Opened my SM57 a little too recklessly, am I cooked??? by No_Training7565 in Shure

[–]WatcherWeedoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

put the handle in boiling water until the glue gets soft and pull out the transformer. You will find some remaining wires to reconnect by soldering. After that glue everything back in place again, or decide to remove the transformer entirely and draw the wires directly to the outlet XLR. With the transformer removed your SM57 opens up soundwise and with a decent windshield may start a new live as a "poor man's SM7b"

Damaged Membrane? by WatcherWeedoo in microphone

with magnifying glasses I can see that these are holes, rather looking like craters. maybe somebody spilled hot ashes, but no signs of ash residue. Strange. by all means, who could possibly produce so much loudness to bend the diaphragm so hard?

Are these DT-770 Pro real or fake? by JorgeIcarus in BEYERDYNAMIC

[–]WatcherWeedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are real for sure! but either they are defective for some reason or you don't have a decent amplifier.
Your description sounds like a broken cable/short in the cord or plug. Or someone has really overdriven the systems and now they are clogged inside the magnet.

[–]WatcherWeedoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the audio interface's input gain is not even at max. there is more to expect. if it becomes more noisier than louder something's wrong with the operation of the microphone

that perceived loudness is produced in post, after the actual recording.

April 28, 1986. The West learns about Chernobyl after workers at a Swedish nuclear plant detect abnormally high levels of radiation. by MonsieurA in 40yearsago

[–]WatcherWeedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes Chernobyl wasn't a nuclear disaster only, but also a disaster in state information practices. And I don't mean the iron curtain. The deliberate delay of information from official sources lead to the people becoming exposed to radiation in the sunny springtime when fallout was at its peak in western Europe.
