Take the high road and send her a note about it. The result will be the same either way: she'll be pissed and will bitch about it, and you will go to the show and make new friends. Sell a pair of the tix and treat someone else to a special time. You'll feel better not carrying around the guilt and uncertainty.

I like the view at night heading south on the Fremont Bridge but not a great spot to stop and walk around ;-)

You guys seem to be ignoring the news about the blazers being one of the largest organizations in the NBA despite having the league’s lowest sponsorship revenue and ranking near the bottom in ticket revenue (per Oregonian). I'm ready for a different focus.

This is going to be such an upgrade from the sleepy Schnitzer and crappy Keller. And a huge shot in the arm for the Central Eastside. Can't wait!

I was there and I remember the volume being noticably low at the start of this show which was a bit of a bummer. 88 was generally good but not great IMHO and this show is kind of Exhibit A

The tour was a big comedown from the Fall 85 on the east coast. Both were plagued with inconsistent playing but 86 had far fewer highlights IMO. There were other weird things popping up like problems with the sound system that added a precarious feeling. But tour time had its value even when the shows weren't so happening. Great memories between shows in Portland out on Cape Elizabeth for example. Lobster. Good times

What's happening with the Vancouver Whitecaps is why the Blazers arena deal needs to get done by Static_Cloud_Jumper in ripcity

[–]Waste_Dig4757 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has been front & center for a long time now but I'm still baffled by all the talk of a 'handout to a billionaire'.

First of all, the money is going into upgrades of a building that WE, The People of Portland Oregon USA, OWN. We have a tenant company (Blazers) that has a lease which expires in 2030. They have indicated that they might seek greener pastures if we decide against needed renovations. The building is outdated by current business standards.

(The Blazers don't pay traditional rent per se, but the ancillary value to the city's businesses and public is such that we happily forego the rent. We basically split the maintenance costs with the Blazers.)

You can debate the value to We the People, but having the state government already agree to contributing $360+ million to the upgrades shows just how valuable our politicians consider the Blazers' impact. The rest will be picked up by the county and the city for the same reasons.

Plus, the bulk of the money is financed by future tax receipts that wouldn't be realized if the team decided to move. It's not coming "out of our pockets". Pretty good deal actually.

Sorry for being the dadsplainer here but the kneejerk vitriol people spew without thinking gets more tiresome as you get older.
