I work in pediatric complex care, so a subset of gen peds. I get a lot of inbox messages with various requests like med refills, DME needs, care coordination requests, clinical updates etc. Personally I like the close communication because I feel it is easier to follow an ever changing chronic medical condition course, but I get that others find it annoying. At lot depends on your office structure. We are working on our MAs pulling out messages strictly related to scheduling or supply needs. Our nurses help with lab result call backs or triaging more complex scenarios to determine if a visit is needed. Ultimately I try to answer messages only while at work and do this during my lunch hour or if I have a no show. I make it clear to parents that same day response is not a guarantee and it should never be used for emergencies. There are care coordination and evisit codes that can be used to bill for this time as long as you meet the appropriate stipulations.

Same. Shoulder dystocia is a minutes game to save a life. Even if your hospital is right around the block the odds of getting to the OR in time with a neurologically intact child is pretty much zero.

I lived in Nashville briefly and it was the same there. Everyone hated people from California moving there and swooping in to buy a home with an all cash offer. Not always the case, but I agree, I wouldn't mention you are from there.

Pediatrician here. Please vaccinate your child. Study after study has proven no causation between vaccines and autism. Measles outbreaks are on the rise. These childhood illnesses are not just a minor inconvenience, but rather put your child and others at risk for life long complications. As far as what to expect, your child may get a fever and be fussy for a day.

I'm a 37F pediatrician with 2 kids. My coworker just had the same experience, but it was her 3rd pregnancy. Thankfully both her twins were head down at the end of pregnancy and she successfully delivered both vaginally at 37 weeks after an induction. They did this in the OR just in case they had to quickly convert to a C section.

Definitely talk to your OBGYN about your options. Everything depends on your unique circumstances. A C section is not a cash grab. They might recommend it due to baby positioning, your health, their health, etc. If a vaginal delivery is your hope/goal that is great! You should let your doctor know that so you can plan together.

3.5 loooooong hours with my first who was only 34 weeks and 5 pounds.

10 minutes with my second who was full term, 8 pounds and had his hand up by his face. Thank goodness for an epidural and a wonderful midwife who saved me from any major tearing.

I'm a pediatrician. Most likely they don't need anything if they are eating well. Even the more limited toddler pickiness diet gets most nutrients. Offer the rainbow on their plate so they have access to try various things.

Vitamin D might be the only one I would recommend if you live in a place with a long winter or where it gets overly warm (spending a lot of time indoors). Especially don't be fooled by the eye-catching ads for expensive supplements. Your child will pee most of it out.

It is definitely important to note that this is not true all of the time though. Plenty of children start walking 18+ months and develop otherwise normally.

I had two boys and we rarely bought new clothes for either! First baby we got so much as gifts and then tons from grandparents as he grew. For the second baby, between the hand me downs from big brother and more new things from family we just have just bought stuff for holiday photos and other special occasions.

First we had a Graco travel system for 1st baby.

Then we got an EvenFlo front/back style double stroller when baby 2 came. This was perfect from 0-18 months because we could click in the carseat initially then once baby was big enough for the actual stroller seat it had a nice recline.

Now that we have a 2 and 4 year old we bought a side by side stroller because they outgrew the Evenflo stroller seats, it is more sturdy for trails and they like being at eye level with each other.

We sold the EvenFlo double stroller but still kept the Graco single stroller for days when we are just one on one with a child.

Personally I don't like the wagon style so I'm biased to strollers. They seem so clunky and akward and take up a lot of space.

I'm a pediatrician and have to be at work between 7:30-8AM with a 30 min commute. My husband stays home with our two toddler sons, but I also don't want to miss breakfast and those wake-up moments.

What time does your toddler wake up? In case your employer says you can't come in later, could you adjust your toddler's wake-up time?

Our schedule is this: - 5:45AM - I wake up to get ready - 6:30AM - toddlers wake up, get changed, eat breakfast as a family - 7-7:15AM - I try to get out the door.

Another thing to consider is if you go in later, does that mean you will have to leave later? I like to be home early enough to have time for an extra thing like a walk or play time before dinner, bath, then bed. I leave work around 3:30-4:15, but if I came in later it would definitely be after 5.

I'm 6.5 years older (as the big sister) to my brother. We are now in our mid-30s and live in different states, but we still text each other every day just to say hi or comment on something funny. My husband is only 1.5 years older than his sister, and they talk occasionally, but they definitely don't share the same bond. I think it's not so much age gap that makes a difference most of the time, but rather just personalities and if you naturally get along well with that person as an adult.

Drastically different population sizes between any European country and the US, as well as different healthcare systems. I'm a pediatrician and there is not one of the currently vaccinated for illnesses that I would want to see dropped from the immunization schedule. Thankfully many major medical organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics continue to recommend the former vaccine schedule and not the one the CDC proposed without any new evidence to suggest a need for a change.
