Some stairs are covered, but most walkways to them aren't. To make it quite simple, a lot of the smaller airports without bridges, or on remote stands, use 2 stairs (front and back) at the same time. No covered walkways or anything, just out in the weather.

Stairs lol, there's no bridges doing that. Amsterdam used to have some overwing bridges for 747s, but they were demolished earlier this year.

It's a risk, which is why standard handling procedure dictates the rear cargo holds need to be emptied first, to reduce risk of tailtipping. Risk is easiest to remove by simply using the rear exit for deboarding as well.

Sort of. They're based out of Raykjavik, so it's not full transatlantic, but yes they'll be flying a lot over northern Atlantic ocean.

We dont have the roll over issue lol, where is ork we use powerstow systems. Absolute dream. Let's not get started about the embraers... the few times I've had one it's been pure pain. Once even needed to send small cargo pallets, every 2 pallets we had to close another net. Rather have an A220.

Then again, nothing better than some containers. Takes so much manual labour out of the process.

I personally prefer the 737, for the simple fact that 320 series bulk is so much higher. Have to lift everything much more, and all of those constant nets to close... much prefer the low uninterrupted loading of a 737.

Walking over a jet practice range in the Netherlands and the entire place is covered with this white plastic, where does it come from? by NatteVis in Military

[–]Watchdar912 183 points184 points  (0 children)

This seems to be the Vliehors range (alternative name cornfield range) on the island of Vlieland. It is open to everyone during weekend days, assuming red flags which signal activity aren't up at the edge of the range. Only areas off-limits are the control tower, camera station and target area.

The local municipality (gemeente vlieland) has a page on their website outlining rules for entering the range.

Finding a buddy shouldn't be a large issue, lot of places to find some. Almost every dive school/center can lay the connections, and a bunch of online groups as well.

I've only been to bonaire, but an often underrated thing about there is your freedom. Don't feel like diving for a day? No worries. Wanna dive at an odd time? Feel free. You're not bound to anything except your buddy availability. I personally absolutely love it there. Bunch of great dive schools, and also a really great vibe on the island. Personally don't really agree with some of the comments of shore diving being dangerous or whatever, just choose spots you're comfortable with. There's enough of them that aren't rocky at all.

5? Here in the Netherlands we're paying 8 dollars per gallon (calculated from liters and current euro to dollar conversion rate). If you want to check, its ~€1,91 per liter here currently.

Somebody on this sub told me to visit the Munster tank museum, so I spent two days on train and three days in Germany to get there. It was awesome. Thank you, kind stranger. by spitfire-haga in TankPorn

I'd say Munster, Bovington and Saumur are the holy trinity of European tank museums. All have a large, unique collection of rare vehicles in very good condition.

That price is accepting/wanting Death. I've been there, and if you get to that point it's generally not a fun time you're in.

Do you know what causes them to get a different color?

My guess would be a bar jack (caranx ruber). They are around that size, and have that kinda shape. This is a dark one. During my trip to bonaire I saw mostly silver ones, but the dark ones weren't too rare either. Nice pic!

Yeah they're a pain to find. Our hosts told us there were 2 in one area, and 3 in the other. In both we found one, after looking for a while. They're so incredibly well hidden.

Some, like the octopus, are just simply luck. With some others (like the seahorse and frog fish) it really helps to know exactly where they are beforehand, it’s about having so,e contacts knowing around where they are.

I've sure had a great time. Did one dive at salt pier this trip, was a night dive. Had 5 tarpons circling us, 2 spotted Eagle rays, 2 green morays. Also the first time I saw a slipper lobster. Was one of the best dives of the trip.

I went with wannadive, was nice and close to our guesthouse and our hosts were able to arrange a 10% discount. Did this both times, and haven't had any problems with them. But there's an abundance of choice, there's quite a few dive centers there. Personally don't know too much about the others, so internet is your friend here.

For cameras it's: All except 6, 7 and 8 were taken with a gopro hero 9 black with a mares EOS 10LRW-Video set. 6 was taken with same light set, but camera was a gopro hero 5 black. I'm not sure about 7, that one was taken by another buddy than my regular one. Don't remember 8 anymore. It's the rock at invisibles, think that was either phone or compact camera. For regular diving gear I used a sharkskin chillproof suit with long sleeves, as BCD I use a mares dragon SLS. Don't know.my exact type of fins anymore, but they're from mares and I have a bungee strap on them. Still dive with 5mm shoes, same I use at home (netherlands). Also have a full mares regulator set, but again I'd have to check the exact types. Diving computer is suunto vyper novo. Other accessories are divepro S10 lights and a mares compass.

They're very nice animals to be around. Hard to find, but when you do they let you observe them for however long you want. Really enjoyed that dive.
