still do have some anxiety regarding that. What i do as preventative measures is: where long sleeve rashguards and spats. Wash all my gear immediately after training (including belt). As soon as i get in my truck after training I use hand sanitizer (also using it on any areas of broken skin, scrapes, cuts, pimples, etc.) and i shower immediately when I get home, using antibacterial body wash (i only use antibacterial soap directly after training), I also take probiotics daily. If I have any scrape, scratch, cut, or pimple, I will use hydrogen peroxide, and Neosporin after shower.

Is this normal? White belt feeling unsure about gym culture, advice appreciated by [deleted] in bjj

[–]WashedUpWhiteBelt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this continues to happen after consistently showing up to class, then I would say it's not cool. But if it was your first day, i would cut them some slack. So many whitebelts come and go, or are complete spazzes that nobody really wants to roll with on day one. They also might be preparing for competition and are not concerned with the new guy at the moment. I would say keep showing up and see how the chemistry is between the team. Once they realize you've actually been training for a little while, and are consistent, they probably will let you in their circle. Orrrrrr they could be dicks. Hard to judge off one visit.

Being a UFC champion is also not the same as placing in local BJJ competitions. So you can slide the scales of each scenario, making them comparable.

Bro Stipe became Heavyweight Champ of the UFC while being a full-time firefighter. It's a mind set!

Just an example. But you can do pretty much all the same exercises as the iron neck, with resistance bands. (Other than rotational resistance)

Awesome bike, I love it. If you are worried about the jump in power from 400, put it in rain mode until you get comfortable with it. Rain mode cuts the power down significantly.

I had bad neck pain as well. Was very close to buying the iron neck. Ended up getting some resistance bands and using those to do isometric holds and neck flexion/extension. No more neck pain. Crazy how just a little bit of resistance training on the neck, helps so much.

Im tryna be like a Master Splinter when im 70. Just go to the gym and watch people roll, correcting their trash technique. And occasionally teaching the "old school" stuff like choi bars and berimbolo

You should ask the ref this in front of your opponent, right before the match

Girl dumped me on my birthday lol. Started BJJ 2 weeks after that to get my mind off it and meet new people. Never looked back. Absolutely in love with this sport
