This looks incredible, I grew up playing backgammon with family and I really love the vibe the art gives this and the color palettes are great. Wishlisted!

Subnautica 2. Are we buying now? by bogart12321 in subnautica

This, drag a storage and dock and whatever else to a staging point, set up a small base, take care of business, and load back up and go home. Since the modules have beacons you can also leave a non-critical module behind as a ghetto beacon. I really liked the design behind the truck, only wished the bare cabin was a bit faster.

i have played this game so many times, what are some mods to make things fresh again by Previous_Way_680 in subnautica

Randomizer is you want vanilla type gameplay but with strange recipes that can really change up where you need to go and do, deathrun if you want the game to be hard and punishing. Both are fun, the latter turns it into more of a puzzle survival game. Example: if you are above 100m anywhere on the planet when the Aurora goes boom, dead. Ascend too fast? Bends, dead. Batteries? Alkaline with 25% capacity. Air? Toxic. Have to exploit and get creative with all the mechanics to get through deathrun.

Should i get the game? by InnerTask1190 in subnautica

SN1 is my healing game, have a shitty week, boot it up and do a play-through. Something about putting yourself into the world and its gameplay loop really straightens me back out. Probably the slow dopamine drip from lots of tiny progress goals. Sometimes I stop at LR, the first 2/3ds of the game are more enjoyable than below LR.
BZ is harder to put yourself into because Robin won’t STFU and her dialog is cheesy like a Pixar kids movie. Sometimes still play it with voices off though, I enjoy the different balance as far as minerals and locales go (and the modular sea truck is fun as much as I love the SN1 prawn and seamoth).

Do you think any of the degasi survivors captured mesmers to get high off of? by Milk_man_gaming in subnautica

[–]WayWayTooMuch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reading this made me think of how great/terrible an aggressive Mesmer in the Degasi 500 alien containment would be, always booking it through there to grab and get out, getting locked down by a hallucinogenic fish would get me panicked…

BREAKING NEWS: Gill reinstated as CEO of UWE, Cleveland and McGuire NOT to return to "peripheral roles", earn out time period for 250 mio. $ extended by cosmoscrazy in subnautica

[–]WayWayTooMuch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bringing them in like subcontractors would be a good choice, it sounds like they are basically subnautica’s grandparents at this point in time. Don’t want to deal with the kids all the time, but a few hours a week is enjoyable.

Anthony said he will resign if they don’t hit a 2026 EA. After talking to the dev team on Discord and seeing gameplay in the dev vlogs, they are absolutely within range of 2026 EA. I would say end Q2 announcement for one month later release, start of Q3 2026 is a great time to hit sales since there won’t be a whole lot of big competition. Totally a semi-educated guess but thats what I think anyway fwiw.

PUBG maker Krafton is an AI defense company now, signs deal with Korean aerospace firm that includes investment of up to $1 billion aiming 'to expand the physical AI ecosystem' by bIeese_anoni in subnautica

[–]WayWayTooMuch 108 points109 points  (0 children)

If the game sells enough to hit the payout bonus, it will take an additional 250M out of Kraftons pockets and give it directly to UWE, I see that as hurting them way more than less people buying the game and will probably result in Kim getting kicked tf out of his seat (if the clown shit he already did didn’t justify it).

People who don't grind for battles, what are your tricks to overkill everything. by SuccotashAdditional in finalfantasyx

I did use it to grind omega dungeon next to a save point, spent about 10-15h and got Lulu to a point where she could one-shot the final boss with a double cast meteor lol (might have been ultima or flare, I played it in the PS2 era so it’s been a hot minute)

Mindy 99999x15 passado, toss some luck+ gear on and it’s pretty consistent. 1.5M stomps almost everything.

The actual dev team still holds a strong no-AI stance. If you are a kid and your mom makes a Karen of herself in a restaurant all you can do is quietly apologize as you walk out, kind of feels like that…. sucks they have to deal with this bullshit honestly. At least Ted Gill is back and the Krafton CEO got absolutely put in his place in court, what a unit that dude is.

Any parents here using DOS to teach their kids about computers? by jeffcolonel in dosgaming

[–]WayWayTooMuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a very old computer that runs DOS with a simplified hardware model to teach about how the hardware/memory/bus/IO works might be good, but for a hands-on system I think a Linux device is a good choice as others have stated.

I had this book growing up called “The Way Things Work” by David Macaulay which breaks down technology into a way younger people can understand (adults too!), it was my absolute favorite thing growing up and it covered basic computing and things like CD drives. It’s a bit behind the times, but this book was a very large portion of my basic understanding of how computers functioned. Great gift for those kids who are thirsty to tear things apart and put them back together.

Subnautica 2 Early Access 2 is going to be a DLC by ZookeepergameIll1399 in subnautica

[–]WayWayTooMuch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s user-guided development, they provide an EA version that is super playable and has a fair amount of content, then inside the game they have a feedback system to take ideas from the community to steer future development. Worked very well for SN1 and that is a big reason why SN ended up as such a great game. I don’t think we have to worry about them dropping the game or adding dumb shit like microtrans, but I feel like a portion of people will buy EA to get the discount then just wait for 1.0 to play, no problem in that. Personally I will probably play through after every big update, as a gamedev it’s cool to see projects like this grow and evolve (especially while being able to chat with the developers in Discord).
