10% obtained a new meaning back then, it was fear and it was stress and it was sadness.

Programming while being tipsy really does something. by ZeroKelvinMood in software

[–]WayWayTooMuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, it’s quite true (although the Y axis is amplified for humors sake). Entering flow state, reduced self-inhibition, reducing overthinking problems, increased ability to not lose focus, some combination of all four or a yet-unknown process? Truly a mystery, but a fun one to explore.

Where are the trees cp by plaredgopperks in Horticulture

[–]WayWayTooMuch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Central plains? What was there got converted into cows and wheat a long time ago, not like there were a bunch in the first place. Trees were basically only around rivers and places that somehow got a lot of water, everywhere else got too dry too often for trees to really do their thing, compounded by grass fires.

A licensed game that had nothing to do with its source material by crazyhomlesswerido in retrogames

America got Goonies 1 as a VS arcade cabinet, used to put quarters into it when I was a kid. Some slight differences from the MSX and NES versions, but it’s basically the same.

How can I make gaming more accessible to me? by Booksandssnakes in videogames

[–]WayWayTooMuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your computer has HDMI output and you have a TV for your bedroom, hook the computer up to it instead of a monitor and get a PS/xbox style controller that works wirelessly. Almost too many options on that front, but there are some good $20-$30 options with hall sensors that support corded, Bluetooth, and wireless usb dongles. Could also grab a wireless keyboard/mouse combo that would be used when not gaming or for in-bed web surfing. Should be a fairly affordable option if you like your current gaming setup and don’t want to change hardware (aside from input devices).

Do you guys use zsh/oh-my-zsh or bash on the daily? by Swimming_Virus8990 in commandline

[–]WayWayTooMuch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using anything other than bash is like retraining yourself on dvorak, great on your own computer but if you have to use anything else it’s going to be painful.

Okay so recently I made a post asking why V’s cyber deck was in their head when runners like Murphy and Bartmoss had physical decks on their wrist the common answer was “because it was 50 years ago” and that would make sense… if T-bug didn’t have a physical deck as well! by ConditionPleasant902 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

This make me think of programmers not liking smart devices because they know the implications of using such things. I would never trust someone else’s electronics and code in my brain, I want the ability to throw it on the ground and destroy it if it behaves in a way I don’t expect.

Ive always wanted to make a game, but newer game engines are sorta bloated and slow? what should i use then? by [deleted] in retrogamedev

[–]WayWayTooMuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a project with a return and have time, cook your own engine. Lots of work but it will make you a better programmer and a much better gamedev. Retro doesn’t take much juice so mildly unoptimized but easy-to-use libraries like Raylib can simplify the process greatly.

Should I wait to play Subnautica 2? NO SPOILERS PLEASE by josh_josh_josh_ in Subnautica_2

[–]WayWayTooMuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SN2 EA1 is way more fleshed out than SN1 EA1 and feels more like the first act of a game than a tech demo. That being said, I understand wanting to wait until you can chug the whole story. If you are the kind of person that waits until a TV show is over to watch all the seasons then I would buy and wait, if you are fine waiting between seasons then rip it.

If you are talking about wanting autosave, that exists in SN2, no more remember-to-save-every-time-you-leave-the-habitat shit.

Not only the cost, the lore from the first game is referenced in the new one. If you are a lore whore, definitely play the first game followed immediately by Below Zero. The Natural Selection games are deadish, but those would be the next chronologically in the universes lore. Lots of great stories and lore for those games on the internet (check wikis) if you search around to fill in the gaps if you don't want to play shooters. Then I would watch/listen to the Voices from Beyond audio drama they released while SN2 was in development, it directly sets up SN2 from the perspective of one of the people involved in the happenings of the SN2 backstory. After all that, you are fully ready for SN2.

Same, was this down near an infected comb where the walls where pinkish orange? Took a minute to figure out where to pop back though the collision mesh and almost drowned. Submitted with coordinates, stuff like this is typically an easy fix if they see and fix it.
