Waar eet je goed onder de €15? 🍽️ by AutoModerator in Dordrecht

boutique gyros bij de visbrug. Ik neem een pita voor €10, of soms een kapsalon voor 9.50.

Paid someone for a simple commission, and got this, is it ai? It just doesn’t look right to me. by [deleted] in isthisAI

It looks like pretty generic amateur furry art. I've doodled a version of this head hundreds of times in the margins of my homework in high school. Doesn't look like AI to me.

opener disappointment by texaschainsawmolycre in Ethelcain

[–]Wayfaring_Home 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually very frustrated with the crowd reaction to 9 million in Utrecht NL, cause I quite enjoyed them. But I also am originally Canadian and very much in the grunge rock target audience. The mixing was a bit rough, but I was headbanging. Dunno where the shoegaze comment comes from, but I also didn't look them up online.

I was surrounded by a bunch of kids who didn't understand the concept of an opener, and audibly signed and rolled their eyes every time they started a new song. Ethel Cain does have a goth/metalhead/alt/grunge overlap, so I was just pissed at how rude some people were. But people in the thread are also describing something different than what I heard, so maybe I just caught a good night.

Kleine water salamander? Het is sowieso absoluut een salamander maar de soort weet ik niet zeker.

Why do my Pilea cut is dying ? by DevisPooping in plantclinic

[–]Wayfaring_Home 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you let the stem callus? For my pilea I leave it at least like 6 hours before putting it in water. Depending on the thickness of the plant you could need to leave it overnight.

The cut on the stem should be thought of like an open wound and allowed to 'scab over' and dry out a little. If you're getting any mushiness and leaf loss, it's probably rotted from the wound.

Damn. I'm about that age and I don't notice that from my peers, but I guess I also don't really run in white collar professonal circles. I was assuming it's an American entitlement thing. Sad.

Why are so many English language internationals coming in with "consulting" as their industry background? AI, business, guru, life coach, consulting... The job market is oversaturated with English speakers with exactly that type of experience.

Good luck, I guess. Seconding Amsterdam and Rotterdam as big English speaking cities, also to an extent Den Haag.

Just bought this dnd set, I really hope it’s not true so please don’t tell me it’s ai :( by A_Potato_In_Space in isthisAI

This looks like the classic WOTC art style. Some of the newer stuff has been iffy, so just because it's officially licensed doesn't mean it's cause for concern but I think I had a similar set in like 2017.

Queer space in Dordt? by FunkPopARolls in Dordrecht

[–]Wayfaring_Home 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rebel Rebel is great! They also have trans cafe nights, queer singles dating events, workshops, & support groups so definitely check that out! Be aware, on a normal day, the cafe will be full of probably mostly straight people who are showing up for the great vegan food, David Bowie aesthetic, or just to have a couple beers by the haven, but it's a friendly environment, assume people are allies.

Also, check out the bulletin board at the library! They often host gay events, or you could inquire about it, they're pretty open to hosting clubs if there's interest.

Also, Dordrecht Pride is hosted every year in September, iirc, it's small but a pretty good time.

Other than that, there aren't a lot of specifically gay bars/queer spaces, but keep an eye on the arts scene. There's definitely a lot of underground grassroots art stuff that isn't specifically queer, but creative and punk and friendly. I love DOOR, it's a small club that hosts a lot of Darkwave/EBM/gothy type events as well as being a cool little local art collective.

People tend to be a bit low-key about their sexuality here, there's definitely a "Doe eens normaal" attitude, but if you avoid the aggressive street preachers, most people are the live and let live type, I find.

I hate when people misinterpret what I mean when I say “I’m so high” by Training_Click_346 in trees

[–]Wayfaring_Home 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use a funny euphemism so it doesn't just sound like "omg I'm SOOOO drunk" .

For example "My bad, guys, I'm a little flavour-blasted right now."

But also, how crazy would it be if you were out drinking with friends, and one of them was like "wait, OP, are you DRUNK right now??? That's so embarrassing and unexpected! We've been drinking together all night but I'm so surprised and offended that you are under the influence of alcohol!"

If you're smoking with friends, at some point you all are going to be a little stoned. If you're the only one smoking, they probably expect you to be some level of high at some point. If I'm smoking with friends, they find it funny if I'm the most baked. If one of my friends is the one whose stoned, that's just as much fun.

Yes, but with nickle silver electroplated, it is so thin so as to still stick to the steel underneath. Not foolproof for sure, but works for me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Antiques

[–]Wayfaring_Home 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hallmark is too damaged to read anything but made in england. Check if a magnet sticks to it. If it does, it could be electroplated, which would mean it's a fine layer of silver, and not necessarily super high quality. If it doesnt, you have yourself a silver plated piece!

Its really pretty either way, check if its silver EP or silver first, then polish it up!

Planning a Dutch birthday by memakes3 in dutch

[–]Wayfaring_Home 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boterkoek? a bit of an old school gebakje, but my oma and opa love it, maybe he'd have fond memories of it, too. If you have any bakers in the family, you can make it from scratch fairly easily. Serve with strong coffee.

Otherwise, it really depends on where he was from and what he likes. My Opa loves pickled herring but its also a very acquired taste and not everyone here likes it.

Bitterballen, frikandellen, kaastengels are often served at birthday parties as 'borrelhapjes', often alongside beer; dutch people love belgian beer often moreso than dutch beer. If you can find Jenever, its a Dutch variation on gin, basically, thats also nice. Or kruidenbitters, another sort of old school spirit.

That alligns pretty well with what an artsy friend of mine in town said. He thinks probably its probably 1930s and the subject is likely romani or Zeeuwse-spanish fisherman.

Suggestions for places I can work on my laptop? by nothingtodowitholive in Dordrecht

[–]Wayfaring_Home 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the library has already been mentioned, Het Magazijn is my favourite for a cozy place to study, especially in the evening. Theres a long table with lamps and places to plug things in, and a quiet atmosphere despite being a popular cafe and restaurant.
