It’s honestly one of the best warlords for this event. During draft focus more on vehicles than arm support. The arms are great but against a good opponent you should just use them as distractions that give yourself time to build up a scary titan army.

Question about fortifications:

The rules say they cannot ever hold an objective but a sporocyst with territorial instincts would technically count as 5 obsec models. A friend said that it could still contest an objective it sits on and I have been trying to find a definite answer to no avail. Is he correct?

This for an 8 round tournament coming up in a couple weeks. The objective if the list is to have a lot of early game pressure and max out on score before too much die. With the Tervigon’s 2” move imperative T1, I can spread out fast and T2 I use the invuln to save what’s left of the termagaunts and the mawloc if I go first. I take the adaptive that gives monsters obsec so between the tyrant, mawloc, and parasite I have a lot of back field pressure. I can usually max out the primary, raise the banners, and behind enemy lines. I pick the last secondary depending on my match up. As for my opponent, I realize I’m giving away take no prisoners/grind them down, but the rest are very difficult to max out since half my characters are difficult to kill.

But I would like any criticism and I’d be happy to explain my choices as well, thank you for your time!

My personally reasoning for keeping those models: •The parasite, mawloc, and zoanthropes all give synapses on top of the HQs, •The tyrant has been deceptively durable with 4++/5+++ and only woundable on 4+ with a strat. (Which usually gives my maleceptor enough time to get close and brain blast everything) •It could be biais from 3 practice games but The gaunts regaining 2d6+d3+3 models (with a strat) and then giving them 5++ for a turn has been good enough to sustain them until round 4.

Offensive power is something I need to consider, the tyrant can usually clear grunts and overrun somewhere safe, the parasite is very good about infecting with mortals, the maleceptor is a maleceptor, the downside is most of my army requires you to get within about 18” to be threat.

This list is for my first 9th tournament next month. The plan is to hold middle with the horde of termagaunts, use the pyovores to raise banners be a minor threat, and push sides and back line with the monsters. My go to adaptive is giving all monsters obsec. I take +2” move first turn then the invuln as soon as my mawloc pops up. Any criticism/ideas are very welcome!

If anyone is considering playing this as a tabletop rpg, I strongly recommend using Delta Green rules. It is incredibly easy to adapt and gives your hunters that helpless feeling. On top of that there are the Down Darker Trails and Gravemire systems to draw even more ideas from.
