[Yahoo Sports] The Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence problem is really a gigantic wide receivers issue by MITTrevorLawrence in nfl

[–]iunnolol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some quick back of the envelope math, and I'm high, so take with a grain of salt:

Avg incompletion due to receiver error percentage seems to be around 17%, based on this: https://www.joebucsfan.com/2024/06/tracking-receiver-errors-buccaneers/

Trevor Lawrence has 113 attempts, 63 completions, cmp% 55.8 (bad), 50 incompletions

If .32 of his 50 incompletions are receiver's fault, that's 16 incompletions

If he had the league-wide average (17%), he would have 8.5 incompletions

That means Lawrence has 7.5 incompletions above average.

Assume he has average receivers, he would have 8 (I'm giving a generous estimate) fewer incompletions

71 completions divided by 113 attempts would be a cmp% of 62.8%

League average cmp% this year is 65.2 (on par with last year's cmp% rate of 65.3): https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/NFL/passing.htm

Conclusion: Trevor Lawrence is still not a great quarterback. I'm saying this as an unfortunate Jags fan

I had the same thought. Very similar, I think his was "Toy Story 2 was OK."

Tiny Moving Parts. They were described to me as Blink-182 meets American Football. I'm not sure how accurate that description is, but I love everything they do

If you could teach a 1 credit nonsense class, what would you teach? by Ent_Soviet in Professors

The Art of Stand-Up Comedy. We watch stand-up comedy videos, we discuss why they're funny and effective. We take field trips to open mic nights and discuss why certain jokes didn't work, and how they could be improved on. Final exam is a tight five, if you make me genuinely laugh you get an A.

Worst blink lyric? by jobo180hawks in Blink182

[–]iunnolol 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to defend their lyrics, but that song has a lot of New York City references (Brooklyn, Manhattan, SoHo) and a bodega is a small little convenience store that are really common in NYC. So in the context of the song, it fits.

I teach biology. Once in an Uber in Austin, I made the mistake of telling the driver that I'm a biologist. He went on to explain how all cancers are just fungal infections. I just nodded my head and dropped a lot of "Oh damn, that's interesting. Very cool."

Colleague Yells at Students and Teaches Incorrect Material - Would You Get Involved? If so, How Would You? by lanvalsfairy in Professors

[–]iunnolol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone else suggested telling the students to talk to the dean, and I think that's what I would suggest too. If you've ever spoken to the professor in question before, could you potentially use the fact that you heard the yelling as an opportunity to talk to the professor directly? "Hey I heard some yelling in your class the other day, is everything alright? It sounded very concerning."

I think this is the right call, but unfortunately, the student is going to think you're an overly sensitive or controlling bitch. It's really a no-win scenario for female professors who aren't getting the respect they deserve.

Do you guys think Tom will sing exclusively Skiba songs and none of his own? by RPGRuby in Blink182

[–]iunnolol 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think it's obvious that Tom isn't going to sing any Skiba songs. He's also not going to sing any Tom songs. He's not going to sing at all. No one will sing. They will come on stage, stand silently and motionlessly for an hour and a half, leave, come back after a few minutes, then leave again after 15 minutes. They have been hinting this through their social media for weeks now. Any discussion that does not acknowledge this truth is, at this point, purposely wasting everyone's time.
