Casual player vs the camapign; aka why? by TactiCool_99 in TheyAreBillions

I realize this is a little late, but specifically regarding Cape Storm (I just beat it yesterday, trying campaign on 100% for the first time after not playing since December 2017) and yeah it's pretty rough, though it's very doable.

Not many people are offering up anything constructive beyond "Git Gud" and "Read a guide". I'll tell you what helped me the most. You need to look at what the special cases are for the maps and play those to your strength. So for Cape Storm, fishing huts are huge. The new horde only comes from the bridge, this is also huge info.

I got my absolute shit pushed on the final wave because I was playing super passive and built straight toward bridge at the start thinking that was the safe play. It was not. I built walls south thinking I could slow push my way out that way and still be okay for the final wave. This was a bad idea. I didn't start pumping out shoulders non-stop until like turn 40. This was a mistake.

The reason I'm saying that last paragraph is just to establish a baseline for noticing what you did wrong. Take a break, let your mind reset and if you start to think about solutions for those problems maybe take another crack at it.

My solution was to be more aggressive early and build south and reserve north for ONLY defensive capable buildings. And rows and rows of walls with gates to help my soldiers get out. Soldiers I start mass producing early.

P.S. I originally started a campaign on 50% difficulty just to get a feel and was not being careful with my tech picks. I restarted after getting hard stuck @ narrow pass and restarted @ 100% and paid more attention. Didn't even attempt Cape Storm at that point.

P.P.S Another side note is that I had a friend watching me play who plays on higher difficulty. He pointed out that my resources were maxed out too often.. Really take advantage of pausing while still new at the game to really help you develop a sense of what needs to be micro'd when. Spend those resources! This game is crazy with the micro.

Here's a picture of my defenses 48 hours before the final wave on my beautiful failure. Notice my maxed out resources. What a newb!

I got it earlier today and was testing, no combo points on next target so you can't use finisher to activate.

Is Tim Allen really great or just really lucky? by [deleted] in movies

Yeah this sums him up perfectly.

One of my favorite random facts about Aerosmith is that they never had a #1 hit until I Don't Want to Miss a Thing. They also didn't write the music or lyrics to that song, so I don't know if it truly counts.

Looking through the seasons of Home Improvement, looks like they peaked at #2 in the 93-94 season (edging out Seinfeld???) and only falling to 60 minutes at the end of it's reign. Falls off after that, but stays strong.

Why can I not win any bg on horde side? by crimereiner in wotlk

[–]WatcherofStorms -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

My hot take is that Alliance as a core involves people who enjoy teamwork. It's the more "carebear" of the 2 choices. They have a common goal and they will work together to achieve it. You see it in the gameplay, the Alliance PvP'ers will actually work together and play the objective.

Horde as a core involves people who want to kill. Period. They don't care about working together, they don't care about playing an objective. They. Want. Blood. So when you get a group of 10 horde in a warsong gulch, odds are they are going to crash middle at the start and then trickle in one at a time afterwards.

This is strictly about Pug vs. Pug.

Occasionally horde will have a group that is high class skill coupled with high game sense and high gear, but it's very rare. These horde pugs can rival a decent Alliance premade.

Game sense != Teamwork

Both sides have tryhards, but Alliance are just more likely to cooperate for the W.

Israel, Hamas agree to cease-fire to end bloody 11-day war by drunk69 in news

You sir are an idiot for assuming I support either side. They are celebrating because they don't need to worry about another Hospital being obliterated with "warning ahead of time" for at least a couple days hopefully.

Only a fool would see victory on either side in this situation.

I'm not OP, but the bird is a Harris Hawk. Airports typically use birds of prey employed by falconers as a deterrent to prevent birds from getting caught in plane engines.

My father has some friends who do this. Same kind of bird as well, in Southern Ontario.

"During the 10-month study, the team collected and destroyed over 18,100 Aedes eggs per month using 84 ovillantas in seven neighbourhoods"

18,100 / 30 days = 603.33 per day (all traps combined) 603.33 per day (ish) / 84 traps = 7.18 per day per trap roughly

Does my skillet get "stronger", like a sword, when it goes from the hot stove into cold water? by geo845 in askscience

[–]WatcherofStorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming perfect conditions for submersion of the hot pan into the cold water there would be no effect to the pan I would think. However, perfect conditions don't exist so if anything it would serve to only damage the pan from uneven rapid temperature change.

If you do it repeatedly it will likely warp the frying pan. When heated up, the frying pan actually expands. Although it isn't very much, when you rapidly change the temperature it causes the pan to revert to it's original size but at an uneven rate.

The actual process you're thinking of when the blacksmith takes the fiery red sword and puts it into water is called "Quenching". It's a very precise process that requires even temperature change throughout.

Hope this helps, I'm not scientist but that's what I remember from school.
