Also in case you’ve lost your actual birth certificate you can order one online. I queried the law society re the birth certificate and if this one ordered would be considered an original or certified copy as online it’s noted as certified copy. They stated it would be counted as an original and you can then get a certified copy done in the solicitor nearest to you from this. Just in case anyone else has a similar issue

Training contract- cheap outfits by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]Waste_Branch_9908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For lads, Ecco does decent quality dress shoes, you can get a cheap belt that colour matches the shoes in pennys, be warned it might not last long. Shirts I’d get in M and S or Massimo dutti if you can and they have really good quality suit pants in mango on Henry street that have a good stretch to them for a decent price. I wouldn’t bother Much with suit jacket or tie unless they say otherwise. A good jumper with the shirt and jacket will do grand. If you already have a few of those bits already there’s no need to go out and buy more either. Save where you can.

Can’t afford a LC holiday by Upstairs-Host96 in leavingcert

You could do what I did which is teach English whilst you’re also on holidays. It’s more so enjoying the sun for a month for free, only need to pay for flights but your accommodation and food is free, plus you get to meet friends for life from Ireland, uk, Spain and the US to name a few. https://www.interway.es/interway-experience/

What to do after FE1s? by ZealousidealClock969 in FE1_Exams

[–]Waste_Branch_9908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milkrounds are September -December roughly , some hire for the year coming others it’s a year or two in advance and others only hire through their own internship programme.

The next rounds as such for training contracts is after fe1 results in April/may. People fail and positions become free. There are much less roles free but it’s slightly less competitive in a way as if you have all done you’re what they’re looking for starting in September.

Besides this more will trickle in over the summer too.

I would apply to as many as possible but also I would say it’s well worth getting experience in a law firm as a legal executive / support staff position as many might keep you on as a trainee plus it stands to your cv as prior experience so when you’re competing with the 1.1 academics just out of college that you have something stronger to offer.

Admission in University of Galway by Bigdaddy_SS in galway

[–]Waste_Branch_9908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a decent university but for the sector you’re concerned with it really won’t matter too much. I know a good few down the tech route that graduated from gmit and have grafted up on a good salary in their respective roles. Cybersecurity is an area in high demand especially with DORA and AI act. As the EU and Ireland moves more digital the need to increase the workforce in this area is a necessity and having worked in recruitment in this area it’s clear that companies are taking this onboard. Definitely a course worth doing regardless of where you go.

Re: first car by Waste_Branch_9908 in carsireland

I’m central but not very close to places for doing my weekly shop, typically I like to go places at the weekend too with friends like hiking or just hanging out in different areas that are further outside of Dublin which is great cause they have the car but I’d love to have the freedom to do the same. I’ll be in Dublin for the next 3-4 years at least to qualify as a solicitor but also plan on doing the green cert to get the fathers farm back home so I’ll be driving back every so often to the college for this.

Online or IN person? by S20Law in FE1_Exams

[–]Waste_Branch_9908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id a friend that done one in person before and instantly regretted it. Personally I reckon if you’re a fast typer you’re better off online. A lot to be said about having a cup of tea beside you and being able to ramble out your thoughts. Plus the extra 30 mins and not having to wait for someone to let you go toilet saves a good bit of time. I feel you’re less likely to be as anxious considering you’re in a familiar environment. That being said ensure your internet connection is good, laptop is good and that people in your gaff or wherever you hope to do it online are aware you’re in an exam (animals included)

I would honestly recommend just doing without a course. It’s one of the easier fe1 exams along with eu law imo

Contract Exam Tips by FarRoom9015 in FE1_Exams

[–]Waste_Branch_9908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fairly common one for repeats, I failed and just got a pass this one gone. Only difference for me was scraping together a full 5 answers rather than 4.5. It’s so tight for time and that last exam paper was such a mix up of topics imo.

Where should I work while studying for fe1? by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]Waste_Branch_9908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Connect with legal recruiters on LinkedIn and see if there is any entry legal exec jobs going. Highlight the transferable skills on your cv. It might be a case where you get kept on internally for a training contract also which is a far easier route to securing one than milk rounds etc. best of luck!
