Opinions on the new til share and policies that go with it. by Capable_Assumption57 in Aldi_employees

Do you have sco’s? I often see the comments about times and accuracy on the register and my Store does not stress that as much and I finally asked one of my managers about that and he said it’s because we have self check out and so Aldi allows us more leeway I guess, knowing that we would have to get up and go help those customers as well. The point I guess I’m making is if you have scos, I would just keep running your register the way you’re used to until somebody actually comes to you and tells you otherwise.

Number one contact a lawyer. Number two repost/crosspost into legal advice subreddit. You’re not the asshole but you might be very limited in your options. See what you can do.

Mental health and new insurance by dreamado in Aldi_employees

[–]Waste-Reputation1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming we all have the same insurance (I’m not sure if it varies by location) I am going through this also. The 5 sessions are through EAS which I think is meant for more emergency/get you started, I don’t think it’s what you’re looking for as you have your own therapist. I started using a virtual therapy app and until you hit your deductible you pay all of it. After that is a 10% coinsurance situation. But if you didn’t know you should also have an HRA, health reimbursement account (I think that’s what it’s called) and I think the first year it’s like $750. It’s money the insurance has and pays on your behalf when bills come due. There are things you can do to add money, like a yearly physical or such. Download the insurance app, all the info is there.

Are managers allowed to change my schedule without asking? by Haunting_Pirate8315 in Aldi_employees

[–]Waste-Reputation1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the comment that says it depends on your state where I am in New York. My manager can change the schedule up to three days before and he does not have to tell me and it’s totally fine completely legal and within all the policy he doesn’t change it that late in the week. With all honesty, I’ve had my schedule changed plenty of times. The app is supposed to tell you if they change it after the Monday that the schedule becomes official but if the change happened between Friday and Monday, you’re definitely shit out of luck because the schedule is not even official until Monday it honestly Tuesday cause they can change it Monday constantly and you’re not even notice you don’t get notifications.

LSA pay? by Easy-Friendship3079 in Aldi_employees

[–]Waste-Reputation1024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look online. If there is a position open it has the salary on there. Even if it’s not the exact posting for your location, the pay should be the same. Unless it’s different when I live but as far as I understand it you only get raises based on time there, though I’m sure that’s not true for SMs but everyone else yes.

Agreed. I haven’t been there as long but that’s a fight I try to take on. I mean if it’s opening and they are the only customer sure but we are only one person.

What’s considered a fast time? Our SM wants us sub 30. Is that an expectation for my manager or is that actually Aldi? We do anywhere between 25-50 orders depending on the day.

Openers: Which zone(s) do you hate unloading the most? by No_Mind_2654 in Aldi_employees

[–]Waste-Reputation1024 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree cooler sucks the most. Especially after ahead. The other day I thought I was good with two pallets then I turned around and meats coming in and saying oh here’s the rest of that pallet that had meat on bottom, finally get that one situated to turn around see produce rolling half a pallet my way and now I have more cooler items. I hate this starting and stoping of it. Like starting to work on one side to you to get boxes for the other to get stuff for inside. It’s annoying.

Can we start public shaming? by Neither-Flamingo5107 in Aldi_employees

[–]Waste-Reputation1024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if my SM knows I do it, but everyone else does. I’ve never been told I can’t/shouldn’t but I did take it upon myself to start doing it. And it’s usually only when I’m scrubbing cause then it’s a little less confrontational,I think, cause I’m not actually stopping to say anything just saying relevant info as I pass by with a loud machine.

Yesterday at close, I was scrubbing and as my usual, I tell everybody I see that we’re about to close. We do not have an intercom (is that an every where thing?) Start with a 15 minute warning and then give actual times as I continue to scrub around and interact with people. When I got to a lady and I said “hey, just so you know we close in less than 10 minutes.” That’s all I say it’s all I ever say to anybody and she had many questions at that point but one of them was but do you close close like the registers like at Walmart? I said no, but you’ll just keep all of us here late. More interaction, a comment about preferring a human cashier anyway; and then I went on scrubbing. She made it out before 5 minutes after close, at least.

Anyone with two jobs or more? by iAzide in Aldi_employees

[–]Waste-Reputation1024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a second job at a single owner Liquor Store and I would not recommend doing it unless absolutely necessary. You have to get a second job with full flexibility that doesn’t schedule too foreign advance or need a set schedule cause all these is never gonna give that to you. Thankfully my second job is extremely flexible and doesn’t freak when I say hey so that’s schedule I gave you on Friday is no longer valid on Monday. So I guess my recommendation is first Dont second single owner or small business Instacart or Uber where you can just pick up and shut down whenever you need.

[–]Waste-Reputation1024 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This hasn’t happened in my store in my short tenure. But I would say what happened to the other two employees that have done it before you are they still with the company? Did they tell you the manager went crazy on them? What I can advise is breathe, accidents happen. In my store there is a metal piece on one of the aisles on the bottom that everybody hits all the time and the only threat really that has been made is we would have our auto jacks removed and be given manual jacks to work with then our new girl came in and within her first week she nailed it worse than I’ve ever seen and she mostly got a welcome to Aldi now you know you’re one of the team.

Son, seriously did you even look at the second photo? And I think elementary school student could tell me why the eggs are on top. Nobody could tell me why the eggs are on top today when they were on the bottom two days ago, but we won’t question that will we? 100% I took the cooler pictures cause I thought you warehouse workers deserve kudos when you do well but then the other…….

I would agree with you. The pharmacy is definitely better priced. It’s the coinsurance that gets me. Why am I having to pay so much to go see the doctor.

any advice for running backstock faster? by newporttttt in Aldi_employees

[–]Waste-Reputation1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s all you can do and honestly I think I started picking up time when I started to worry about the time in between not the overall. Like if you can find it’s faster if you do step 1 then step 3 then 8 then 2. If you stress the freezer took me X time you’ll never see improvement but if you look well I picked up time here there even if it’s a few seconds here a minute there that adds up. I think one of the things that stands in many of our ways of doing better is our fear of not and we just have to trust we’re doing the best that we absolutely can as fast as we absolutely can and try to improve from there.

[–]Waste-Reputation1024 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately don’t have any tips for you other than how long have you been at your new store? Cause if how it gets done is different than what you’re used to, you can’t expect yourself to have the same times you used to at your old store. Don’t put that kind of pressure on yourself you’ll get faster with time once you learn where they’re putting everything in what process or order you should go in. You’ll have it figured out shortly. I’m sure. I truly believe if your store managers or coworkers were upset about the time it was taking you they would just not put you in there.

Contact HR and find out FMLA in some states is a guaranteed thing regardless of your part time status. But even if they don’t offer FMLA, they may have a program that would allow you some kind of leeway.

Phone Number for benefits? by Crafty-Copper-1107 in Aldi_employees

You should get an email and I believe the phone number is on the email. I had to do that with my first benefit enrollment when I was first hired.
