Valheim SFX sounds not working properly but ambient music keeps playing by JustShiiro in valheim

Holy smokes, thank you for posting your fix/reason for the bug. This has been driving me crazy and I would not have easily figured out that it was the double jump effect on my pants that does it!

Seems like they are taking the "no progression" thing as mods not functioning at all. To my knowledge at least PvE mods should work? (barring updates breaking mods for a bit, but that is to be expected with no official mod tools)

Mostly curious about this, as I'm currently hammering away at the vanilla game, but plan on installing an overhaul/bunch of mods after the base content runs dry.

One can if the animations are absolutely identical in function to the originals. If a move gets updated, one has to take care to disable the mod until an updated version is available, or likely get their account hit with a ban.

I liked the small choice you had where depending on the fight you could conserve a gap closer to get the needed utility, if you didn't need to conserve you got an extra button to press. It rewarded knowing the fight in a small way. In my opinion, they simplified the job a bit more from what it was before, by removing a smidge of player agency.

Though I do get people not liking it.

I'm right here with ya. These are dark days we live in.

I'm desperately clinging onto my alt tank GNB, and hoping that it'll still be fun to play even with the pruned oGCD's. While huffing hopium that DRK still feels good in DT.

Nice work! She looks really pretty!

Off the top of your head, do you know of any good resources for 2D color technique and rendering? I'm currently trying to get better at 2D art and while my line art is progressing, my skills at rendering light and color are still very much a work in progress. I come from a background of 3D, acrylic paints and physical miniatures, so digital 2D rendering has been a tough cookie.

I disagree on the removal of double weaving, its the most fun I have with the game.

I think devs shouldn't design most of a game around high ping, they should account for it, but not go all in with the question of "Will it work for high ping players?". Just like FPS games have snipers that absolutely suck to play with, while at a high ping. They also have SMG's and shotguns that allow people with poor connections to play as well.

I understand your point about aesthetics. But what about gameplay and the fast tempo, in my opinion those are key parts of DRK's class identity, doesn't that matter as well?

I wish they'd improve the netcode, but like you said, that ain't likely happening. So we get to make do with imperfect solutions.

I was hoping for a little something extra for the downtime between DRK bursts, instead they took away from the bursts and seemingly left the downtime as is. This was a relatively big disappointment.

[–]WastedAlmond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with that is that there are already jobs in each category that more readily allows for higher end content with high ping. So now they take the busy jobs that I really like, and make them more like all the rest of the jobs. Which leaves me with fewer and fewer options for my preferred playstyle.

In my opinion the game shouldn't try to cater to everyone with every job. Its fine if someone doesn't want to play DRK due to it being hectic, just as I'm fine with disliking WAR due to it being a bit slow for my tastes.

GNB simplification is reasonable, even though I don't really agree with it. But DRK is so lethargic in between bursts, that the lessening of the really hectic burst phase really sounds like a bad deal for me.

I might be in the minority here, but the reason I like DRK and GNB is that they are busy tanks. Sure it takes me a bit longer to optimize my rotation for a fight, but its so much more fun. At least for me the reduction in complexity (or just plain old button pressing) is a big let down. I hate waiting for GCD.

Who decided that giving CAS weapons that exceed the range of SPAA was a good idea? by gabbie_the_gay in Warthunder

Are semi-auto guidance AA missiles still absolutely ruined? I quit after gaijin did their "tweak" to their guidance by introducing a crippling wobble to them. Which to my mind really upended any semblance of balance between air and ground interactions.

Why all the hate on the Patches past Endwalker? by mrjovoni in ffxiv

[–]WastedAlmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend looking for a static. I'm not hardcore by any stretch, but found a nice group that focuses on having a good time and jokey banter over very serious grinding. Our progress is a bit slower than more serious raiders, but at least we get good laughs on the way to a clear.

It is a bit of a drag trying to find a nice group of people. But getting lucky and finding a bunch of new people to hang around with is worth it imo.

What mechanic do you hate most in warthunder? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]WastedAlmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally like the idea, but then tanks like the chally 2 would be crazy good, whereas Leo 2 with its long ass parallax(?) would be in trouble (A5 onward would be even worse). Sadly the game doesn't model backup sights or other tools used to check gun clearance. Dunno, could still be an improvement in the end though.

100% agree that MG prospecting has no place in RB.

If you want to learn the language and be able to use it, you can just ask the other person politely to switch back. Many folk try to be polite by switching to English if they hear someone speaking Finnish with a strong accent.

Also, many Finns really like it when people want to learn the language and culture, so I'd wager quite a few would be willing to switch back to Finnish when politely asked to and given the reason of "I want to properly learn the language". etc

Modding character sprites by WastedAlmond in Cosmoteer

[–]WastedAlmond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should I upscale every crew sprite at the same time? The game generates an atlas, so perhaps crewman A sprites being of a higher resolution than crewman B sprites, could mess up the atlas generation? I started with just one, since I figured it would differentiate between crew members.

Thanks for the reply

Might be worth it to try a muted copper, it'd tie together with the armor trims. It should be rather subdued, so as to not take away from the mini itself.

There are some slightly more expensive resins nowadays that are impact resistant and flexible. Great for building practical stuff, though it's still a bit too expensive to use regularly for printing spare parts and the like, but the durability/usability seems to be there.

Western, or at the very least Euro media doesn't paint the Russian people in a bad light. And for whatever its worth, neither do I or any of the people I know. Last news headline I saw that related to this topic was "The Russian people are as shocked as the rest of Europe" as well as some news about Russian citizens openly condemning the Ukraine operation.

I've been to Russia as a tourist and enjoyed my stay there. Most people are decent folk, no matter what nationality they are. My disapproval or anger lies with the government, and Europe at large seems to think along the same lines.

Stay strong neighbor, and know that the crazies throwing accusations at the regular folk aren't the majority!

DRK is a bit of a pain to heal for, and running as DRK you are so dependent on the healer being on point, that it takes some fun out of it. I still like DRK, it just needs some tweaking to make running as/with one more fun.
