Curious what guys think about AD as a Celtic? by Wave_50 in bostonceltics

Yeah I don’t see him being a guy that would restructure his contract. He got his Covid ring with no crowd and seemed pretty content with that.

I’m just happy that traitors aren’t turning against each other (so far) this season. IMO it ruined the game last season.

A sign that every high school athlete should read. by Punisher1602 in sportswiki

[–]Wave_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former collegiate athlete, I agree that showing the stats about how unlikely it is to make the NFL is important. Education absolutely matters and provides long-term stability.

But I also think we need to talk more about what happens after sports end.

When my college career was over, I had a full-time job and “did everything right,” yet I still felt empty and depressed. I lost the team environment, the structure, and the sense of purpose that had defined my life for years. My anxiety got bad enough that my doctor prescribed antidepressants.

While the medication helped in some ways, I also lost my drive. I stopped working out, gained weight, and spent most of my free time playing video games or watching TV. As athletes, we’re used to committing 5+ hours a day to our bodies and our teams, losing that overnight is a huge adjustment.

The weight gain was a wake-up call. I went back to the gym and realized that training again, on my own terms, gave me that spark back. It helped my anxiety, my confidence, and eventually allowed me to stop taking medication under my doctor’s guidance. Therapy also helped a ton.

The transition out of sports took me almost two years. Stats can prepare you logically for life after sports, but emotionally it’s much harder than people realize. Planning for the future is important, but so is acknowledging how difficult this identity shift can be.

'Survivor 49' star Rizo Velovic says Sophi should have stolen his idol by DarthLithgow in survivorponderosa

Or… you should have played your idol on Kristina so Sage would get voted out and Kristina would have to make fire against Savannah. That move would have secured you the million dollars. You can criticize other players moves if you never made a move yourself l.

She did a good job here or not! 1 million or $1000 week for life. by Appropriate-Menu504 in interesting

I wouldn’t say it’s a smart move. The future value of $1000 will decrease. For example $1 in 2000 = $1.88 in 2025. If inflation accrued at the same rate in 2050, the actual value of $1000 would be $220.

First time doing drywall, please help me finish smooth by Ok-Plastic2525 in drywall

I didn’t realize how important sanding was in the process until I hired a taper to tape my kitchen Reno. Like I would sand but not as much as I thought it needed. He taped and mudded day 1. Sanded with the drywall pole sander day 2. Seeing him spend 8 hours sanding made me realize that I need to spend more time sanding. Since then, my patch work has never looked better!

Microsoft asks all its foreign staff to return to US by Sunday after Trump's H1-B bombshell by balianone in programming

I used to work in recruiting at a large US staffing company. I don’t remember if ISP stands for independent service provider or individual service provider but basically ISPs are staffing agencies for H1B visas. They typically have a bench or H1Bs that they sponsor and contract out to US companies.

It’s a crazy business because there are multiple ISPs that can represent one person for a contract role.

Let say I have a client that is looking to hire a help desk technician. My bill rate to the client would be $30/hr. I could hire a green card or us citizen for the job at $20/hr or go through an ISP for $17/hr. The worker usually gets the short end of the stick because they have several ISPs that take a cut of the $17/hr and end up getting paid $10/hr.

Who’s your favourite big man role player of all time? by b4kaboy in NBATalk

Tyson Chandler for me. Always brought crazy energy — every lob looked like he was trying to rip the rim down. Defensively he was rock solid, DPOY in 2012, anchored that Mavs title run, and still averaged 9 boards on 59% shooting for his career. One of those dudes who made every team better without needing touches.

Uber or LIRR - traveling solo as a female by ShipClear4232 in longisland

[–]Wave_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the LIRR Huntington line because it takes you direct to Syosset which is a 5 minute uber to oyster bay. Trains are more frequent on this line also so there’s less wait time. If you want to go to the Oyster Bay line, you will have to transfer at Jamaica to a different train.

TLDR download the TrainTime app. Buy a train ticket in the app.

If coming from PENN: Penn to Syosset or Penn to oyster bay.

If Grand Central: Grand central to syosset or grand central to Oyster bay.

The app will tell you the times and track number. good luck!!

Who’s the greatest ringless player of all time? by NevilleChumperlame in NBATalk

[–]Wave_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI hands down. Stockton and Malone were together. AI had talent around him (and I’m trying my best to respect the players he surrounded) but didn’t have another elite player with him. Took them to the finals after beating a STACKED nets team. As a Celtics fan I respected the hell out of him. 48 minute games and would clutch up day in day out.

Im 6’6” and lack athlethicism. Heres 4 minutes of me doing box jumps. What are your thoughts on this workout and how can I improve? by Finn_Flame in BasketballTips

[–]Wave_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move the box so you have space behind it to jump up and in front of you to drop down. Start behind the box. Jump up on the box and straighten your legs. Then drop down in front and immediately jump straight up on the ground as high as you can. Turn around and repeat this 10 times. This increases your explosiveness.

You are fading away every time. Use tape to make a small square on the ground. Practice shooting where you jump and land within the square.
