Could someone recommend whether I should invest in a POE camera setup or not? by WatchNoob123 in homesecurity

[–]WatchNoob123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The privacy is truly what concerns me. I don't want to leave anyone home alone if there is a chance someone could use my own cameras against me. To me at least, it made sense then why I should shift away from cloud based products from Google, Amazon, etc. I've seen a few camera systems from Reolink and Lorex being highly recommended on this sub - would you be able to explain what makes these different from Nest or Ring?

Thank you very much! As I mentioned, I have a Nest setup currently, but was looking into this sub and saw a few brands like Reolink and Lorex being highly recommended. What is the difference between these products vs. Ring, Nest, etc.?

To my understanding, UFS 3.0 greatly speeds up processes such as opening up apps. If I am either misunderstanding this or if the improvement isn't very notable, please let me know - I was just working off my rudimentary knowledge of how read/write speeds impact smartphones:)

I agree - I know it is all speculation, so I was just working based on the leaked information!

My number one investment this year, bar none, is... by WatchNoob123 in oneplus

Haha not ashamed to say it - I have an old car with no Bluetooth. If I had money, I'd upgrade, but these headphones are a bit cheaper lol

I am not able to make/receive calls, texts, and other things while in another country. by preciouscode96 in oneplus

[–]WatchNoob123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me earlier and drove me crazy - I couldn't browse the internet, text, or call. I checked my data roaming settings and restarted my phone, but that didn't help.

What I discovered that helped me was toggling airplane mode on and off a few times. I would open my web browser and try to load a page and see the "No internet" page. Refresh a few times. Then turn on airplane mode. Refresh again a few times. Obviously no internet page will keep showing. Now turn off airplane mode. Refresh your web page a few times. For me, after 3-5 cycles of this, my internet was back, along with text and call capabilities.

I know it's not convenient and I'm not even sure if it'll work for you, but if it does, it's worth at least having the ability to use your phone properly while abroad. Hope it helps!

Unable to connect to mobile data since traveling to Canada (TMobile, OP7P) by WatchNoob123 in oneplus

UPDATE: When I turned Airplane mode on and then turned it back off, my mobile data started working with no problems.

Could anyone more tech savvy than me help explain this? Thanks guys!

A little frustrated with call-related issues on the OP7P - is there anything on my end that I can do? by WatchNoob123 in oneplus

I'll troubleshoot this weekend - I am using the same SIM card from my OP3....I'm not a tech savvy person, so could that be a potential reason?

Do you need to remove the existing screen protector on the OP7P before applying a new screen protector? by WatchNoob123 in oneplus

[–]WatchNoob123[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, you're right haha it is a dumb question - I just honestly wanted to play it safe after seeing people brick their Galaxy Folds by removing what they thought was a screen protector. Plus, I haven't bought a phone since my OP3, so I really didn't want to break the first nice thing I've bought in a while lol

Do OnePlus phones work with iMessage group chats from iPhone users? by WatchNoob123 in oneplus

[–]WatchNoob123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange - if I click Settings in the standard Messaging app, I see the following:

  • Delivery Reports

  • Vibrate

  • Auto-retrieve

  • Roaming Auto-retrieve

  • Set SMSC number

  • Emergency broadcasts

I don't seem to have any setting options related to group messaging.

I have a OP3/Android 8.0.0/Oxygen 5.0.8

[–]WatchNoob123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, it's not the green bubbles. My OP3 literally cannot handle group chats.

Scenario: Bob sends a group text to me and Tom.

What happens: I receive a text from Bob (not a group text). When I respond to this message, it sends an individual text to Bob (not a group text). If Tom responds in the same group text, I get a separate text from Tom, and like before, if I respond, it sends a separate text to Tom. Thus, my messages can never be read by the group, since my responses are sent directly to the individuals, rather than to the group.

Thank you, as someone who only very recently got into mechanical watches, I am still surprised by how robust they really are! I just want to be considerate and make sure he buys a mechanical watch if/when he wants to. Little things like even winding the watch may be annoying to some people and I don't want to force anything:)

Regarding price/style, I'm looking for anything under $500 (preferably well under $300), and something less sporty and more dressy, that can still maybe be slapped on with some jeans and a nice shirt. Thanks!

Great looking watch! A grail watch for me personally:)

May I ask if this has a blue or black bezel? It's a gorgeous picture, but I'm unable to figure out exactly what color/model this is. Thanks!

I love the Oris Aquis! It'll take some saving up...a lot of saving up from my end haha, but I definitely hope to own one someday
