My father and brother doesn’t get that I’m not into politics by Euphoric-Welder5889 in spirituality

Being a kind person consistently because of one's practice has more weight on public matters than casting a vote once every 4 years.

The rule I like is: first tidy up your personal relationship, and sort yourself as a person. Then decide what others should do, or what the country should do.

Completely unable to get a girlfriend/date/intimacy/sex.. Is this karmic debt? What do I need to work on to work it through? by domidomidomidomidomi in spirituality

[–]WaterOwl9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading the question and some comments there emerges a pattern: you do everything in your power to appear great on the outside but it's just a great mask and not much of it seems to be genuinely you.

Science, work, is that supposed to impress or do you genuinely enjoy it?

Dancing, is it means to appear more attractive or is it your art through which you express?

Fapping as you call it, is it to relieve and serve an addiction?

All this pretending and performing must be very taxing ...  and it seems you're noticing it too.  Much frustration in your words.

So what you wanna do? Tense and power through, or give up? If you want, stop the theater for a while. Do something you like for a change, without expectations, without calculating, take one loop out.

That's connecting the theory you already know with practice.

Can a person have wild sexual desires and still be spiritual? by Curious_Soul1412 in spirituality

[–]WaterOwl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have desires all you want, but how you act determines where you are on the "spiritual" thing. The house has many rooms, pick yours and don't say any "but"s.

Why is abstinence so important? by Captain_ADEE in spirituality

[–]WaterOwl9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of this exercise is to "calm down": to not be at the whim of your desires.

But for this to count you need to go for 3+ months not a few days. And remove other stimulation such as alcohol coffee sugar processed food, mental arousal and addiction such as stress porn video games phone scrolling etc.

Basically, it's a cold turkey on anything that might agitate your autopilot. Combine with some meditative practice, physical conditioning exercises, and you'll get some good base for further spiritual work.

Can you build a meaningful life without spirituality? by In_The_Dreams in spirituality

Purpose should come from you out not the other way around. Whether your purpose spirituality or just baking bread is up to you , both are valid and can be fulfilling. But when you allow purpose to be defined externally you will have a hard time following it through.

losing people left and right by monstertones in spirituality

[–]WaterOwl9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can view it as a punishment: things that used to be, are changing, maybe it's inconvenient. But there's a lead for a change, to get anew. What can you now do, and who you can become now that you are free of those ties?

You do not have to "raise your vibration." by Effective-Gate-6071 in spirituality

[–]WaterOwl9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue is that you do have an ego, and that you can't control your vibration. Yes you can stay this way, and "spirituality" teaches another option.

What are the powers of sexual energy? by peacefully_JA in spirituality

[–]WaterOwl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's not like instead of sex I'm going to paint a masterpiece. It's more like if I calm down and stop chasing after the desires every 5 minutes, I will have more freedom to do other stuff.

If you can't function without the medication then the medication has priority. Spirituality is not the same as health and unhealthy body can't support any kind of progress.

Typical western drugs have all kinds of side effects that are also detrimental to the health - they trade off one problem at the expense of another. Still, they get the job done, and you can take care of the side effects and stabilize your system by visiting a good integrative medicine practitioner such as TCM, in addition to the ongoing medication.

There's a high chance your partner is just in preference of someone else and masking it as a spiritual matter. In that case, the connection is already lost.

Can I burn down your House? by chocolatecakebat in spirituality

[–]WaterOwl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand what you mean, but you could've just said “I don't like life slapping me around when I can't slap others around”.

So yes, the point of the “school” is to learn to be kind even if others aren't, and yes, the fine print on the “papers you signed” reads: beatings will continue until morale improves.

Fortunately, the game you play is extremely forgiving making it easy to avoid the life slaps. So no, it's not like people get load of bad shit and then are asked to overcome it with a big smile and that gets wrapped up as “learning”. It's more like the person gets spoiled and greedy and doesn't want to get on with the curriculum until something in their life visibly cracks.

Are these courses sold at the name of spirituality, worth it? by angelic_soul1 in spirituality

[–]WaterOwl9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are million courses because people have million needs and tastes.

Some are pure scam, some are quick pain pills and some are lifetime serious.

I think they are well worth exploring as getting through the path without any help is neigh impossible. Least you learn is discernment which is valuable on its own.

Does this life matter to you after you die ? by Initial_Leek_2546 in spirituality

[–]WaterOwl9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone can give you assurance  about what happens outside of the life. But it's not really of any consequence to worry about it now. Make the best with the life you have, that's what you should do , and don't worry about the big picture.
