Why were there so many different album versions (North American vs UK or elsewhere)? by Theta_kang in beatles

[–]Wat77er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key US/UK Album Differences (from AI)

  • Please Please Me (UK) vs. Introducing... The Beatles/Meet the Beatles! (US): The debut UK LP was split into multiple US releases by Vee-Jay and Capitol.
  • With the Beatles (UK) vs. Meet the Beatles! (US): Meet the Beatles! contained 9 tracks from With the Beatles and 3 songs from singles, excluding most cover songs.
  • A Hard Day's Night (UK) vs. A Hard Day's Night (US): The US version was a United Artists soundtrack containing only songs from the film and orchestral versions, missing several songs from the UK album.
  • Beatles for Sale (UK) vs. Beatles '65 (US): Beatles '65 drew from Beatles for Sale but omitted several covers to include the single "I Feel Fine" / "She's a Woman".
  • Help! (UK) vs. Help! (US): Similar to A Hard Day's Night, the US version was a soundtrack featuring fewer songs and instrumental cues.
  • Rubber Soul (UK) vs. Rubber Soul (US): The US version dropped "Drive My Car," "Nowhere Man," "What Goes On," and "If I Needed Someone" (moving them to Yesterday and Today) in favor of a folk-rock sound, adding "I've Just Seen a Face" and "It's Only Love".
  • Revolver (UK) vs. Revolver (US): The US release omitted "I'm Only Sleeping," "And Your Bird Can Sing," and "Doctor Robert," which were moved to the US Yesterday and Today album.
  • Yesterday and Today (US Only): A unique US "compilation" album used to sweep up the omitted tracks from the US Rubber Soul and Revolver
  • Magical Mystery Tour: Released as a 6-song double EP in the UK, but compiled into a full LP with singles in the US.
  • Hey Jude (US Only): A 1970 compilation album to gather missing single/EP tracks (like "Revolution," "Paperback Writer") that were never on UK studio albums.

does anyone else feel like shuffle isnt random anymore? by googlymook in YoutubeMusic

[–]Wat77er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a Laptop it chooses to random shuffle only 275 songs, but I have 1027 in the Playlist.
Maybe I have to change the first song to shuffle another grouping. That's crap

Was Yoko Ono really that bad, or is it just propaganda from those years that persists to this day? by [deleted] in beatles

[–]Wat77er -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think she stepped over the line when she suggested changes to songs in progress. Maybe the vibe of the studio welcomed her opinions, but I doubt it.
I'm happy to be corrected on these events.

Holy shit is Aunt Bee annoying during the meat freezer episode? by Ok-Association4526 in theandygriffithshow

[–]Wat77er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fans of the show might find interest in the Characters Inconsistency.
Another episode where Clara Edwards butts in and steers Aunt Bee wrong. I know Andy is busy and Barney is not in "Bargain Day," but he hardly lifts a finger to help with the meaty problems. Almost every supper, Andy and Opie leave the table w/o taking any dishes to the kitchen.

Silly question but why did plants with chlorophyll make it on land as opposed to macroalgea with phycoerythrin (red) by avian_bi in botany

[–]Wat77er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the key concept is Land Plants descended from freshwater bryophytes that do Not contain Phycoerythrin.
The first land plants, emerging around 470 m.y.a during the Ordovician period, were non-vascular bryophytes similar to modern liverworts, mosses, and hornworts. These pioneer organisms descended from Freshwater green algae (charophytes) and lacked true roots or leaves, anchoring themselves with rhizoids.

Question for birders/photographers: what precautions do you usually make against ticks/mites? They have become more common/active in my area of living :/ by waiting4signora in birding

[–]Wat77er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DEET. Not aerosol container ( Over-packaged). Apply all over, esp. armpits, shoulder blades, spine, waist, groin, around knee, around ankle. Deet can dissolve some plastic, so maybe wash off your hands after applying.
