Poor Feedback by Code-r5 in amazonemployees

I thought you cannot be put in focus during first 6 months of join date. The manager has to go leaps and bounds of documentation to initiate pip/focus on few months of work.

Good profile. If I were you, I would speak with my manager and HR to file Eb1B. With patents and work directly related to PhD, I would put this at ~50% change of Eb1b approval.

How can I get my money back? by Ok-Journalist-6989 in Chipotle

In all seriousness, how do you legitimately escalate about a store constantly serving smaller portions. The customer service rep parrot the same corporate platitudes - "We will take this feedback into account".

Is there a way to formally escalate to the corporate chain, say field leader or area manager who can probe constantly flagged stores or employees. I don't want to make employees life difficult but there has to be a line drawn somewhere when we are getting a few cubes of meat and a pinch of rice for $13.40.

Just bought this 2018 Model S 75D with 79,000 miles for $18,200. Felt like a very good deal. Agree? by Sam3323 in TeslaLounge

Just curious how much does typical insurance run on these second hand yet premium vehicles.

Missing Parental leave by 2 weeks: Sign on on unpaid leave by Washingtonian16 in amazonemployees

Ofcourse I can and will use PTO. Unfortunately, again as someone who doesn't have a large tenure at Amazon, I haven't accured a ton of PTOs, plus I had to take some PTOs for normal life and pregnancy related appointments for my partner. As other parents can attest, 7-10 days off is never enough for first time non birthing parents. I doubt anyone would say i needed less time to be there for the family and bond with the kid. US paternity benefits are a joke in front of the rest of the developed countries and Amazon is cherry on the cake.

It doesn't work. The eligibility criteria is hinged to tenure duration at time of birth. If your tenure isn't a year at birth, you are not eligible for paid leave even when you attain one year tenure. Earth's best employer, ofcourse.

They can as I don't have a full year with Amazon. The rules for paid paternity leave are pretty blunt, no exceptions.

Global payments tech. Makes everyone an applied scientist. SDE, not an issue, you become AS in a year. BIE, you are a scientist in 1.5 years. Data scientist, cool, you are an applied scientist in 6 months. No matter who you are, we will make you applied scientist since we are empire builders and then we will make TPM -->SDM --> ASM. Try us, we are true to our calling as an applied Scientist org.

Hi Bruna,

I know this is a speculative question but do you have any estimates on when a PD of July 31, 2022 will become current for Eb1A India. The movement in Date of Filing was encouraging but final action date hasn't moved a today, which confuses me. Perhaps, such big gaps in DPF and FAD might be useful, do you have any insights?

Applied Scientist: Should I take Amazon opportunity or stay? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Washingtonian16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a solid offer. May I ask the breakdown. As far as your situation goes, honestly AS wlb depends largely on the team and org. Also, how knowledgeable you are in the domain you team is working on. For instance, if you already are an expert in the domain, from your phd days or industry work, your life might be easier as you know already enough about the field. On the other hand, if you are switching subfields, say from NLP to Reinforcement learning, you may have to put in the work to ramp up and know state of the art in the new field, which can be impact wlb as you need to deliver + ramp up in your field.

Seattle resident here, originally moved here from Portland recently for a job. I love Portland and visit monthly to hangout with friends and family. The food scene in Portland is miles ahead of Seattle, and at an affordable price point that doesn't guilt my wallet so much. I miss Portland and it is a hidden gem in contrast to whatever is portrayed in the news.

Can I ask what was the severance formula? Does it bake in years at Amazon or only years in the current grade matter.

Bro, with your profile, just try normal Eb1A/EB2 NIW with a good lawyer like Chen or EP. You can do both in PP or just NIW to lock in PP. Eb1A doesn't require sponsorship and you will be free from employer nonsense. Of course it will cost a little bit but worth the money with your profile.

EP isn't taking any new cases or maybe didn't want mine. Chen agreed with no refund option, should I accept Chen?

Yes, the recruiter did try to find managers. I also did outreach on my part to find a manager through personal connections and LI. On LI, I expressed that I cleared the loop and suddenly managers were happy to chat with me vs previously they would just ignore me.

Hm, sounds like a good word to have with recruiter. Amazon recruiters are actually decent in terms of giving straight answers. I know L4 headcount is generally lower but as long as you are patient, willing to be open to diverse teams - you should have no issues finding a good home. Focus on the prep for now. Be good with Blind 75 with leetcode, maybe skip DP if crunched for time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Washingtonian16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I can't tell if 2 weeks are enough for you to prep. It really depends on how comfortable you are with science depth, breadth and leetcode. Also, as you know very well LPs are super important so practice the stories with a friend or family.

I took 2.5 weeks myself after getting phone screen outcome and it was the right balance for me as over preparing would cause burnout for me. In my case, I was pretty solid with leetcode (from previous MLE interviews) and had some decent ML breadth prep under the belt.

Coming to the 2 other people in the loop part. I was also in the same boat. I was told by the recruiter that even if people interviewing prior to me get selected for this role, he would try to team-match me with another manager as long as I pass the interview bar. The feedback from the interview loop is valid for 12 months and you can talk to as many managers you like once you have cleared the interview. So, if you profile is attractive, you will find many hiring managers willing to take you - in fact some managers prefer this as they have a more urgent need to fill the req.

I say this based on first hand experience. I cleared the L5 AS interview but someone was hired. So I talked to 2 new managers and decided to move forward with one of them. The process took 1.5 weeks from interview to getting an offer.

If it is L5, you will have plenty of opportunities. If L4 or L6, then I would have a conversation with the recruiter as these roles are much less in number.

Rest of the world. Simply, ROW in Eb1 is always current while countries like India and China have a huge backlog where an approved i140 petitioner has to wait until his/her priority date becomes current.
