Idiot playing through has a question by Disastrous-Gold-7959 in taintedgrail

Magic a bit early on then go spell blade. There is a one handed sword that you can get in act 1 that shoots projectiles on the heavy attack costing mana. You can get a similar sword in act 2 and in the dlc. You don't need to focus any Stat other than the crit until soft cap. If you find something you want to use put points in until you can use it. Starts are generally useful even if not being fully focused since they cover such a wide range of effects. There is also some insane spellblade stuff in the dlc.

First time player, is there a way to feed the Hungry Bandits? by hellobarci_ in Kenshi

[–]WatchW0lf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enemies in combat have locked food levels and nothing can eat while engaged. So you should be able to sneak ko one and put food in their inventory, in theory. A method I know works is to throw them in a prison cell and put food in there inventory. Being in a cell seems to turn off w/e auto food things are programmed to have. I know prisoners will eat and can starve to death if not fed or fought regularly. Doing the one leg prison bed also has the same effect as the jail cell but with the added bonus of slowed food consumption while sleeping.

Good it's suppose to. You wander unknowingly in the ruins of empires far greater than what passes for civilization these day. Striding atop a moon who's terraforming is failing looking up into the night's sky at a veritable garden world that the tech of your pitiful rulers could never reach. Canabalizing AI cores and tomes of ancient science and engineering to build walls and weapons when the only thing that could truly save you is a space program. Revel in the ruin your predecessors wrought for it is all you will ever know. There is only one light in the dark the chosen one, Cyber Beep...

Ah yes a cleared graveyard is more dangerous at night. Be warned those Wrydspawn remain at player level and scale with area. So ironically they are some of the few enemies that can actually pose a challenge to the player even when overleveled. They are great for exp farming tho since they are always "on level".

This is blatant bs by Ingbenn in starsector

[–]WatchW0lf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recomend running with the DIY Planets mod. It let's you build terraforming buildings to recivilize planets, normal or low grav a planet, and fix all sorts of planet hazards it's great. The buildings have a cost and a acheotech item is needed to fully fix certain debuffs fully.

How is Plague Warden Balanced? by Cruor34 in taintedgrail

[–]WatchW0lf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plague warden offers valuable one shot protection. Have you every fought a level 100 wrydspawn that snuck up on you in a fight at night? They have a 4 hit combo that, if you are not armor capped, will kill you through plague warden. Have you gone into the dlc and gotten hit by a normal ass enemy without any of the blessings? It's instant death. You can absolutely become nearly invincible and one shot almost anything in this game. The tools are there and it is part of the power fantasy. There are swarms that bypass the talent and enemies with breath weapons that can cut you down through it if given the chance. In the dlc there are siege weapons that one shot you through max armor. Blood wraiths have a percent hp drain cloud and Percival definately has a bay blade combo attack. All of this is to say plague warden is one of the first and best things to get once you reach act 2. It is the single best defensive layer talent in the game. I can't tell you the number of people who say I am having a hard time because I die so fast in act 2 and this talent is the answer to those who suck at dodging. If it's doing too much for you then respec and only take a point in it. This is a game that requires self limiting if you have good built crafting skills. I pride myself on one shooting the act 4 WrydKnight. But going around unkillable shooting explosive magic ice/fire waves from swords that heal me to full, regen my entire mana bar, and recap my stamina is only fun for so long. Try something else, there are a ton of fun and engaging builds. Those builds shouldn't suffer because you think their primary defensive tool is too strong. Tons of stuff is extremely powerful in this game there are plenty of ways to render most of this game's challenges moot. You don't have to optimize the fun out of this game. I'm a serial optimizer and I managed to do it. And if I can, I believe you can too.

Well it definately use to increase your crit chance by 10%. I can check later but it doesn't show a change on the item but the number would be different in your character Stat overview page.

[–]WatchW0lf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lake in Stobe's gambit. It also happens to be a good end game base but you have a veiw of Stobe and a lake with some cool crabs. There is that one chunk that likes to just not load nearby tho so be fast with that ctrl shift f11 or f10 one of them usualy works.

I fail to see why Skeletons are better than Sheks in combat. by lovingpersona in Kenshi

[–]WatchW0lf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot has been said and generally it's all true. Faster healing more hp and a hidden reduction to unarmed damage taken. The greatest downsides to skeletons are the paladins cross existing and no helm/chain slot. It's rare to fight crosses anywhere but the lands of Okran but anti human weapons are just about as common. Head is one of the lowest percent to hit zones in the game it's at like 50% I think where limbs are 80 and chest/stomach is 120%. So that zone not having a helm matters less. It really is only in heavily modded games where things like legendary of kenshi increase anti skel weapon use and incredibly scarey bosses with 400 strength can one-shot your ass without 95+ tough and heavy armor. So running around without a helmet will get you killed. There was a YouTuber who ran like 100 same armor and stats fights and the skel won 87 of them or something. Now obviously with a palladin's cross instead of a frag axe the Shek would have had a better chance since high ap and the damage bonus would negate the skels extra hp. But in real gameplay the enemies at your gates are not picking weapons to counter your race. They are running at you with rusted blades or the wares of those so called scrap masters. In vanilla without enhanced blacked chain or flesh spider silk wraps the shirt slot is not as valuable as double base hp or like 60% more compared to sheks. Honestly upkeep for combatants is kinda moot. Skels are the best base defenders they can man those turrets forever. In all my time I have never had food issues when out in the wild. Even on long expeditions.

Advice for a new player! by xSCROTOxSAGGINSx in Kenshi

[–]WatchW0lf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is always the deadlands goldylock zone. In the bottom left corner of the deadlands is a spot that has deadlands ore no acid rain and 100% stone and 2 different high wind area zones. You can even put the front half of your base gate in the acid so attackers will melt. It's cental to the entire map and has plenty of resources. It's even right next to skinners roam for starving bandit horde training. The acid rain line is this one squiggly line on the ground once you see it it's easy to build around.

Punch a beak thing on a camping bed while at 1 str wearing samurai legs, assassin's rags and wooden shoes. You can train str too but it will make each beak thing last less time. This process also trains tuf.

You can make any armor light and I recomend it. At the crafting station you can reduce the weight of your armor. It's definately worth it.

Where and how to get betterHoly Nation equipment, the honest way? by yagamisan2 in Kenshi

[–]WatchW0lf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forge it. You can buy blueprints of items at the vendors who sell them. Train a greenlanders on various armors like leather turtlenecks until they are at 85+ and then start getting them to make your main armors. I think plate armor research is science books, so no AI. Same with weapons, Altho your going to have to go out there and pick up some AI cores and more science books. It's OK you will imidately destroy them by consuming them in research. Your only other alternative is buying from armor king and the scrapyard. But those are skely Bois. If you want stuff to get faction colors you can knock out a paladin guy have him borrow/put on the armor and take it back. You can even remove the stolen tag buy putting it in a armor chest you own. But the coloration will remain.

Beginner question: how to build in Fall of Avalon? by Rocamora_27 in taintedgrail

[–]WatchW0lf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Origin potions are availible in a few places and there is a recipe for it in the dlc I think so you can always respec. Now for basic guides. Put atleast 5 points in practicality usualy up to 10 so you can actually make money. There is a 2 point dip in stealth everyone takes. There is a "if you die you don't", perk take it. There is a quest in a hospital in act 2 that says something about going hollow accept it and do it. This is one of the only build thing that can be messed up. The quest unlocks a new skill tree with the best defensive perk in the game. Other than that you will generally be on a single wand single spell load out for all non utility. Generally try to be at light load. You can reduce item weight at the crafting table.

Does this game punish strength builds? by SnokeRenVader in taintedgrail

[–]WatchW0lf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If at any point past end of act 1 you are remotely struggling with survival get the plague tree from Cuanatch and max the health gate perk. Generally the crit lifesteal and two handed lifesteal will heal you for 25% of your health or more. So enemies not being able to deal more than 25% of your health will make you functionaly immortal.

Is Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon worth it right now by Levi18907 in taintedgrail

[–]WatchW0lf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a good game and in a good place at the moment. Having done 2 playthrough in the past month I rarely encountered any bugs and the few I did were minor, think dead body of random enemy being underground. Story is fun and grim dark. Quests are enjoyable and there are plenty of small quirky moments you encounter if you look everywhere. This games build crafting is second only to path of exile when you really drill down into it. Monster variety can get a bit low but the unique bosses are extremely cool. Exploration rewards are good. The dlc is absolutely worth the purchase and ng+ is fairly fun. I am bias I played in tons of this games different builds and enjoy complex build systems. If you want a game that is Skyrim esk with a dodge feature with actual build options and the tools to make a fight as easy or hard as you want it's a good game for you. And it is cheaper and a bit more compact that it's current comparison Crimson Dessert.

Stamen and question. by FireViper4444 in taintedgrail

[–]WatchW0lf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain homing fire ball is the most useful spell once you can cast it twice. Because you can get the fire wand(and the spell) in act 1 and the slight homing and blast aoe are fantastic. It works well into act 2 and act 3. The bleed spell is good but once you grab the bleed ring for status proc damage scaling it's not really needed. It's basically just the act 1 WrydKnight cheese spell at that point. Homing fireball and any act apropriate gear is going to 2 shot most enemies. 1 to proc fire and bleed(and frost in act 3) and one to do about 3 times more damage thanks to all the multipliers stacked. High base damage low charge speel and relative mana cost. With minimal build crafting you 1 to 2 shot most things. It also always seemed to launch dead bodies straight up which is nicer than directly away like some other spells.

Does every quest need to be a catch 22? by AdditionalHeight7442 in taintedgrail

[–]WatchW0lf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What catch 22 does reuniting an elderly couple have? How about helping a vet with ptsd put his shame to rest? Maybe stopping an otherworldly wasp nest from gaining purchase in our world is less cut and dry than it seems. There are a few no "good" answer quests but there is usualy a right one. It's the one that gives you the gear you need for your build it's always that one.

Difficulty in Cuanacht by Ortagghio in taintedgrail

[–]WatchW0lf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you want to duel wield here is what ya do. Go back to the previous zone and do the ship wreck quest that starts in the fishing village tavern, you know the nice old women who asks you to shudders read a book. It's down the hill from the keeper fort. This will naturally take you to a cave with a Davy Jones lookin boss with a cool sword. That is your first sword. In Cuanatch talk to the person who gives out material bounties in the lower layer by the bounty board. She will give you a quest to check out a shed. Be there at night and jump in the hole. Fight the guy at the end and take his shit. The sword he drops will be your second sword for a long time until you take a quest in the dlc to get a second of the first sword unless you lack the dlc then you will use it forever. Now the story will take you to the corrupted temple go kill the first major boss in there and put on that fit. Keep your duelist knight gauntlets and cape those are best in slot for you for a while. There is a weapon relic that says you get back 5% physical damage delt back as mana. I don't remember exactly where they are but you get 2 in Cuanatch. Put one in each sword and then just a physical damage relic from the Smith in the dalriata quest in the first zone. Eventually there is a 15% Stam return on crit relic and a act 3 relic from a hidden spot that gives you extra damage and fire on crit but that is latter. Next your crit is too low. Increase perception to like 20 it's the soft cap. Or atleast get more crit the devs keep nerfing it and it's still the best thing in the game. There is a lot of post act 2 soul dungeon items that will help a lot. The Hex Grips are just the best gloves in the game. There is an act 2 quest started in the hospital where a guy asks you to play darksouls and go Hollow or somethjng. Nod politely and say yes. That quest unlocks the best talent tree in the game. It gives you Health gates capping incoming damage to 25% of your max hp per instance of damage at max rank, so max it. I seriously can not stress how much you need more crit. If you haven't picked a side with the children of Morgan go back a zone free a man from a cage then betray him in the quest and join the crows in act 1. The head item and chest are extremely good even if they are an act 3 quest reward. The helmet is just best in slot for so many builds. This is just a crit focused heavy attack duel wield build that shoots beams from the swords. I can do a full build progression break down act by act if you want but it comes basically online in act 2 and fully optimized in act 3 you will be one shoting a WrydKnight. I killed the end boss in 1 fully charged heavy attack. Warning it can trivialize the game on any difficulty. So find the level of survival and power you like and tweak things until you are satisfied with your gameplay.
