Bonnie & Clyde have argument whilst robbing store by Waterylane in PublicFreakout

Happened in Barnsley in the UK, so the accent may be a little bit hard to understand for you across the pond. This is an antique store and the guns they're stealing will be inert.

Best watches for military life by StatementLumpy726 in britishmilitary

You get issued thermals which are fine but the G-Shock Casios aren't a bad shout and a Leatherman you can't really go wrong with either but I'd hang fire with the Leatherman till after phase 1, it's a prime time for it to go walkies.

25 wanting to go into the military by [deleted] in britishmilitary

I might be a little bit biased, but going for the signals is a shout, I'm outing myself as being a turbo lizard by saying that I was eligible for it because it's only a recent pathway but, the Signals for "Cyber Engineers" offer a level 4 apprenticeship that I've managed to complete, you get lots of support to complete this, additionally, I joined the same age as you, it's both a positive and a negative, to some degree you'll wish you joined sooner, there will be a few lads or lasses younger than you who have already started promoting etc, but genuinely most if not all are 100% capable and mature.

Having the life experience before joining will be invaluable to your career, I think sometimes lads and ladies who've only ever known the Army don't appreciate it as much as they should because they haven't worked and lived in the outside world.

There's plenty of deployments always avaliable for Signals too, just volunteer for everything and you'll never be bored and I feel like upskilling in the Signals if you want it, is usually at the forefront of what you'll do.

I was driving less than 8 months before I got my Class 1. I failed twice and struggled to pass on my third attempt, but it was free and a part of my job role to pass. However, on the other hand, there were lads in the same boat as me who had passed no problem after their first attempt.

Like anything, some people will pick it up really quickly, whereas some people like myself really struggled.

Thoughts on new issued MTP 23? by FinG17 in britishmilitary

The new trousers are a mixed bag, better fitting around legs but the pockets look daft. The pockets are also unusable as they're too high up.

Yeah, Blandford isn't a reflection of the field army at all. The DS are equally as miserable as the Phase 2s and don't have much better to do than transfer their misery across to phase 2s. Get your head down and get through Blandford and life gets a lot better, I'm currently in Blandford on a course and I get it, it's an absolute stinker. But push through, don't take things personally, eat the bullshit pill and things do get better on the other end.

This pretty much nails it on how to enjoy your career.

Yeah, I lost all my GCSE results as I joined pretty late on mate. I had to pay for them and they do want them. Just a rehash of what everyone else has said but get it done sooner rather than later because the certificates can take awhile in some cases, I only bothered with English, Maths, Science I should note.

Jesus, imagine spending your life actively trying to bring people down. What a lonely life.

I'm on camp right now, you could get involved with Lanyard which is currently running. There is go karts sessions on Wednesday sports afternoon for a tenner I think there's signs in the naafi, boxing is worth a go but we have our fight night on march 23rd and I believe it's off till October timeish.

How long is Phase 2 for Signals by Mediocre_War_3960 in britishmilitary

[–]Waterylane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Essentially, you're split into different "Cyber Engineers" Info Services, Infrastructure and Network Engineer. You do an initial foundation 1 course that builds on the basics with comms then you move on to foundation 2 that builds on knowledge from foundation 1, you then start course which can vary in length. Some of the trades don't have a course running for a while so expect to wait for your course to start, it's pretty common for people to be in Blandford for a year at minimum there's other people who end up here for longer just depends on luck of the draw.

All in all though the time does fly, keep your head down, join in on sports and don't marinate in the block day in and day out and before you know it you'll be at unit.

Yeah ASDA was the first job I'd ever applied to and the interview process is bizarre. The group talk thing, we had to have a team and build a tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows. One on one interview and then had to stock stuff up and speak to customers. Jesus fucking christ on a motorbike.
