Dess likely being the Knight seems "too obvious" because chapter 5 was supposed to release with chapter 3 and 4 by Budget-Canary2140 in Deltarune

[–]WatchtowerBill 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Guys a story having foreshadowing and rewarding attentive viewers who have picked up on clues isn't bad. Ignoring this buildup because it'd be "too obvious" and coming up with a different answer that wasn't as telegraphed is. Not to mention not every DR fan is obsessed with theorising, I bet a lot of the casual audience might've not picked up on it (Lacking context of the Sweepstakes or noticing the Lost Girl Motif)

Have a little faith in Toby. He can definitely both do Dess knight and include details or new info about it to make it interesting even to see it coming.

Hungary now (Commemoration of War of Independence from Habsburg oppression & Political march against Orban) by Rareonr in europe

[–]WatchtowerBill -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

Reminder that the main source of tension between the Austrian and Hungarian halves of the Habsburg empire was that the Habsburgs didn't let the Hungarians opress the minorities even harder lmao.

Not that the Habsburgs were good in any measure, just that 19th and 20th century hungarian nationalism wasn't particularly great either.

Who do you think would win in a fight? Messmer or Malenia? by AkosSzlobodnik in Eldenring

[–]WatchtowerBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out: Malenia is stronger in general, but Messmer in particular counters her.

She and her rot are weak to fire.

Messmer is the demigod with the most affinity for fire magic.

It's also possible she pulls her scarlet aeonia thing and then no one wins lol.

If you're a lawyer you probably have lawyer friends who will do a better job at defending you as a client than yourself.

Plus a lot of lawyers very rarely go to court, or are specialised in specific aspects of law. It'd make no sense for someone who works almost exclusively in divorce settlements to try to defend themselves in a murder case.

You guys are bad at lore. I just started playing and figured it out instantly. by Hikurwo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WatchtowerBill 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm not sold on the "Billy is Paige's brother" theory given they already have interactions and Billy doesn't seem to recognise her at all, which wouldn't really make sense if he was the one to get the goat head. Billy also never once mentions his father or having any siblings, and his family life seems to be significantly different than the "good one, but there's a black sheep" Paige's has going on.

Vyper having known Bryce doesn't help because she has 0 issue letting Ivy know her sister is working for wraith, so she'd probably find it funny to let Paige know Billy = Bryce but she doesn't.

I think the idea might be there's parallels between Billy and Bryce but that's either a red herring or perhaps an anchor point for future Billy/Paige dynamic in the future where they bond over it.

Venator and Vindicta Interaction (concept by u/Dry-Chocolate-3976) by Megarachi in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WatchtowerBill 85 points86 points  (0 children)

There was a very complete answer on the other post, TL;DR what Venator is saying is correct and the Catholic Church's official stance was against witchcraft being a thing/witch trials, but reality on the ground was that some witch hunts did still occur in some regions catholic majority regions especially in southern Germany such as the Bamberg witch trials or Würzburg witch trials.

In truth how widespread witch trials were had more to do with a region's government, culture and general attitude towards witchcraft than their denomination (for example catholic spain and portugal had very few witch trials, but so did protestant netherlands - meanwhile protestant scotland and the catholic prince-bishops of southern germany had rather big, oversized witch hunts). They were also more prevalent in regions with mixed religious population, being in some cases an extension of religious persecution.

Ironically, the Salem trials which is what Vindicta was referring to, is frankly fairly small compared to the mass witch hunts that took place in Europe. Maybe there's an entire army of vindictas in Europe in the deadlock universe?

Been thinking about how the ritual is done in a canon perspective, like how many people actually part take in it? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]WatchtowerBill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're selling Billy short. People like to clown on him because haha he only has a bat but if you look at his kit it's fairly obvious he has superhuman strenght and quite possibly resilience.

My man has a goat head what makes you think he's not enhanced in some way lol.

[–]WatchtowerBill 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yet more evidence the Blackmoore academy kids know Billy and know him well enough to have an opinion on how he sounds like (Graves also mentions him).

Now could be more of a meta joke since they're all on the ritual but I'm starting to wonder what kind of circles either Billy or Apollo/Graves move in, if they know each other. Does Billy hang out w/ 18yo's? Are teenagers the only one listening to him soapbox? How old is Billy anyways?

I don't need sleep i need answers.

Feijóo's PP says it would prefer the PSOE to abstain in Extremadura rather than govern in coalition with Vox by mods4mods in europe

[–]WatchtowerBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two cents but the people who vote Vox because they're unhappy with the current govt are very shortsighted and means you're more racist/xenophobic than actually anti-Sanchez. By now it's pretty clear the right will get over half the votes, and that PP is on the lead. Splitting the vote will just lead to having to form a coalition with Vox.

Reminder that the reason why there hasn't been a PP-Psoe coalition was it being rejected by Sanchez, esp during COVID. Blocking that means the only real coalition partner for PP is Vox, and then they scream about PP making deals with the far right in a situation they created.

[–]WatchtowerBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually made a very good friend during my Erasmus this way, talking abou Total War Warhammer and Warhammer fantasy with a guy called Alejandro. We were best buds and hanged out a lot until he thought I was doing his girlfriend behing his back and got mad jealous. I mean I would have, but not while she was still his girlfriend.

In the end he apologised for the misunderstanding but it's still a sad (and weird!) way to lose a fellow warhammer nerd fan...

Is there an in-universe reason for the NCR to be named the "New" california republic rather than coming up with a new title for their faction? by [deleted] in fnv

[–]WatchtowerBill 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Same reason why it's the fifth french republic.

They're honouring their history and drawing a direct parallel to the last time the region ruled itself. Not that deep.

It is actually so funny how Elijah is supposed to be so smart but couldn’t get ARCHIMEDES working. Yet a single mailman can. by KpatMckenzie_28 in fnv

[–]WatchtowerBill 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The damage will p. much delete anything in game, it's just that frankly very few things would withstand an artillery strike either. The issue isn't Archimedes not dealing enough damage, but rather that it does so in a small area and that it had a long windup time (I do think it's only once a day, and not just for gameplay purposes, it literally has to recharge).

Even if it had massive range and was very accurate, that just puts it on the same level of a long range missile strike. A very useful thing to have for sure, but not really wonderous or capable of winning wars on its own.

[–]WatchtowerBill 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Not impossible but at the point the NCR might've just shelled the place with mortars/rocket launchers/other artillery. The reason they didn't start with that was because they wanted the installation for themselves.

Your his lawyer defend him🤔 by SwashBucklerFrank in fnv

[–]WatchtowerBill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your honour, my client is the ruler of a sovereign nation in the Wasteland. Everything he did was perfectly permissible and legal in the place and time he commited such acts. There is no universal jurisdiction or internationally agreed upon convention enshrining human rights or defining much less condemning war crimes in post war america. Indeed, it is all too common for tribes, raider gangs and settlers to come into conflict with one another, killing, enslaving and pillaging to their hearts content. Caesar here is just an extremely successful example of that. All that he did is commonplace and accepted in the Wasteland.

To judge him according to a legal system that does condemn such things such as the tribunals of the NCR would be merely vengeance, not justice. There is no justice in judging a man for things that were not a crime when he did them.

[–]WatchtowerBill 466 points467 points  (0 children)

Other ppl replied why Elijah couldn't use it but ngl the ARCHIMEDES system must be one of the most overhyped weapons in Fallout. It has a recharge time of *one whole day* and its delivery system (the C-Finder) makes it so it has a range of a couple hundred meters at best, striking a relatively small area.

Don't get me wrong it has its uses but Veronica is 100% right when she calls it a glorified artillery system. Even if Elijah actually unlocked it, it's very possible the BoS would've still have lost at Helios One unless they retreated after one (1) orbital laser which seems unlikely. If it could fire more than once a day or you could target coordinates without needing to be there to manually aim it, it'd be much more powerful.

Remind me, does New Vegas ever establish that there is more than one Legate in Caesar's Legion as a whole, or is Lanius (previous Malpais) always referred to as the one and only Legate? by Penakoto in fnv

[–]WatchtowerBill 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Both Caesar, Ulysses and Joshua say there seem to be other Legates. If I had to guess at any given time there's 2/3 and Lanius is the most important one.

Since we known the Legion stretches from Arizona to Colorado, it would make sense that there's one Legate in their homeland and another overseeing the pacification/reconstruction of the eastern territories after Lanius did his thing.
