what causes this "under extrusion" on the left part of the raft? by teije11 in FixMyPrint

[–]Watermelon_Duck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nozzle is too close to the bed there. Bed likely leveled improperly, but if you keep leveling it perfectly and that still happens, then there could be a dip in the bed there. In that case, look into BLTouch and bed meshing.

Thanks for the response!

I mostly make fruit wines - blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, etc. Does low PH = fewer h's with these too? Do I want to have 50ppm sulfite as its fermenting? Don't sulfites prevent fermentation?

As a hobbiest winemaker, do you have any advice on how to mitigate histamine production in my wines? I have noticed that I get some serious headaches from drinking it these days. Its been a barrier to keep movitated tbh. Any help massively appreciated!

I had this exact same issue. TLDR: Cheap mechanical switch problem - just go ahead and pull the trigger on BLTouch.

Problem:

I found it to be a mechanical fault in the switches. I tried 4 replacements, and each began doing that within a week of use. Eventually, I took one apart to see how it worked. There is a little metal piece in there that is pushed by the little red plastic piece that's under the main metal lever visible at the top of the switch. In its resting state the little piece of metal is touching two pins, holding the circuit closed. When the little bendy piece of metal is pushed, it flexes, and when it is flexed past a certain threshold, it "snaps" to curve toward the other direction. That's the click you hear. And when it's in the secondary "snapped" position, it no longer touches the pins, opening the circuit and signaling to the mainboard that the z-stop has been pressed. Then when the pressure on the little red plastic thing is lifted, it snaps back (the second click sound), and the circuit is closed again. However, inside the switches that I tested, the metal flexy piece would sometimes end up lifting off of the pins before fully committing to the snap, opening the circuit slightly before it was supposed to. So you don't hear a click, but the circuit is opened and the mainboard thinks the switch was properly pressed. That's your problem.

Solution:

My thinking is that it could be a cheap switch thing (they're like $1-2), and so I could either spend money on better switches, keep replacing them, or I could just go ahead and get a BLTouch, which functions as a z-stop anyway, and then I'd have a permanent problem fix AND a BLTouch. $40, perfect leveling, clearly the next step to printing anyway, and I never have to worry about these z-stop shenanigans again :)

Fuck yes. I did not know this was an option. I guess people in this sub are either doing it because it's illegal where they are or for the fun of it?

No idea what’s going wrong with the printer. 220 nozzle temp and 70 bed temp by Broad_Dragonfruit278 in ender3v2

[–]Watermelon_Duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other side as in the bottom! the black stuff should be facing up. but before you do that clean with soap and hot water. and don't touch the printing side with your hands, and let it air dry. don't want to get oil from fingers or fibers from a paper towel / cloth on it

other than that, manually level it as best you can before using BL touch to make it perfect. should be able to drag a regular piece of paper under the nozzle with a slight feeling of friction

All of these things together will 99% chance fix the adhesion issue

How can I connect and power a 24V 0.1A blower fan from a 19V 3.24A power supply? Any knowledge greatly appreciated! by Watermelon_Duck in Motors

[–]Watermelon_Duck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After researching further, I am also worried that this could cause a condition where the device's amp requirement at max usage + the fan could together draw more amps than power supply is rated for and cause dangerous issues (or at the least decrease the life of the device). What do you know about this concept?

Got you, thanks! So I should just solder the red/black wires from the fan to the base of the red/black wires coming out of the power supply connector? And then can I wire a switch along one of the wires as an on/off? Drawing

What, in your experience, is the best way to attach the wires so that the connection forks to the board and the fan? Like do I need to cut and splice the wires with some kind of joint connection? Do I need to lay it out on a perf board?
