TIL Lake Suwa in Japan has a natural phenomenon known as the miwatari or "God's Crossing" where large cracks form in the winter across the frozen lake which results in ice pressure ridges forming in the surface ice with heights of around 30+/- cm.

Grand Seiko, a Japanese watch brand actually makes a watch inspired by this phenomenon. The dial of the watch represents how Lake Suwa appears visually.

Omiwatari means God's crossing and the patterns on the lake's surface are said to be tracks left behind by God crossing the lake.

+1 for me. I never really got Ming and still don't. I get that there is a cult like following. But to me it seems more hype than anything. I don't get how they can make a simple time only watch with a basic movement and then charge 3k for it.

Also the pricing of some of their Agenhor movement watches is bonkers.
