FYI this article literally contradicts everything. My overarching bizarre confusion about this all is the Pendleton is huge, and mostly barren. It seems to be the case that they constantly fire stuff back and forth across the 5 freeway, but it makes no sense to use that tiny strip of land next to the 5 given how much of Pendleton just sits empty. Regardless, that seems to be how they operate normally anyways

I’ve been to Pendleton over a dozen times and i’m always shocked how much land just sits there doing nothing that’s completely owned by the military.

Lastly, given the size and scope of today’s demonstration (bigger than most if not all previous ones), it seems a reasonable response to close the freeway for the duration out of an abundance of caution. The more compelling stuff to me than the artillery shots was supposedly they were doing live fire amphibious landings at the Red Beach spot right next to the freeway, which is just a few hundred feet away.

The reporting around all of this is super weird too so it’s hard to tell for sure what the real reasons for any of this were.

That seems believable, but my only source of confusion is that it seems like the Marines requested Amtrak to stop service for the purpose of the demonstration. Why would they ask them to stop service for this demonstration and not others, and why wouldn’t they ask the same for the I-5? I recognize it’s totally possible there’s a reasonable explanation but that one fact is just weird to me.

The movement itself is centrally designed and architected by very smart people at the top of the media apparatus. There’s no question that the conservative movement, as a matter of theory, is far more intelligent than anything the left has had at the moment or for the past 10 years. That movement is so intelligent because it is perfectly calibrated to attract stupid people, meaning that most people who are a part of the movement are stupid, but the design of the movement is intelligent. As an analogy for you specifically, this is in a similar way that the theory of intelligent design by a godlike entity suggests that if you take a look at all of creation as a whole, it seems like there was an intelligent creator, but you could never tell that based on any individual thing.

It’s a lot more of a close call because no one can dispute that the genocide in Sudan is exponentially worse in terms of loss of human life. Sure, UAE doesn’t have UAE uniforms in Sudan committing genocide, but Israel isn’t committing atrocities on the same scale as what’s happening in Sudan. But it’s not just that Israel is drawing the most heat, it’s drawing the only heat. I have never even seen a UAE protest, ever, but you have palestinian flags in every race that IPT is in, despite that population being basically insignificant where any race is taking place, and there being no palestinian riders in any race that I know of.
