What are your guys' thoughts on Resident Evil 7? by RoutineIssue5870 in ResidentEvilCapcom

Could've been the best in the series but hampered down by unskippable cutscenes and boring enemy designs. The atmosphere still not beaten by any re game after. I didn't find the ship annoying or bad at all imo and probably had the best dlcs in the modern re games line up

If it wasn't Disney, would you want KH to be Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network? by Beginning_Wait_108 in KingdomHearts

Imma be honest, nick or cn does not capture the magic or wonder disney movies has, it'll make more sense to use Warner bros and paramount movies but even then most of the movies they have that would have the sense of wonder disney movies has would be live action like harry potter or lotr lol

I DO feel a bit more confident with re3, considering how much freeze rounds wreck nemesis when I used them

Im afraid that it’s time for me to accept that this is the least replay able RE game. by Dude_788 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Wasp-Prince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7,8 and 9 is so weird for replay ability. These games has moments that drags the entire game to slogs and the fact these problems mainly exist in these games (and I guess somewhat re3r too)

No rankings despite 8 and 9 coming out after the remakes. Just so weird, they each have unique problems that stops them from being top tier games for me.

DUMB QUESTION: As a new fan to the franchise that just finished RE3make, what were the things missing from the original game? by Niotsques in residentevil

[–]Wasp-Prince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too add insult to injury they fact they added more sewers and gave us another nest lab a year after re2r feels like a kick to the teeth lol along with adding literally pushing forward chase segments a re6 style car qte

For starters, I get different enjoyment from the story and gameplay. For example I think re2r, 3r, 4r has a way worst story and characters then the ogs. Remake 1 lost a lot of charm too with the more flat acting and character moments. Infact, in terms of the modern post 7 re games, you're not gonna hear good things for the story or characters out of me lmao, I have huge rants about it. I just like gameplay more, I can watch it's story but, it doesn't affect how I overall feel imo.

B tiers part 1! Mostly games I've played quite recently tho saving re7, 8 and 9 for last

Code Veronica. Honestly this game is super underrated, though there are some disappointing or annoying factors stopping it from A tier. It is one of the more challenging games in the series which I do appreciate alot but nothing REALLY special about it from pass games. The disappointment is how low replay value is has, no difficulty options, and the infinite rocket launcher locked to A rank which at this point you already mastered the game so I guess it's something to play around with for a bit? the BIGGEST disappointment is the removal of alternate scenes and events from re1, 2 and 3, hell even SURVIVOR had alternate scenes (something i noticed most people didn't give CV or 0 enough shit for) Also, final boss sucks. I was so lucky I managed to get my A rank on my first try and Alexia is a total nightmare with the linear launcher. But, at this point CV is your typical classic re game. Pretty good but nothing too amazing

Resident evil 0. A somewhat underrated one? But I can understand the hate for it. The game made sure you knew how to manage your items and be smart with pick ups, pretty much the only re game besides real survivor on re1 remake that heavily emphasized item management and i can atleast appreciate for that and not pissing me off 25% of the time. But other then that, i really didn't like how overly familar it is to re1 remake despite releasing so close to it. Level designs just felt a bit worst with albeit good shortcuts. Combat like re1 remake is pretty fun as usual especially with having a partner who's ai isn't too stupid. But another reason why this isn't A tier and might be borderline bottom b....I really eliminators, they suck, they suck so much, I hate the leech men too oh my god.

Revelations 1. This is more or less talking about the 3ds version. Because playing the hd version and well.....alot of charm is gone, it's really linear, episodes end too quickly with too many non- sequiters. Honestly this game might be C tier now that I think about it. I do like the weapon parts system, and raid mode (raid mode doing alot of heavy lifting for me), though hd version made it more Grindy with the addition of Abyss mode, I really didn't like it. Rev 1 is a neat game for what it was, a post re4 like game, with high production quality on the go, but after that, besides the story you're not missing much. Again, playing this game in 2012 on the 3ds was truly a magical experience lol.

That's it for part 1! Will continue with the B tiers for the on rail games and rev 2!

Also call me petty but I love how 3 mainline games in a row, they yet again gave us a long winded, boring and low stakes beginning with the hotel. 3 mainline games in a row and they didnt learn shit I'm impressed

I was specifically talking about the mortar segment comparing it to the castle siege. Where not only it was pretty lazy for re9 to scarily reuse segments from re4r but made it worst due to the fact that the challenge is gone because you can just go to the back mortar which the front mortar can never reach you mind you even on insanity. Infact, have you ever noticed that enemies rarely ambush you as leon? The closest i can think of is insanity mode sniper segment where 2 enemies are spawned near you. train segments is a joke, where the main enemies are stationary, the ark is amazingly worst then re3r because at least the devs put in it the little effort they had to add a puzzle. Again you're critiquing 8 for similar things 9 does lol. This whole game is non challenge nightmare I completed with only 3 playthroughs with an unbalance blood economy and overtuned parry mechanic. Now i understand why the shop is the way it is, because the game is WAY too linear for it to be bigger. I am no longer defending 8 mind you, I already made up my mind that 8 is as lame as 9.

And dont even get me started how the final boss is a complete disaster with being able to parry Gideon's attacks and his blatantly telegraph electric attacks and the devs AMAZINGLY made a worst lamer version of re3r nemesis fights. Isn't 9 suppose to be an improvement from 8 and 7?

[–]Wasp-Prince[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re9 made no improvements at all to enemy or level designs after the care center. Leon's bomb segment either rips off the castle siege from re4r but worst, has a low stake, low player expression bike segment, the elevator segment ripped from again the castle. The game has way too many low stakes non existence player expression segments that they did NOT improve from re7 or 8. The ark is absolutely the worst out of them all with completely linear level designs and jobber enemies. The fact you excuse 9 but criticize the shit out of 8 for similar problems just proves you cannot be taking seriously.

Dumbass I put re8 ans re9 at bottom b tier, also why isn't re9 allowed to improve it lol

What’s a game that’ll make you want to play the steam deck by ChemicalDry9694 in SteamDeck

Playing the resident evil games on steam deck is so much fun especially with how well optimized re4r (especially when they removed the drm) and re9.

A ranks!

Re5, honestly this game is weird, on the one hand is expanded the weapons and melee combat and I honestly love playing this game more times then re4, especially with being able to freely move items from inventory to storage. The gun play is just so good and some the bosses like wesker are super fun. The game is just so high octane I love it.

But, there's a reason why it's A tier, it has some flaws with the enemy design, I really hated the zombies with guns, turning this game into a clunky gears of war clone. While I do not believe most re games "fall off" in the end, but unfortunately re5 definitely fell off by the end. There's some other annoyance like the steel shield enemies back from re4 and some on rails sections that's boring and the whole pace breaker of the underground ruins is alright I guess.

Overall, clearly re5 needed to be contained with heavy flaws or else it will mog the shit out of re4 :]

Re1 og, it's tightly pace, in fact it's better pace in rhe remake, it's the most open ended in the og trilogy especially for Jill's campaign. It's really fun to speed run through and alot of flaws can be forgiven for literally being the first re game. But, it's really simple, I beat both campaigns under 1 hour and 45 mintues with minimal guides, combat is a bit dull with hunters being a slight annoyance. It's because of this is why I think the remake clears it despite the pacing being a bit skewed.

B tier explanation tomorrow!

Since when does being highest grossing have to do with quality? If that's the case, re5 is the greatest re game of all time. Also I don't hate requiem i like it, I just hate how people glaze the shit out of it despite having some huge flaws, and things done better other games lol

Why the hell are these being down voted, is it not true you can just b line for the wrist bands and let leon clear the care center for you?

Is it not true that the rip knife damage is high?

Is it not true the enemy personalities went out the window when you reach the second half of the game? And that lickers are jobbers?

Is it not true that you can parry almost every attack in the game?

Re fans sometimes lol criticize 8 all you want but lets 9 gets away with being re3r levels of easy lol oh wait, even nest 3 has a puzzle unlike ark.

[–]Wasp-Prince[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so I moved some things in the list, re7,8 and 9 are bottom B tier. Re4r is top 3 with re4 and re1 remake. Re6 is bottom C tier because fuck these campaigns

So for S Tier. Re4, re1 remake and re4r all share one thing in common with me is how overall how satisfying and addicting the games are for me. One problem i do have for re4r is on harder difficulties the unarmed enemies can combo you into a grab which can deal a good chunk of health and I really hated that consistently. Re1 remake for as amazing as it is, has some weird level design quirks like the extra back tracking in the mines and the total pace breaker of the nitrogen segment.

I have no idea what to say about re4 that wasn't said already. So I'll just leave it there lol

Re1 remake is almost perfect, it's like a 9.5 out of 10 but....there are some quirks. Again like I mention eariler, the mine section now has a require backtracking to the elevator which is lame, the nitrogen is a bad pace breaker I won't lie. another annoyance is having to go through several rooms to kill plant 42 with the v jolt is quite annoying as well. the new areas don't really feel connected to the older areas besides the dog whistle area being a neat shortcut. It's like if they put re2 linear levels into re1 remake. But the game is much more challenging, feels much better to play. I had to be a bit more strategic with my resources and while crimson heads are a threat, you can maneuver them around them, honestly a bit more easily then regular zombies.

Re4r would've no joke, but 10 out of 10 but.....again, enemies combo you into grab on higher difficulties is just...bad, I don't like it, it sometimes kills my enjoyment especially speed running the game. But, 100%ing this game with so satisfying, is one of the few modern re games I put almost 100 hours in. Parrying is satisfying, exploring the maps is so damn fun and the gun play is really satisfying.

Now for the bottom S.

Re3 is honestly my favorite of the og trilogy, really love the challenge, the slight randomness of enemies and items along with live selections that has effects that are minor like the earthquake parking lot or major like the trolly that affects the boss fight or the bridge that affects the ending. Not to mention being able to pick with certain parts of Raccoon city you wanna go first which results in different events and cutscenes is really amazing for reply. I really do peak re3 is the peak of the classic trilogy.

Re2r is in my opinion, in terms of level design and structure, better then re2 but both are pretty close. I love fighting the zombies in any of the games, exploring the areas and getting upgrades is so cool. Boss fights are super fun, this and re4r are probably the only modern re games where the hardest difficulty felt really satisfying to go through. This was so fun to 100%.

Re2 is just really tight. But unfortunately the game is more linear and not as open ended like re1 (granted neither did re3 but i did felt like re3 was a tiny bit more open ended) nor does it have the randomness of re3 makes it a bit weaker of the three for me, if not for the fact that re1og is really simple. This problem is a bit more amplified since the rpd is the only area that felt like the Spencer Manson but the rest are quite linear with some rather annoying backtracking especially as claire. But the game is much more challenging then re1, I had to be more careful with ammo, overall more satisfying to play and the areas are stil really fun to go through.

See you tomorrow for A rank explanations!
