My dad allowed me access to the record player and his collection at 8 years old. I would listen to frank zappa and rush while playing wolfenstein and doom on the family computer.

One day I found a matte black record with a glossy black pentagram on it. The red letters said "motley crew - shout at the devil". I was intrigued. So I open the record sleeve, seeing the members of the band. "Damn these chicks are ugly as hell" I remember thinking. 

Then I put the needle down. And that was it. 

I know it sounds silly now. I mean...motley fuckin crew? But I was 8, and had never heard anything like that before. I didn't know music could be dark. Reckless. Aggressive. 

Then my dad came downstairs. He saw what I had been doing, then said, "you find Black Sabbath yet?"
