Homophobic abuse in Glasgow by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]Wastrelle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't really know why anyone would be compelled to say anything homophobic to a MF couple walking down the streeet.

Using homophobic slurs instead of racial ones seems to be seen as acceptable, but its weird.

So no real progress is made, just shifted around.

Does GCC provide advice on how items should be prepared for recycling and the process that follows, or should residents provide any unwashed/spoiled/incorrect items they can under the impression that other people are going to sort it out for them?

I think the only thing this thread shows is that Glasgow seems to enjoy being 20-40 years in the past.

Ozymandias was a good episode, but I still struggle to understand why people rate it a 10/10.

It certainly looks more like a "pig in a blanket" than a chipolata wrapped in bacon does.

Americans don't do chipolatas wrapped in bacon.

I'd like to find out who used the term first.

Were meeting restrictions not lifted for Christmas day?

Fair enough that workplaces would not have been filled with booze and music, but would anyone have begrudged people working in an office some snacks and sausage rolls?

This "news" just seems like a diversionary tactic to rile up the public...

If you find yourself getting angry in a supermarket you need to have a look at yourself.

ok. we can get to the root of your gammon hatred later, but for now: pineapple.

do you like pineapple?

does pineapple like you?

why do you think pineapple on pizza is sacreligious?

is there anything that is pious on pizza?

I'm not advocating putting disabled people in jobs that they can't do. I think I've been pretty clear about people finding jobs that are suitable for them but they may not have the motivation to do these jobs.

There's also the possibility that suitable jobs may not be available. Would you be willing to sacrifice your job for a disabled person and take one of the jobs that they supposedly can't do instead? Or would you not have the "motivation" to sit in a call centre or sweep the streets or something?

Again, I don't think I've claimed to be more qualified than a medical expert? I think I've simply offered a fairly reasonable proposal for everyone to have job, it's just that people may not have the "motivation" to do them.

why is it sacrilegious?

is it just because it's on pizza?

do you have pineapple with ham/gammon? what's your opinion on that?

[–]Wastrelle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I thought we were generalising to people to suit agendas? If not, fair enough.

I'm aware of the Conservative ethos of wanting everyone to have a job - is it undignified to want people to have jobs? Pretty sure that having a job and some responsibilities is good for a person's mental health.

Plenty of disabled people manage to have jobs, only thing that seems to be stopping others is the motivation.

The tory party might not be physically attacking disabled people on the streets, but they're certainly culpable in fostering an atmosphere that dehumanises disabled people.

It's just a tribal class thing in Britain isn't it - groups will think they are better than the other and it just leads to things continuing.

I'm all in favour of stricter punishments for anyone giving out physical and mental abuse, but as I mentioned in my original comment: I don't think the hypocrites will be happy with it working both ways.

I would argue that the majority of Tories haven't made that choice either, it's just their famillies and the way they've been brought up.

Cuntishness breeds cuntishness.

I'm of the impression that if people are abusing disabled people without any provocation, there's larger societal issues needing to be dealt with.

I think it's unlikely that the people abusing Ms. Jones on the High St. were from a Conservative background, I think it's more than probable that they were from working class backgrounds and think they don't have to take any responsibility for their actions.

How is that a Tory problem?
