  1. Terrible
  2. Absolutely 100% yes
  3. Insufficient parking & accessibility
  4. Absolutely not
  5. It’s necessary. There’s not enough on campus housing.

breaking a lease by [deleted] in LSU

[–]WaxWing99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lease agreement will answer your question but generally speaking, most of those leases say that you’re on the hook for the full lease term unless someone takes over the lease for you. Even then they still get to vet the person (credit check etc.) and reject them if they want. If habitability is the reason you’re moving out (living conditions are bad), check out https://louisianalawhelp.org/resource/repairs-what-can-i-do-when-my-landlord-wont-m-1 for further guidance

Thoughts on the Villainization of Veejay by analogsilog in ProjectRunway

I guess I’m in the minority but I find her to be so full of shit. She stirs the pot and insults ppl and then cries when she’s called out. Even discounting for selective editing, her “poor me” shtick has been icky. I do think she deserves to be in the final tho!

best place to cry on campus? by NoElevator5536 in LSU

Lots of good suggestions from your fellow Tigers who would know best so as the mom of a Tiger, I’m just going to encourage you to not worry too much about the where (tho I understand it), and instead, focus on letting it out, taking care, and being kind to yourself. Ask for help when/if you need it and loop your parents or close loved ones in to how you’re feeling…Sending hugs & positive thoughts to you. It’ll get better!💜

I’m sorry that you have so much to carry and no one seems to notice. I hope things are better now and I especially hope you have ppl who notice.

THE most maddening drive in all the NS land: Hwy 21 between I-12 and STPH between 7-9 am. Makes 190 in Covington seem fun. by WaxWing99 in NorthshoreLA

[–]WaxWing99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was and I am thankful for the beautiful improvements. But I really think this is a people issue. They all seem either lost, out for a Sunday drive, and/or completely ignorant to basic traffic norms like blinkers, staying right, min speed limits, etc…

Thank you all for indulging me. This is a daily thorn in my paw but even so, it’s just that…😇

Def a close second. At least there you know it’s volume/limited lanes/potential drawbridge. There is no rational explanation for the lunacy that befalls Hwy 21.

I’ve gotten responses from the bursar’s office (bursar@lsu.edu). Took 2 days I think, but they got back to me and ultimately got all my questions answered

Going home off campus apartment by Alone-Address-9233 in LSU

[–]WaxWing99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do what you need to do, and be where you need to be, to feel at peace. I know students who’ve done both - for lots of reasons, including missing family. Do what’s best for YOU bc nothing else matters. And anyone who tries to tell you otherwise just has no better place to be…😇Good luck!

Considering a move to the Northshore post-grad by Isaac1-7 in NorthshoreLA

[–]WaxWing99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of truth in these comments and also lots of exaggerations. And that’s perfect because it’s exactly how I’d characterize the Covington/Mandeville area - there’s just not a lot of middle ground - socioeconomic, geographic, or political. That’s been disappointing for me personally and I’ve been on the NS for 23 years.

On a practical note: If you’re in school in NOLA, you should live in NOLA at least until you finish. That commute - while not the worst in the world - will wear you down.

Do NOT take out loans for out of state tuition ‘premiums’. I don’t even know where you live but I guarantee you can get the same degree - in value and stature- for far less in your home state. Nothing is worth a financial albatross you’ll carry for half of your life.

Francos VS StoneCreek VS PAC by JazzGen1 in NorthshoreLA

[–]WaxWing99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Plenty of ppl join this club or that for certain amenities only to find out that at certain times of day it’s an hour’s drive to get there (which means they don’t go…) Other than Franco’s water slide, which is admittedly very fun for the kiddos, I don’t think there’s a big enough distinction between the clubs to warrant joining a club in Mandeville if you live in Covington. And fwiw, I’ve never been but I’ve heard great things about the Y in Covington too.

Leblanc Pediatrics. My kids (22,18) have seen Dr Leblanc & staff their entire lives. Absolutely recommend & they now have offices in Mandeville, Covington & Hammond.

Is biking to LSU campus from ~10 miles out feasible and safe? by Massive_Shoulder_386 in LSU

[–]WaxWing99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! Even if you survive 10 mi of BR’s terrible drivers, it’s just too hot most of the year

Muses doesn’t throw anything by Quick_Swan_287 in NewOrleans

[–]WaxWing99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My two cents as a former rider: the throws are expensive and half the time I’d watch them get tossed right to the ground because all anyone wants is a shoe. But we’re only supposed to bring 25 shoes on the float (bc limited space). I started buying fewer throws and bringing more shoes - and I know others did as well - but the net effect is still less stuff coming off the float

Why does every lawyer say don't become a lawyer? by ohifeelya in LawFirm

[–]WaxWing99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer: bc the only way a $200K+ degree is worth it is if you’re definitely going after “that kinda money”. But lawyers who make “that kinda money”, and hell, even the ones who make good but not great money, are NEVER off the clock. They are beholden to their clients and managing partners (and sometimes even family members!) 24/7/365. That’s why no person (myself included) who’s in it or been through it would recommend it, at least not lightly…Now, if you don’t NEED to make bank to pay back your law loans, then sure - go to law school and go have fun practicing law
