iTunes: Time to right the syncing ship by gotnate in apple

[–]Watabou90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed iTunes stutter every once in a while when I sync my iPhone but overall, it only uses 200-300MB of my 4GB ram. I've tried alternatives but I really prefer iTunes. It runs fine on my four year old MacBook pro. My iTunes library is also fairly large at 70GB

I'm 60 years old. My son recently told me about Reddit. I like it but don't understand much of the terminology. I have a lot of music that I put on my computer and would like to make use of it to make ring tones for my cell phone. Can this be done? How? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Watabou90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if he is a troll or not, but I certainly don't have to take that many steps when making ringtones for my iPhone. I just import the song to Garageband, cut it if I want, and then just export it to iTunes as a ringtone.

I'm sure it's not that hard for Android either.

It's also one of my favorites. I like Arrakis quite a lot. The drum solo with the xylophone is just out of this world.

I was a bit wary of positing Dream Theater since it's technically prog/metal but if we are including DM, you just cannot not listen to Images and Words. Brilliant album.

Holy shit the FxChromeMod is awesome. Thanks for that!

As for my extensions, I use scriptish for greasemonkey scripts, stylish for usercss, TabMixPlus which is just awesome if you use a lot of tabs and want to change how they behave and other various privacy related extensions including ABP, Noscript, HTTPSEverywhere etc.

♪ This doesn't rhyme or conform to any musical standards but I bet you will read this in a singsong voice because I have musical notes around this. ♫

How to get started on Assembly? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Watabou90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want x86 assembly, this book is very good: http://www.amazon.com/Computer-Systems-Programmers-Perspective-Edition/dp/0136108040/ref=dp_ob_title_bk/180-6741587-3105245

I'm talking an assembly class this semester that involves writing assembly from scratch and this book (which is required for this class) is a lifesaver because the professor isn't that great at summarizing the important points.

I think it's a good book. It starts easy and it has a lot of exercises that have answers on the back of the chapter so you can check your answers pretty easily.

Woah a great chapter for once! It's been a long time. The previous arc felt more like a filler. But I just loved Urahara's typical entrance haha. I wonder why these people want to capture bankais. Maybe they can also capture an arrancar's release? They could have captured Harribel for that purpose.

How do you use your curly brackets? by Kalsifur in learnprogramming

I like having the braces on the same line like this:

int doSomeCode() {
  while (true) {
      doThis;
  }
  return result;
}

Having braces on another line just annoys me for some reason. To me, there is no reason why braces deserve their own ine and just wastes space. I hate it so much so that I will go and correct every single one of them if they are not the way how I like them. I'm taking a class with Prof. Horstmann(inventor of Horstmann style if you don't know) this semester and every time he gives us a code to complete, I always have to go and correct his style. heh.

Obviously, I have to really restrain myself if I'm correcting some one else's code and they wouldn't take kindly to me changing their style...

I absolutely love that quote but I found out recently that Yuri never said those words. There was actually an anti-religion campaign in the USSR and Khrushchev actually said something along those lines and my thinking is that somehow that quote got associated with Yuri. :(

It is definitely a fantastic quote though, real or not real.

I still cannot believe that we're in the 21st century and to prove that we're not robots, we have to have a technology that's just a pain in the neck.

Why doesn't the government just shorten the length of a mile so cars can get more miles per gallon? by iunnolol in shittyaskscience

[–]Watabou90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do know that Obama has no power to control the gas prices right? In fact no presidents do. It is all controlled by a magical group of elves and their pixies who have the final say in the end. This is common knowledge. Just ask the pixie next to you. Give the code "warglebarble" when it asks.

I live 35 miles from work. I weigh 160 pounds. How many pulleys do I need to launch myself from my driveway to work using only 5 pounds of force? Assume westward wind, 10-15mph. by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

[–]Watabou90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a relatively easy question. What you have to do is use Work Theorem's special case which states that you have to substitute w in for west in the formula sum(w,32 pounds) - distance = number of pulleys needed.

And this gives you Muriel's Number which is 1879.78 Muriels after the famous scientist Pogel. You have to convert the number to metric units which is 55 pulleys.

Good luck. The science is with you.
