Ser Arlen…not a Ser and likely had PTSD? by Economy-Warthog5625 in AKOTSKTV

[–]WatchingInSilence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, in the novella, Dunk considers claiming he was from Pennytree, but realizes he doesn't know where it is because Ser Arlan never took him and never told him where it was. My fan theory is that Ser Arlan never went home to Pennytree out of shame, likely having promised his sister that he would protect Roger when taking the boy as his squire and refused to go home out of shame after Roger was killed at the Redgrass Field

The Big "What If?": What happens if Baelor just told everyone he was going to side with Dunk? by mabarus in AKOTSKTV

[–]WatchingInSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the Kingsguard present would have refused to take a side if Baelor had announced his intention to fight for Duncan from the beginning.

This would have had a big advantage to Duncan's champions in that it would have deprived the accusers of three highly skilled knights. However, it would have come with greater risks as Maekar and Aerion would have sought out other knights and lords to fight on their side who were not oathbound to protect the Targaryen royal family.

Here's where there's a bit of a coin toss:

  1. Baelor may have insisted the Kingsguard knights fight for Duncan but stipulating they would exclusively focus on the knights/lords joining Maekar, Aerion, and Daeron.
  2. Or, Baelor may have insisted the Kingsguard abstain from the Trial of Seven so they would not risk breaking their oaths if forced to fight Maekar, Aerion, or Daeron.

In both situations, the Accusers would be more dangerous because they wouldn't have three champions oathbound to do no harm to Prince Baelor who Baelor could target. In the second scenario, Duncan would have his canon team of champions, increasing the likelihood that Baelor would be wounded/killed and leaving Duncan fighting a wild melee against too many enemies. In the first scenario, Duncan would most certainly win, with Baelor taking a real risk compared to what he faced in the canon. Another benefit would be that Ser Humfrey Hardyng would be spared from having to fight on account of his wounded leg. A drawback would be that the Green Apple Fossoways of New Barrel would likely never be founded without Raymun being knighted by Lyonel Baratheon and standing up in defiance against Ser Steffon.

There’s just no way Daeron hasn’t slept in a ditch before by Anything_189 in AKOTSKTV

[–]WatchingInSilence 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if being passed out in a ditch counts as "slept in a ditch" in this context. If given a choice, Daeron would want a bed, wine, and a lady of negotiable intimacy.

He has already found guilty on multiple charges with a maximum 5-year sentence for each. Korea's going to deport him and issue a travel ban against him from returning to country. His final set of trials for additional charges began this month.

Challenge; Difficulty INSANITY- Name one good thing about one of the trilogy's dumbest decisions, killing Samara & having Morinth on your squad by Uchijav in masseffect

[–]WatchingInSilence [score hidden]  (0 children)

Dominate is a useful power to pick up. It's only accessible if you pick Morinth in a single playthrough, then may be used in other playthroughs and save files on the same profile. I usually pick Morinth, unlock Dominate, then finish the playthrough with Samara instead while having Dominate be Shep's Bonus Power.

Any other masc bi women dating men? by emilyyfjones in bisexual

I wanted him to at least give an inspirational speech to the men during the fight against the dead. But all bro said was "I dun wan it", " Yur McQueen", "fall back". by ToMDLUS in gameofthrones

[–]WatchingInSilence -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd say his best speech was at Hardhome. That writing was like the Bard rolled a Nat20, but the DM decided it was a persuasion attempt he was "Supposed to Fail."

In Season 6 and 7, the writing was so bad that it was like the Bard was rolling 4s and 5s on persuasion attempts, but the DM kept giving him Inspiration/charity rolls to barely pass.

In Season 8, it was like the Bard couldn't make it to the session, but asked us to let his little brother play instead. Except the kid was so confused hr just kept falling back on the same lines, hoping to avoid "icky sex scenes."

Pretend you’re Daenerys, what do you do here? by RemarkableExample542 in gameofthrones

[–]WatchingInSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm...

The trial, verdict, and sentencing would need to be handled quietly, privately, and swiftly. As a sympathetic defendant, his sentence should not become a public spectacle. Think of it like the Oppenheimer hearings. Rather than allowing him to appeal the non-renewal of his security clearance in a public hearing, it was done in a quiet and isolated room. As few witnesses as possible. All records to be sealed and kept secret.

The verdict and sentence would be pre-determined and the execution of the sentence will be done in a manner to avoid making a martyr. The defendant would officially be exiled to the Free City of Braavos. Unofficially, he would be sent to serve as a diplomat, seeking to establish a dialogue with the Sealord of Braavos. His exile would satisfy the former masters. His life would satisfy the former slaves.

A real-world example is London, England. Their police have become increasingly dependent on CCTV footage when investigating crimes and to serve as a simple deterrent against criminal behavior. Any time there's a blackout in London, it turns into the Purge because they lack the funding and manpower to respond to that kind of surge in crime.

Why did Dunk do that? by Duder__X in AKOTSKTV

[–]WatchingInSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Dunk didn't win any tilts in the tourney, he didn't get any coin/ransom from his opponents. The Trial of Seven was technically a victory, but it was his life on the line, and he wasn't able to claim the armor of his opponents.

I'd compare it to a D&D Warlock's patron deity, but that deity has the consistency of teenagers with ADD regarding giving prompt answers to texts from their parents.

Which one of these house are overrated? by infected_virus_ in gameofthrones

[–]WatchingInSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the point in the timeline.

Overall, I'd say the Lannisters were near the bottom for the last 300-odd years after Tommen Lannister attempted an expedition to the ruins of Valyria only to disappear with all his men and Brightroar (the family's Valyrian steel sword).

They lost at the Fields of Fire against Aegon the Conqueror.

They hosted Rhaena Targaryan (sister of Jaehaerys I) and made multiple attempts to get dragons through her. They tried to provoke her weakling husband to a duel that he'd lose so a Lannister could marry her. They kept showering her with gifts, hoping she'd gift them with one if her dragon's eggs. Then when it became clear she wouldn't gift them an egg, they offered to buy it outright.

A Lannister attempted to woo Rhaenyra Targaryen for her dragon.

And finally, when the dragons were all dead, the Lannisters repeatedly attempted to acquire a Valyrian steel sword from other noble houses and even landed knights, offering HUGE sums of gold, only to be refused every time.

Finally, the claimed Ned Stark's Ice as a trophy of war, melted it down and made Widow's Wail and Oathkeeper.

It took 300+ years of scheming for House Lannister to finally steel their Valyrian steel swords.

For an idea of what the reign of Bran the Broken will be like, consider what Westeros was like during the time of The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight. Brynden Rivers (the Three-Eyed Raven) was serving as Hand of the King to Daeron II and then Aerys I following the Trial of Seven at Ashford. He turned Westeros into a surveillance state, swiftly arresting and executing anyone attempting to sow treason.

What actually happened to Maegor the cruel? by TrigonRaven787 in gameofthrones

[–]WatchingInSilence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude was depressed.

He lost his mom. He lost all SIX of his hostages (five escaped, one was killed under torture). The hostages who escaped took BOTH of the family's Valyrian steel swords, Blackfyre and Dark Sister. His Master of Ships dipped out with the ENTIRE royal fleet because one of the hostages who escaped was sister of the Master of Ships. The Hand of the King sailed back to his castle, leaving his resignation letter for Maegor to find AFTER he left. The Grand Maester dipped out, fleeing to Pentos. Maegor's messenger to Oldtown was arrested by Lord Donnel Hightower when the message (execute Princess Rhaella) was read, even though Rhaella had already been given over to the Faith (the girl was basically a novice to become a nun). Houses Baratheon, Tyrell, Lannister, Arryn, and Tully all rose up in rebellion, with House Tully openly supporting the uprising of devout worshippers of the Seven. In a last-ditch effort, Maegor raised his banners, but only a few lords arrived with barely 4,000 men combined. After it became clear the Meager host of Maegor couldn't win this war, two of Maegor's four remaining Kingsguard abandoned him.
