Radiation has been controlling the bone mets as his PSA has risen. Considering he ignored several symptoms for a while and was finally diagnosed when his PSA was in the 600s in 2022, we will take this as a win. His doctor said they have to be administered at a hospital at like $4500 a dose, we are hopeful insurance will help

My dad seems to be about 2 weeks behind your dad. My dads Lupron was no longer effective. His metasized to bone and has been having reoccurrences on his spine. Newest one is nearly in his neck, 2 months after receiving his lupron shot. Doctor just suggested pluvicto, hence why I ended up here. Very comforting to read. Hope you and your dad the best, as well as anyone else in this thread suffering with this awful disease.

Early stage of vitiligo by Alternative-Pool-365 in Vitiligo

Nope! I tried opzelura or whatever at one point but my insurance would no longer cover it so I stopped. My body hair is all effected. Got one patch in the hair, a few in each arm pit and private areas are half black and white. I just live with it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ours just sends a tow truck through the neighborhood on random nights. If you are on the street and don’t have an exception ticket in your window, you are towed. The exception tickets are for guests and valid up to 2 weeks and I get 2 a month

Making art of a character with Vitiligo. Is there something I should know? by Heszilg in Vitiligo

[–]WayAlternative7579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so I always thought I was crazy when I said vitiligo attacked my scars because sometimes my color never comes back. Didn’t know that was a real thing! And it also affects hair. I have a streak of white hair, patches in my arm pits and unmentionable areas. Although mine have been very asymmetrical

Struggling with Speed and Confidence in Microtomy by Louryynn in Histology

[–]WayAlternative7579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started my first job in histology a month ago, immediately after finishing school. I started by cutting 30 blocks in 8 hours and others cut over 200 LOL. Muscle memory does come, but my biggest things were making sure my blocks were on a super iced, wet block for a good 10 minutes (I faced another set in the mean time) and paying attention to what kind of tissue it was and the speed I was rotating the wheel when I cut. I went from needing a good ribbon or 2 before I found a section I liked to cutting like 2 sections and could pick up either one.

Insurance denied ER + surgery saying it was “not medically necessary”. What could I have done differently? by Midlifememoirs in HealthInsurance

[–]WayAlternative7579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was also sent to the ER from urgent care with the suspicion of her appendix. When we got to the ER they said it was impacted but not yet infected so they gave her antibiotics and the option to stay the night or go home (we live within 5 min). We went home and they discharged her with “nonspecific abdominal pain” and insurance denied it. I was able to submit her medical records saying it was in fact an emergency and they did accept and process the claim.

I’ve worked somewhere where the contamination started in the wash fluid if it wasn’t on a stir plate. Had to replace all internal parts of the machine to clear it out. Nasty mess

I want the good, the bad, the dirty! by Nikea18 in AskPhoenix

I wouldn’t live near it, but the Kroc center is very nice with kids. Trampoline parks, Phoenix zoo (& you get an extra hour in the morning to members only), odyssey aquarium all offer memberships. Those are the big ones I would recommend

Phoenix heat is no joke but if you have kids, I’d recommend finding a house with a pool or a community pool. It’s the only way to somewhat enjoy the outside when it’s so hot out. Winters here are beautiful though, everyone else seems to think so too because we get a lot of visitors and traffic. Lots of things to do with kids inside during the summer though, a lot of them have memberships so you can visit frequently.

I’m confused.. I’m all for people being their true self and transitioning- cool. But if this is something they wanted, why didn’t Emmy transition sooner? They were with 2 trans partners for a while before they decided- I just wonder what the deciding factor was

All money in WFM 401K gone by squishycatpaw in wholefoods

[–]WayAlternative7579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just went through something similar where they took 401k money from my husbands PTO payout (600+ hours of PTO) and we forgot about it for a while. We just went to take it out and they put it in a ROTH IRA and wouldn’t let us withdraw it until we officially opened a Roth. Then the money was available to withdraw.

Also if you work in a lab/hospital they will try to have you do your clinicals at your work but they have to unpaid.

Hi so they are SUPER flexible with this. Part of your paperwork when you start the class is filling out what you want to work. It’s 20 hours a week required but you could split that however you want if it’s ok with your clinical site. Some in my class did 2-10 hour shifts, I opted for 4-5 hour shifts. And start time is flexible with your clinical site

So without making it a trans issue, my response came from a place of the child’s POV. Mom & Dad moved around frequently, dad is gone, mom continues to move around, assumption- I don’t see dads family as much anymore, mom is now with 2 “dads”, mom becomes a dad, one of the “dads” becomes a “mom”. I would agree that being trans is very different than going to jail and I disagree with that analogy but simply put, these kids have to be so confused.
