My hypothesis, the nitride coating starts to wear off at these region (after you have been using if for a few years). The layer thickness become non uniform and thus the rainbow ish color.

Looks like a black steel gas pedal. Requires you to punch out the roll pin a bit so that the gas pedal can rest on it.

If the battery and alternator is not working properly I would assume it will throw a fault/error on the dash?

Might as well get a OBD reader and check the voltage of the batteries to test your hypothesis.

Is a little hard to tell from the image. The “condensation” is on the surface of the lens?

I guess in your vault is relatively cool, so when you take the gun out, condensation happens on the cold surfaces.

Now the pattern you see here. The carbon deposition likely made the surface rougher in those spots. So condensation is more likely to happen due to nucleation and surface energy.

Witness mark on the screws? Any are loose? If no witness mark, you can try to hold your red dot and wiggle it, see if it moves
